I could easily see this bike in my garage. It's a lightweight FJR! All the right amenities, enough power to do what you need to do, Honda quality, comfort (important for us dinged up older folks) and a reasonable price, especially considering all the amenities. I even like the exhaust note. Winner, winner, Honda. I'd take this over a T9GT any day.

"I could easily see this bike in my garage." thats where it is useless...in a garage because to ride it like a touring bike you will need to put it though the garage every day after 250 miles to adjust, clean and lubricate the final drive chain. Basically its useless as a tourer for that reason.

The reasoning for the smaller LCD screen is for when your main display is in CarPlay/Android auto mode you still have a speed readout. The bike is definitely one I will look into when it comes out.

For it's intended audience, this is truly a great bike. If I had room for 2-3 bikes in my garage, this would be in it. On long trips, like the last 1100-miler I took, this would've been absolutely perfect. My Speed Triple does the deed when around town and out for a blast. Honestly, it's not sustainable, though. And sometimes you're out for the ride, not the bike. On longer outings like that, when something like this "disappears" beneath you, it's a godsend. Excellent rig! Even the clean, modern design will be appreciated more over time (a typical Honda attribute!).

Really good full review. Ive got a CB1100EX. It does 70 mph at 3000 rpm in top with plenty of torque, with a useable range from 1500 to 3000 rpm. I am so smitten with that aspect I am looking for an engine to match that before changing the bike. This bike comes close. Mine does 64 mpg but is not as suited to touring as this machine but is still easy to ride. It did the NC500 with no issues using bags rather than panniers. It can be a bugger to clean though if you like to keep it showroom and needs to be kept that way ideally. This bike looks a good wet weather bike. If I had the room and brass I would have both.

More than a good review, as always, but I have one little note. Your DCT explanation gives me the feeling that you didn’t understand the meaning of the dct. (Not rude meant). Yes, you have to use your flippers before the corner, that is not a negative thing, that is te meaning of it. Just as by a manual version. And out of the corner, the same. Did you ride it in the highest sport version mode? Because when you drive it in the highest Sport version (DCT mode) than there is no problem at all. And also out of the corner you can take control by the flippers to take control of your gears. I’m not sure, but I do not remember that you said something about the Sport DCT mode in combination with acceleration out of a corner? (I’m Dutch, so excuse me for my perhaps grammatical English mistakes 🥴)

I was disappointed with the reveal but mostly due to personal expectations, not the bike being bad. Was hoping to see a VFR successor in some way, more sporty on the sport-touring scale, there is a bit of a revival with the 1000GT but nothing major so far. I think this will find buyers and sell well, like with the GS most people on an AT would be better off here and it's a nice overall package even if a bit vanilla. In the end if I want a sporty look without packing panniers on a CBR, shaft drive to not bother with the chain on thousand km tours, comfort for both driver and pillion but still enough agility to have some fun R1250RS is the sole winner in the segment. But it packs a serious punch on the budget...

@cjljr41 You are correct. I've been riding NC750X DCT for over 5 years now. DCT is something to get used to, but once you master it, it is amazing! My preferred mode is S2. D-mode is dull, quick to shift up, and slow to shift down, thus lacking engine breaking. It is mostly made so that Honda can meet Euro 5 standards and reach those unbelievable mileages with one tank of fuel. (there are reports on NC forums that guys spend as low as 3,2 litres per 100 km on 750 ccm engine; btw, my 15k kms average is 4,5 lit/100 km). I believe that is why many reviewers criticize it, as the D-mode is the one that comes up first once you turn on the engine, and they never bother to switch to S-mode, as they are not used to it. That's my opinion why most reviewers talk negatively about the DCT, they just don't have experience with it. S2-mode is a completely different ballgame! A perfect balance of throttle response and downshifting when you need it. S3 goes even further into sports riding, kicking two gears down when you open the throttle for quick overtaking. And there is another thing: a user mode where you can further tailor RPM shift-up points. Everything is in User Manual, which nobody bothers to read. It just takes a bit of tweaking if you are not fully satisfied with the way it comes out of the box, but once you adjust it to your liking-it is a dream! Btw, I will be trading my faithful NC for NT this year, it is time to upscale, the new NT 1100 ticks all my boxes!

I borrowed one from Honda while my Honda Crossrunner 2012 was in for a fix. It was the auto version. The electric LCD display had failed and had a "warning" permanently on display. The ride was comfortable for distances. I sat in a bubble of still air at high speed. Very unnerving tbh but probably a bonus for touring. The auto gearbox was a right faff. Changing up was lurchy and it never really liked changing down from what felt like top, even to 20-30mph. The up changes were okay to a point, but not good going in slow to a bend then accelerating out. I was warned it could get unsettling. As ive ridden around 60 bikes in my 35 years of riding and in all conditions, I cant say i wasn't impressed at all. Handing back the keys i felt slightly disappointed. I certainly don't like the new display units on modern bikes. Its all a bit of a gimmick.

The lower LCD screen is pointless…until you fire up Car Play (which consumes the TFT screen) and realize that now you’ve no idea how fast you’re going or what gear you’re in. That’s why the LCD is there, bro.

I like the nt1100, the looks are great and of course it's a Honda.. so the quality is good. But the screen is adjustable from the outside, cruise control on the throttle side , and you always change the driving mode by accident, because you are very easily accidentally press this button.:3.27 you can't say the nt1100 is almost the same as the tracer 9Gt..The tracer is much more of a sport bike, the engine of the tracer 9gt is just more refined and faster.I wouldn't don't mind having to drive the nt1100, but as someone who likes to drive occasionally sporty, it's the tracer for me

Do 270 degree parallel twins really feel like v twins ? I have a 1000cc 90 degree V twin but have only ever ridden 360 degree parallel twins. The smaller ones were ok but from 500cc on upwards, the faster one went, the greater the arm massage that resulted.

I have a tracer 900gt and rode this and the GSX-1000gt back to back today- Honda is the better tourer, GSX is the better sport bike and tracer is a mix of the two. GSX is uncomfortable for me, engine and handling is amazing but as a tourer no way. Tracer is good mix of the two. For me being 6'4, Honda was comfy as out and has enough go to have some fun. Seriously considering the Honda but not sure if it's that much better than the Tracer

Looks like the sort of bike as a stepping stone for people getting out of the sportsbike classes (even the sports-tourers) and who aren't ready to go for a Goldwing. I'd say, well done! The twin cylinder feel and soundtrack keeps it interesting whereas something like this with a 4-banger would be bland-heaven. Maybe this is some kind of ST1100 successor from Honda? At least in spirit?

At 6’1” myself, the wind noise from the screen would be a dealbreaker for me, unless I could find a taller screen from Honda or a better aftermarket version like the Givi Airflow I have on my Wee Strom.
