While I appreciate your love for Florida and showcasing our beautifully unique environments, among all the states, I also find your video so sad I could cry. We have lost so much! I am a native Floridian, at least as much as one can be without being born here. My family moved here in 1959; I was 2. It has been the home of all my youthful memories and my home of record ever since. My grandfather used to take me to area beaches after our hurricanes or particularly hard summer thunder storms throughout the 1960s. The shells we found on Pass-a-Grille Beach alone put to shame the shells you celebrate today on Honeymoon Island. I especially remember the enormous and complete, fully colored conch shells dredged up and shoved to land by these storms' powerful waves. Easily 9- to 10-inches across at the crowns and longer in lengths! In my youthful innocence and ignorance, I imagined these explorations and wonderful discoveries would always be a part of my life. Just as I thought the natural, high sandy dunes and thick stretches of sea oats and grasses, set among tall palms and towering pines, would always last. But, of course, they did not. Just as so much of Florida has changed just within my lifetime. The ever-growing numbers of residents and continual concrete construction have forever changed the landscapes of my youth. I appreciate the necessity and the inevitability of progress. But I also very much GRIEVE the lost Florida of my childhood. Please, CONTINUE to record the Florida you experience. Your films not only inspire your audience but may be the records of what we've lost in future, if we don't better cherish and care for our Florida today!

What a wonderful morning beach stroll❤ After years of collecting I have most of the shells you found. Learned some new names. And maybe I don’t have to go to Florida after all. Thanks for the video. Shell sated this morning.

Came on You Tube and found your video and thought "Learn the name of the seashell 101" class and sat back to enjoy the view, and, of course, the music. Nothing new was learned, but what a gorgeous catch of shells! Love when you talk about the areas you visit and the shells...might have to freeze your face and take a picture for my shelling wall! Friends have asked where I get my knowledge of the shell names and I tell them from my friend and teacher, Brian...I also steer them to your videos but don't know if they take the time to absorb the beauty of the videos. Anyway, thanx once again for letting me tag along on yet another shelling adventure...have to get ready for the Adam Swanson concert this evening; 6:00 MST on you tube...rag time pianist...Oh!...and thanx again....all in 4K!

That was sincerly so serene for me to watch❣ That bit at the end sure was interesting too. Oyster shell really was stunning. I was surprized to see that little (screwdriver?), pick off the barnacles without scratching the shell. Thankyou for making this longer too❣❣🥰 = Hugs

Great job Brian! Happy you did well! It was great running into you that day. You actually found a couple of nutmegs which I seldom find, but there have been quite a few albino prickly cockles come in. You also found some great star shells! All in all my park treated you well. And yes it's cool being the only one at the north end!😁

I love Honeymoon Island! It’s hard to find shells near Tampa, but Honeymoon Island always delivers. The island always has an abundance of chestnut turbans - you can collect handfuls of them, and you’ll also find their operculums! I usually find a few longspined star shells, every time I visit - but I’ve never found one with the spines still intact. What a great find. I’m also shocked at all the albino prickly cockles you found. It looks like you had a wonderful day! Thank you for taking us shelling with you! The views and sound of the waves were awesome!

Well you absolutely can't beat a great day of shelling in Florida! I will say that I have quite an interest in shells from the polar(Arctic) regions, mostly because no one really collects shells there because most areas here are pretty inaccessible, and there is limited literature/info. I go to honeymoon Island all the time I'm from Florida I wish I could have been with you when you went because I would have been able to tell everybody the name of the shells and identify them for them. If anyone wants to know the white one that he found is an angel wing they are very rare to find especially in good shape. And the other one that he found that was pretty much hinged was also called a turkey wing which is also not easy to find he passed up a few buttercup routines that were very beautiful. But the main thing that everybody needs to know is to make sure that you check each shell rinse it out and make sure that there is nothing inside in Florida little crabs like to take over and make their homes there very popular on honeymoon Island and anywhere else that you may go so always make sure you check your shells before leaving the beach is there is a critter inside leave it at the beach. That is the most important thing for the ecosystem

Hello! I have been shelling since I was a child. I sort of forgot about the hobby when I was in HS and college, and then became interested again when some of my immediate family became snowbirds. The first time I remember shelling was when my parents took me to Miami Beach when I was about 11. I sat in the little trough where the waves hit and collected tons of little Olives, and Tritons - it was love from there on! Thanks for watching!
