Watch this video to learn the process for addressing the pressure washer no pressure problem. You sill find it easy to fix the problem of no pressure by watching this video. The pressure washer in this video is a homelite pressure washer with a honda gcv 160 engine and a vertical axial pump. If you are experiencing low pressure on your pressure washer then it could be an issue with the inlet.
If your pump doesn't have pressure check the hose for kinks and make sure to get all of the air out of the hose and pressure washer.
Remove the unloader valve on your honda pressure washer and check to see that the small pin on the end of it moves freely. On the homelite pressure washer in the video the unloader valve is located directly beneath the pump outlet.

DUDE!!! I was literally online researching pump replacements for this model of pressure washer, as I had left it out in the New England winter in my shed without "treatment". Figured I had blown the pump but good. Saw your video and figured "what the hell, I cant screw it up and more than it already is..." and BAM, full pressure! Thank you SO much!!

GREAT VIDEO.. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.. 🤓 From experience with other pressure washer Unloader Valves (UV), I have found that some can get extremely tight in the pump head.. After you remove the Staple / Clip, start the pressure washer and cycle the wand trigger a few times and the pressure will pop the UV right out.. It will pop out and fly 2-3 feet, aim it away from people and property you don’t want damaged.. I place a 5 gallon bucket on the side to catch them.) A pair of vise grips and a small slide hammer works on the really tight ones.. (Chlorinated or hard water is the enemy of a UV, they get stuck from mineral buildup as they dry out!!) ALWAYS check the O-Rings for cracks and then lube the UV with a SILICONE grease.. (Swimming pool type silicone O-Ring lube) Do NOT use petroleum based grease, it swells the O-Rings and makes more work for you if you need to clean the UV again in the future.. Also, when properly lubed the UV will slide right into the pump head without hammering on it and risking damage to the threads.. A light tap with a soft hammer or screwdriver handle works.. To simplify getting the staple fastener back in, grind / file the tips on the legs to a 45 degree angle and the wedge shape will slide in 200% easier than the original blunt end.. (Beveled side toward pump on install!!)

Add me to the list. I had no pressure at all. I came in to do a quick search before I pulled the pump off and found your video. I didn't realize I had left the water on so when I pulled the pin and started to use the screwdriver to help pull it out, it came flying out with the water pressure. Like yours, the pin had free movement when I picked it 30' away. I put it back in and all is well. Appreciate you sharing this information.

I would take mine apart and try to figure it out but I'm out of town for quite a while. I doubt you scored something. Take it back apart and make sure the ball is free to move. If you could take it out that's even better. There's probably just some build up that needs to be cleaned.

This did the trick for me. Thnx. I had a real difficult time getting the pressure valve out even when using the idea a fellow had for taking the horseshoe pin out and exercising the wand a few times. A buddy up the street, who is a known handy man, came up with an idea that worked well. We pulled off the spring, washer and nut. Then we put a few washers over the threaded pin that were pretty big and fit nicely over the pressure valve housing. Then we found a nut that had the same thread pattern but was fairly large and started to cinch it down on top of the big washer. The effect was the same as pulling back on the valve. It didn't come out easily, but it finally gave up. Cleaned the valve and the housing area, reassembled the system and she ran great.

This pressure valve removal is a bear! Instead, use a 1/2" box wrench and another box wrench for leverage under the larger nut. No washers or spare parts are needed. 3 hammer taps later and the unloaded pin is out!

I have this type pressure washer with the spring unloader valve. Thee unloader valve moves and I sprayed it with white lithium grease. I have checked absolutely everything I can think of but I still do not get pressure when I engage the wand. Do those types of unloader valves need adjusting?

Make sure to remove all the air from the hose and pump by letting the water run through before you start it. It will not build pressure if there is air in the system. It is possible that if it froze that the valves have broken.

I've got a brand-new 3600 psi Honda GX200 pressure washer that is giving me half pressure brand new when pressing the trigger on the gun put an operation I'm only getting 1900 PSI no matter what nozzle I use when i release the trigger the idle head pressure builds to 4200 PSI and then settles at 4000 psi the unloader adjustment cap was missing that is normally on the screw and the screw itself was slightly bent. Store i bought the machine from wouldn't let me return it as soon as they knew I had already put oil and fuel in it to use it. Fortunately Simpson or rather FNA group seems to think i have a faulty unloader valve and it is bypassing even when I press the trigger on the wand causing me to have low operation pressure so they are sending me a new unloader. Hopefully that solves my issue.

As far as I understand this problem it is caused by grit or sand that jams the unloader valve. At least that was the cause for me. I have heard that RV antifreeze can prevent the pump from freezing and ultimately cracking the housing when storing it for the winter. I'm glad to hear that you fixed the problem quickly. Thanks for watching and commenting. Best of luck to you.

I have a Craftsman 580.768350, it's a Honda GCV160 with 4 small chemical containers. It's dripping water underneath through the brass part below the pump, and when it starts it has some pressure for a second, and when i pull the trigger, off goes the pressure. It doesn't have that spring part visible like in your video. Do you have any suggestions Sir?

  • @DIYAllied

Is it possible that it froze in storage? If so you could have big problems with the pump. Luckily they are easily replaced and fairly inexpensive. Happened to me once years ago, was leaking water in the same place yours is. Turned out the pump housing was cracked.

I'd make sure the intake screen is clean, could possibly be a clogged tip or it could be the wrong tip. The blue tip is the soap tip and has very little pressure.

Thank you for your video. When I turned on the house water, the water go to the low pressure side and start shooting out of the soap tank. Pulling the wand trigger doesn't help and only a trickle of water comes out of the wand. I figure it must be to UV so I remove the clip and start prying on the spring. Didn't budge. I sprayed wd40 on it and let it sit. Still stuck. I put some vice grips on i the spring area and tried to rock it. No movement. I tapped on with a hammer and sprayed more wd40 but no luck. It feels solid. Ideas?

Thanks for watching a commenting. If you have the same model and pump, that unloader cable should come out. They have a tendency to rust tight if they have been in there a while. I'm not sure why you would have water coming into the soap tank. Kinda sounds like maybe one of the internal valves maybe stuck.

Good afternoon -- I would like some advice and an explanation if you have time -- what exactly is that valve for and how is it regulated / adjusted / many thanks

  • @DIYAllied

    @DIYAllied

    Жыл бұрын

The valves purpose is the allow water into the pump until the required pressure is created. Once the pressure is sufficient the valve closes and the water is diverted to recirculation until more water/pressure is needed. It is possible to tighten the nut/spring to create more pressure before it is recirculated but it is not recommended. To much pressure can lead to catastrophic failure of the pump or hose. The valve is set to the correct tension/pressure, from the fctory, for general applications on these machines.
