Hong Kong Vlogging Test: Sigma 16mm F1.4 / Sony A6500 / Rode Videomic Pro+ / EOSHD Pro Color
Ғылым және технология
This is some footage I shot to test a new setup I have for vlogging and videography. Footage was shot on a Sony A6500 with Simga Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens and a Rode VideoMic Pro+. Additionally I tried using the EOS HD Pro Color 3.0 Picture Profile (Original) www.eoshd.com/pro-color/. All video is a mixture of 4K and 1080P, taking straight from the camera with no colour correction or audio equalization.

anyone knows what price HK dollar for that sigma in HK? tia
Amazing quality! Looks really pro, sound and the new lens rocks. Amazing blur on the background. Also the content was really interesting and the editing was very good
Seriously the best vlogging quality I’ve seen!
Welcome back, I went to HK years ago, thank you for shooting those beautiful sights. By the way, your hair looks much better, so much better 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That was a very nice and calm video. The scene and quality looked great. Nice job! :)

Those GITS sequences, I really need to visit that place. Loved the wide but shallow depth of field look of the new lens

I think the artist actually changed their performance name. Also very hard to find this album too!
Sounds good, looks good. That bokeh is ridiculously nice.
Thanks for a great video and review, awesome! I might consider the Sigma 16mm now 🙋🏻♂️
Absolutely brilliant vlog video....beautiful scenes and amazing bokeh effect.

Informative video thanks.lens looks great
Looks phenomenal on a 4K HDR TV and on a 1440P monitor. Serious GITS vibes.
This video is amazing, everything looked great and I loved the background blurr effect while you were speaking. If you are still in Hong Kong I'd appreciate some more shots of the city.

Alright no worries! This video was truly amazing, your b-roll shots were fantastic. Can't wait to see more of your videos :)
i loved seeing this movie. keep going 😊
Hi Lachlan, really enjoyed this video. And you couldn't have picked a better music score for your video. You seem to have an uncanny sense of how to pair your music to your videos, and vice versa. I enjoyed this video so much that I am going to watch it again later this evening. :)) Oh and GUESS WHAT arrived in the mail last week !?!?!?! My Mass Senns HD6xx's ! ! ! OMG, I can't believe the sound I'm getting from these ! ! I'm soooo in love with the sound signature these cans are dishing out. These cans are worth every penny in my book. Right now I'm using it for just about everything [gaming, music, movies, etc], but I also have a ModMic 5.0 that I have attached to it. That way I can game with it [squad chat, discord, etc], watch a movie on my computer, listen to music, etc anything I want to do with it. These headphones are outstanding man ! ! ! ! The bass is DEF there whenever explosions go off. But the low freq's don't steal the show. Theyyyy jussst seem to be utterly in perfect sync at all times ! ! !

Niiiiice, and thank you! The music I chose specifically because it samples the Ghost in the Shell track that I was trying to reference :3
Great content man :) Im considering to buy this lens. Would you recommend it for travel/cinematic videos?
Great video with the Bokeh action - You really have still hands.. I really love Mongkok (and Causeway Bay too)! (Greetings from Hong Kong)
Ah yes, HK in the summer has that "I've been outside for 5 minutes and I already need to take a shower" kind of humidity. Good luck with your travels there!

ByteCauldron I live in HK and I'd say it only takes a minute to have that feel.
Great Quality
Looks fantastic. And nice shirt.
Nice lens! I do plan on getting one for my Sony A6000!
This looks amazing! Did you do it all handheld or did you put it on a joby? LMK! Curious to see! Thank you!
Nice video!!
I liked it a lot! How much of a shake would you say does this lens have even after iBIS on A6500?
Great video, I really loved the colours. Did you shoot this in any particular picture profile? Thanks!
That means and camera is a sweet combo. The video looks great. The sound is kinda thin though. I am wanting to put together a similar setup. Except I will get the EF version of the lens with a E - EF speed booster.
Excellent
Great video, thanks 😎
Thanks! Looks awesome :'D

