If you've been keeping up with Build Breakdown over on @HooniganBonus you already know that Will's gorgeous, bagged FD RX-7 is more than just a stance car. The 1JZ under the hood is pushing over 600hp and makes all the right noises in the process. In the other corner we've got the FK8 Civic Type R from the boys at JSR, which has already proven itself to be a certified ripper down the airstrip. It's full of titanium goodies and has all the bolt-ons to squeeze the most potential out of its stock K20.

@@NovaRedHead id say it’s done well even for having a jz swap, my only thing I’d change is lose that coors light truck shifter and put something you can row gears with in. Other than that it’s a great RX7 even for me being an OEM+ kinda guy

It's definitely a setup issue. The CD009 is factory in the 370Z and you have to try to miss shift in those

You need to get into the transmission because chances are there is some damage in there. I have seen that specific problem a couple times. You can finesse it but at a certain point it's just burnt up. I say this having had the same problem when I bought my 350Z with 26k miles on it.

@@MillionairX maybe a 156 magnum from Grannas racing. A factory T56 won't even think about hanging with 8 to 9k rpm shifts, not compared to the JK/CD trans. You are dead wrong about the synchronizers on that 90's shitbox transmission even coming close to a CD009/JK.
This is my favorite drag on this channel in a long time. All fun

1JZ engines are awesome. He could have probably got another 100 horse if he really wanted to. What a great guy too. That is so cool to see the greatest Japanese sports car get one of the coolest engines swapped in. I just love it.

Will reminds me of my early 90s childhood. He’s definitely been around knows the hustle. Has an old school vibe and just one chill dude enjoying life to the fullest. That 1jz swap is on point. Was dying to see him air up and slam that bagged beauty for all the haters. Slapping that limiter going sideways in the end and that soda machine comment lol! Man, came commenting back with the quickness totally unscripted. Love how the underdog took the win. Goes to show don’t be to quick to judge a book by its cover. (A beautiful rx7, 1jz built 30psi boosted, old school ecu, slammed, stanced wheels, soda machine, swamp cooler, and a beer tap lightning rod shifter! ) You can’t hustle a hustler. ❤❤❤
