The whole premise of the movie is bad. At the end the tip top of Mt Everest is sticking out of the water so that means the sea level is at about 28,000 ft. They're saying this is because the polar ice caps melted. The average altitude of antarctica is 7,000 ft and the average altitude of Greenland is 5,000 ft and are only at the poles, that is no where near enough ice to melt and cover the world to 28,000 ft. Kevin Costner has gills behind his ears from a natural mutation. The last time our lineage had gills was 375 million years ago. Whales are mammals that went back to the water and didn't develop gills, Mosasaurs are reptiles that went back and didn't develop gills either. If the descendent of a human develops gills, it would probably take 100s of millions of years, and by then they wouldn't look human at all, in fact might not even be mammals anymore. Both the protagonist and antagonist hit that little girl over the head. This movie is just all kinds of wrong.

This movie was amazing to me as a kid. Still is. The world feels real. You can feel the rust from the boats amd smell the people. It feels like a window into the world rather than A film

Speaking of that alternate title, can we get an actual Honest Trailer for Wild Wild West?

I never realized this movie got hate I remember liking it

I watched this recently on TV - having not seen it for ages. I think the years have been rather kind to it, and it feels quite organic compared to the CGI fests of today. There is some ropey dialogue, and clunky moments but overall I enjoyed watching it again.

@Dicelord N Exactly, it was good, not awesome. I dislike when movies get ragged on for not making tons of money as if it's an indicator of it being bad. "The Man from UNCLE" made approximately $0 a few years back, but it's fantastic. I think Guy Ritchie's King Arthur movie was also great, but made no money. This was a high concept movie with incredible sets, but was only good. It's not an easy win as compared to Independence Day or Armageddon or other fluff. But whenever it's on TV, I'll watch it.

Am I the only one that thought this movie was awesome when they were 10, and still thinks to this day that it's just as awesome?

Richard Connor exactly. It only seemed to do badly in the states. It made the majority of its money from international audiences and is what helped show Hollywood that international blockbusters are the way to go rather than focusing and caring a lot about the domestic box office.

A lot of people think that their primary goal is to make money, its not. Hollywood is a propaganda machine, and they learned they can accomplish that mission AND make money at the same time, but repeatedly risk unpopularity to push their agenda. People seem to forget something about Waterworld: It made money for the studio, it wasn't a flop. Sure, it didn't do great on the USA, but overseas? Overseas people LOVED Waterworld. I know because I live in freaking overseas and I loved Waterworld when it came out. So did everyone else I knew at the time.

One of my guilty pleasure movies. I know it's bad, yet I still enjoy watching it anyways.

Yeah, I dont understand the hate. Plenty of movies have had MUCH shittier stories and dialouge and got only a fraction of the hate. The movie is still a masterclass in pratical effects and its a shame we dont get more of them.

I actually first saw this movie as I listened on a radio frequency and viewed it from the balcony of a third story hotel in Colorado Springs. I was only there to keep company as my cousin went through his 'out processing' of the army. As for the movie, I liked it. (memories)

Gotta admit that this movie is a guilty pleasure for me. I didn't think it was nearly as bad as it was made out to be. We did see the Universal show. Saw it twice we enjoyed it so much. The first time, the actor playing Dennis Hopper's character did a spot on impression of him.

No Aquaman jokes? I'm disappointed

I saw the Waterworld show in Universal Studios in Singapore, it was pretty awesome.

Where's the honest trailer for Being John Malkovich? I want Spencer to make sense out of it XD

"Kevin Costner only needed one bomb to blow up Universal..." Lol but sadly true! What I remember about Waterworld is all the rope climbing and the sets only came in two colors, blue and brown. And thank you for proving my memory was correct!

I wanna see more of these. It’s like another version of cinema sins. Gotta love comedic criticism.

The intro to this one is thr best one thus far

I don't see what the fuss is about I've seen that movie 6 times. IT RULES