awesome video
Hey! Nice video! I just got the lens for my a6400. How to record vlog with that kind of bokeh? do u have any tips for the settings?
Thanks for showing us =)
sick vlog
hey, how much better is the a6500 compared to the a6400 when it comes to image stabilization? Its really important to me, and I dont really want to be using a gimble
Nice review bro, might pick up the sigma. What settings did you have the mic on?
Hi Mate, thanks for sharing this video! this video made me bought the sigma 16mm again on my a6300! hahaha! anyways may i ask how do you set your white balance when self vlogging? thanks!!
I really liked your video. I had no problem with the audio, but...perhaps I'm crazy...it seemed like the autofocus was off. Particularly on your face. The subway shot was sharp, but it seemed like the outdoor shots didn't have you sharply focused. Could it be the summer humidity or the lens?
Got one coming. What ND filter are you using? Awsome channel btw. Subscribed :)
can u give us the settings u shot this video with
loved this. Just got this lens for my A6500. A month in Italy and Spain to film. LOVE the look at the film. how much post production did you do ? Did you shoot in a flat profile, or just standrard ? It looks awesome
Sound was good, video was with perfect bokeh
Yeah you are right the best vlogging settings, nice bokeh , what is the nd filter do you use?
when you shoot the b roll? What f stop are you using to make it so clear?

You are darn right about mk being not the favourite for locals. It is so crowded it drives me nuts. Granted it is probably the best place to pick up audio visual stuff
what portable tripod do you recommend for run and gun style shooting
you catch good moments and good editing, is this camera apsc?
I'm considering this lens with the Sony a6400, just worried because the a6400 doesn't have IBS , anyone has experience with this setup?
look crispy no cap
Whats your nd filter? Is is fixed or variable, do you have a link
I got that "Peter Barakan-feel" 😆
Thanks bro 😎
Hey brotha what were your video settings for this =)
You filming your taking scenes in 24fps or 30fps?
which nd filter did you use?
Is the IBUS active...?
high quality vid ooo
This made me really want to rewatch Ghost In the Shell
omg that crispy BOKEH
I've stayed there when on vacation in HK 3 yrs ago.
Are you using a picture profile or just the lens raw?
Which is focuse mode you used?
Beautiful👌🏽 How did you set white balance? Did you adjust it manually for each scene? Auto?
@lachlanlikesathing
6 жыл бұрын
Um I think I just set it to cloudy, or it may have been auto...
Did you color grade the footage?
What ND filter did you use?
what lut do you use?
did you use what kind pp?
@lachlanlikesathing dude I just found out about this lens and was debating on using on a 5100 vs 6500. I want flip screen but know 6500 4k looks so good. Does it bother you that you can't see when you're in frame? Also just subscribed.
@lachlanlikesathing

I worry less about not seeing myself with this lens because the angle is so wide, so as long as I am staring into the lens and arms length I’m going to be in frame. I like my A6500 since it adds image stabilisation with this lens as well. One last thing to consider is that the A6500 has a mic input and a hotshoe mount if you later want to get an external mic!
Hi, Did you used ND filter?
Wow, crispy bokeh
What tripod did you use ?
You almost discovered the secret sauce, but it's missing various ingredients.
Is the lens autofocus?
That bokeh is so nice lol
what settings is this
Wow nice video...have you used any ND filter while shooting it? Which one?
@lachlanlikesathing
6 жыл бұрын
I think it was a 3 stop B+W ND filter
I Just heard Ghost in the Shell and all I did was imagining Makoto causing major property destruction in all shots....
Did you record in 4K (in camera) and long (in minutes) per full charge battery? :)
@lachlanlikesathing
6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, only needed one battery IIRC
Never thought I'd say this.. but.. there too much blur to the point it's hard to get a feel for where you are. To actually see the architecture around you and see the sights . (For the bits where you were talking to the camera)looks great still
혹시 ND필터 끼우셨나요
nice vlog
why are so many shots tilted?
Sweet Christ, he has a proper haircut for once.
Ahhhh nostalgia
