it's called desperation.
'All quiet on the western front' is pretty spot on. I mean it's even in the title. In German the Book and the film is called: "Im Westen nichts neues", which a little more accurately means 'Nothing new on the western front' which is a statement in itself. It portrays that there were fights and million of deaths on the western front but nothing changed over the years of war. So I think in that case the honest trailer is somehow spot on :D This exhaustion of listing the things portrayed in a (anti)war movie is such a nice reflection of the exhaustion of war itself.
@moonkenzie

I was really upset that it didn't win more. Usually war films at least win for sound-- and its sound was leagues better than most. It's not a particularly faithful adaptation of the book, but it had the same violent anti-war spirit that I think is really necessary to see rn.

Ever since they expanded the Best Picture category to ten nominees, they always include one or two blockbusters. They never win. They're never meant to. The Academy is just hoping it makes more people tune in, some slop thrown to the unwashed masses. If Top Gun actually wins (not impossible), something went horribly wrong with vote-splitting, and the Academy voters would be seething behind the scenes, probably trying again to push a "Best Popular Film" category to ghettoize like they did with Best Animated when Beauty and the Beast and Lion King threatened to actually win despite being the wrong kind of film. The Academy isn't meant to be representative of popular sentiments; them be very serious artists making most very serious art.

@yongBane part of the problem is the few times these movies do get acknowledged like top gun, is that its a bit outclassed this year, or black panther which really didn't deserve it and got its nomination for other obvious reasons which undermine the movies real quality.
"Māori" isn't pronounced "May-ori" (e.g., your pronunciation in the Avatar - Way of Water segment) -- it is more like "Mau-ree" (or at least that is reasonably close enough for a non-Kiwi). The actual Te Reo pronunciation involves a slightly less common vowel combination sound.

Same ahahaa
I'm so curious if the Elvis accent is STILL there after the Golden Globes.
It's taken me all week to get the "does he know" joke lol
Honestly the story behind Women Talking is just so insane that it’s hard to believe. Like…it’s just so messed up!
7:06 I'm afraid that's not how you pronounce Māori
And the winner is...... Yeoh A24 raps.
Say in an epic Zoidberg voice “Cinematic Universe ending without proper villain to fight… why not Starro?”
2:12 Wait, there are people with dinner tables and don't live alone (or lived with family when younger like myself) who don't know about this?
Has anyone pointed out that they call the at symbol an ampersand instead of an asperand?
Austin Butler spent six months straight practicing that voice and speaking it everyday before they even began filming. Then catching that voice for reshoots if they needed. So it's got to be pretty hard for it to go away and since it sounds cool why the f*** would he stop just cuz some dorky theater nerds want him to?
I don't get why people won't stop asking for an EEAaO Honest Trailer. One reason that movie is so goddamned great is because it's wearing an HT-proof vest. But Spielberg making Spielberg about Spielberg (which fulfills my Oscarbait pre-req of "first learned it existed by hearing the nomination")? THAT'S a target just begging for an Honest-ing.
Everything Everywhere all at Once NEEDS it's own trailer
EEAAO is one of the most deserving films to ever win the Oscars. The storyline, storytelling, visual effects, the craziness of it all are beyond words. Never would have thought it would get nominated for anything let alone the Oscars. I’m proud of the producers, actors and everyone involved. 🎉😊
Tar had one of the best endings of a movie this year, it was such a troll. HT shouldn’t have spoiled it.

Good on ya for not pointing out where it was in the video, because I did NOT catch it
For the love of god please do a full honest trailer for everything everywhere all at once
7:20 It's just like how Matt Ryan played the English AF John Constantine even though he's Welsh.
I am rooting for Everything, Everywhere, All at Once😊❤

@@ladyreverie7027 Glad you enjoyed it but definitely not the best movie of the last 10 years. Spotlight, CODA, Don't Look Up, Power of the Dog are just a few I would rank ahead of it.

not even close to a top contender this year or vs any other year.
I know its meant to be *Satire,* but this video was so eerily accurate it's deeply *concerning* 😩

I don't like how snobbish this video is towards cinema that is not a blockbuster, but more indie or arthouse films.

What about FASCISM?
I mean if the committee has any sense left, they should award the best picture to Top Gun. Yeah sure there must be some random movie made on a 100K budget with better themes and whatnot, but Tom Gun literally saved the industry. It is THE reason people have any interest left in going to the theatres again, otherwise people had settled down into watching everything on streaming platforms post-pandemic. A movie with an effect like that has to be recognized.

I didn't see top gun and I'm interested in going to the movies. It depends what you want to see.
If they had a “Most accurate title” nomination, we all know who would win.
I never watch the Oscars anymore but I don't miss the Honest Trailers for the Oscars.
Finally a year where movies were nominated that people actually went and saw 👀 🤓👍 some of these movies I even went and saw in the movie theater 🎥

8:12 This movie really needs an Honest Trailer. It's a beautiful film.
This bit is concerningly easy on/indulgent towards Top Gun: Maverick. It's less a good movie and more a bit of old-school nostalgia that gained an ironic appreciation in spite of itself.
I'm finding the greatest thing about this compilation are the reference is to other movies in the descriptions or titles of the Oscar nominees
Triangle of Sadness was nominated?! I LOVE THAT MOVIE
Less than 2mins in and that ‘Kate Blanchett’ bit took me out 😂😂😂
I was wondering when you guys were going to do this. Thank you.
Can't believe you showed the final few seconds of Tar before the credits, the literal ending to the movie it all worked up to.
