    hey man i dont know if you ever figured out the RPM setting.. but your bike is running fine. There is a setting on the runleader for how many sparks per revolution. yours is displaying double the RPM because the setting isnt correct. For example at one point you revved and it hit 5600 RPM. that is almost redline and i have to say, it didn't sound nearly redlined too.

    Hello @RideorDie I really appreciate the video. Did you ever "correctly" install the spark plug ring in the instructed location..? I see you placed the ring on the head bolt. I have the runleader also, same one, but my engine head isnt like yours. I used the plug hole as specified in the instructions, & noticed the spark plug kept spinning and wouldnt tighten down all the way, almost stripping thread like. I used the spark plug with & w/o the washer, same results. We all need that most accurate reading, any ideas on best possible way to "make it fit" as instructed..? Also, I installed my temp sensor on the plug boot, closest to the plug, next to the yellow rpm sensor wire. 🍻

    This is the: Runleader RL-HM035A Digial Hours/RPM/TEMP Meter Gauge, Maintenace service interval,RPM & Over-temperature alert, LCD display shutdown, Battery replaceable, Waterproof design. This model has been out since June of last year but Runleader still doesn't have it on their website, nor do they have a downloadable User Guide. The Amazon listing claims that the memory is nonvolitile (you don't lose your records if the battery dies). Also claims it is IP67 water resist.

    Will you have to adjust your air-fuel screw to lean it out a bit OR back to an 88 main jet?

  • @rideordie6886

    @rideordie6886

    2 жыл бұрын

    prior to installing the jets on the Navi, it was rich to began with, I have not put a mile on it so I have no idea on how the throttle feels but its definitely is running rich at idle and when revving there is some popping at the exhaust. I didn't think much of it tell stated to get further into the mods. But you are right Jeff I will be doing a video on extracting/drilling the air fuel mixture screw I don't think its the jet but I will have to wait tell I mess with the air/fuel...

    I'm doing a custom application for mine and the wires will be too. Do you think it will be fine to splice those two and make them a few feet longer?

  • @joujimiichi1

    @joujimiichi1

    2 жыл бұрын

    An electrical connection is just that; an electrical connection. There really shouldn’t be any issues increasing the length of the wire but obviously the longer the wire, the more resistance is added to said electric connection. Just make sure you protect the splice with shrink wrap, electric tape or crimp connectors (ideally all three) and that the splice itself is secure (soldering would be ideal but crimp connectors will work). It is also important to use proper wire 16AWG is what I would recommend for an application like this.

    I just installed my Runleader, same model you have. I’m bone stock right now and trying to get a baseline before I do intake/carb/exhaust work. I’m getting a warm idle reading of 5500-6000 rpm. It sounds normal. The back wheel does not spin while idling. Is there a RunLeader setting wrong?

  • @rideordie6886

    @rideordie6886

    2 жыл бұрын

    Honda specs is supposed to be 1700 rpm with out choke on, if you haven’t removed your Welch plug and adjusted your air/fuel mixture screw chances that is off and will need to be adjusted. Also if you suspect that it’s not reading right try running the wire not on the boot but below the boot if that makes sense…

    @@rideordie6886 I figured it out. I was running the RunLeader on 1P2R. It needs to be on 1P1R. Now I’m idling around 2000 rpm. A little rich, but I feel it’s reporting correctly now.

    @@rideordie6886 I appreciate the video! Was very helpful getting mine installed. I did have a question about the settings though - did you change the RPM Range setting at all? The default R1 range is 0-25,000rpm, but seems like it should be set to R3 (0-12,000). Did you change it at all?

I did not change anything besides the time, I noticed that it auto corrects it self, when I hit and I think around 8500 rpm it flashes at me but I main got it for rpm and temp reader. I havnt had a problem with it. If you are getting in accrete readings on rpm it’s ok to put the wire around the plug wire and not the boot. Hope that help your question if not try and explain more
