You were correct, this doesn't sound like the usual IU, but still the production is so good, and IU is such a versatile singer who loves trying out new styles and genres, and here, her sound quality fits so well with the mood and energy of the song. Bang PD is amazing for choosing IU to sing this song, and also, he is such a good producer. There was also some news about IU being in the show as a judge or something, but I'm not sure. It would be amazing if she is actually a part of the show though😂.

Absolutely agree, versatile is the keyword. well, "IU's genre" and "IU's sound" are somewhat hard to explain in the first place :D as she have tried various genres and produce many vocal timbres to match songs, genres, and collaborations throughout her 12 years career. Yes, people can say her main genre is ballads, but dont forget 3 main songs that put her in the map back in 2010-2013 (Good Day, You and I, Friday) are NOT ballads :p

So happy you reacted to IU - Into the I-LAND! IU, herself, said and is aware that her voice sounds different in this song. I can understand she sounds different since it's a first-time shes trying this genre and is showing more of her range to fit this song more, and it's just amazing. She also said she recorded this for 8 hours straight to perfection, also doing her own adlibs and back vocals. If you notice besides the main lyrics, she is vocalizing a little in the back and that small thing itself sounds so different and good. You should react to her other songs like her legendary triple note hit song "Good Day". A Pop rock electro song "Blueming". A Hollywood type song "Red Shoes". The 80s dance type song "Last Night Story". Her age series song that relates to many 23-year-olds "23". And “Palette” she wrote as being 25-year-old. Those two songs are prequels of “eight” ft suga. And many more. She likes trying out different genres and loves music with a passion. She wrote majority of her songs that always reach the top of the charts.

@@FA-fs3mc its going to air this Friday on MNet... pretty much its a survival show that bighit is hosting in collaboration with another company. Its gonna be like 22 or 23 boys competing to be part of the final group. We don't know yet how many people will debut or what the missions and stuff will be.. but Zico and Rain are the coaches. We don't even know the judges, but we do know bang pd will probably be one of them

She knew it was different from what style she does most of the time but I can surely say that this song made IU's singing abilities shine a lot. Many people say that her vocals are so soft and not powerful but this just proves it. This song is not only for the trainees, it's for everyone and this makes it better.

there are actually 23 applicants (there was a 24th one that never got introduced because he broke his arm after falling from one of the moving platforms you can see in the MV, a staff member also got injured apparently it wasn't safe at all and after asking multiple times mnet didn't bother), but there are 12 pics because there are 2 parts of the show (just like nizi) the first one is with the 23 trainees, it's just observations and they vill eliminate 11 of them, and then there's a second part with only the 12 others and this time they'll really act like a survival show and they could debut as 12 or less
