Hong Kong, Macao Hold Flag-raising Ceremony to Greet New Year
Hong Kong and Macao held flag-raising ceremonies on Monday to greet the first day of 2018.
In Hong Kong, the ceremony commenced at 07:45 at the Golden Bauhinia Square. China's national flag and Hong Kong's regional flag were raised into the air to the tune of China's national anthem.
Macao likewise held a flag-raising ceremony, which began at 08:00 when Macao police escorted the national flag and Macao's regional flag to the Golden Lotus Square.
Residents and tourists alike watched the ceremony, taking photographs to commemorate the exciting moment.
Attending the flag-raising ceremony on New Year's Day has become a popular event for Macao's youth.

They do that mostly every time, it is one of the best flag traditions I’ve been.
Hong kong uses an actual band while Macau just uses speakers for anthem

Macao is actually used very often in English. The Portuguese name is Macau, and is sometimes used in English as well. However, officially on most documents and even on maps, it's displayed as "Macao".

Macau is the spelling in Portuguese, but the People’s Republic of China spells it as Macao. And, as CCTV is a Chinese News Agency, funded by the CCP, it is spelt Macao.
