Honda Monkey Takegawa Super Multi DN TFT Speedometer & Tach (Install & Setup)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This ended up being a longer video so if you want to skip to the setup it's at 11:50 and then fine tuning the setup on the bike at 15:22 - although you should watch the whole thing :)

    Would this work/connect properly on the Honda Trail 125 2023? Would really love a gear indicator on this thing, I know there are some eBay cheap ones but this is impressive especially with the analogue dial!

    Awesome videos man. I learn a ton from your content. Thank you! - Question: Do you know if the fair market price of the motorcycle suffers when installing a new speedometer? My guess is that after installing a new speedometer, in the title, you would have to disclose the mileage of the motorcycle as unknown? I want to make this speedometer upgrade myself but I'd love to know a bit more about the implications from a motorcycle value and legal perspectives when making a speedometer replacement. My understanding is that tampering with the odometer is illegal in the USA, not sure if this modification counts as odometer tampering. It technically shouldn't because you are replacing instead of tampering but I'm not sure. I'd love to know your thoughts about the implications of speedometer replacements on motorcycles overall.

    I'm not a lawyer / this isn't legal advice, but most of the laws state that it's illegal to modify the odometer with the intent to defraud. On this odometer you can enter in the number of miles from the previous odometer so it reflects the true number of miles the bike has. Honestly on the Grom and Monkey I can't imagine it would impact the value at all.

    I bought the original Takengawa Speedometer after watching one of your videos mainly for the gear indicator! but find the fuel reading close to the gear bar difficult to see! It looks like the new Takengawa Super Multi DN TFT speedometer & tach is an improvement over the original! I now think I will be purchasing this! I have recently bought a 2022 Honda Grom and find the stock TFT Screen is more than adequate and is very easy to read and very visible with all the information you need! much better than the old Honda Monkey without a tacho meter! and better than the Takengawa earlier replacement for the Monkeybike! Thanks for the videos! Modifying my Honda Monkey 2018 and Honda Grom 2022 also as you post great how to videos! keep them coming! do you think you might tackle the Takengawa conversion for the older Monkey from 4 speed to make it a five speed?

  • @eastcoastish

    @eastcoastish

    Yes this harness was plug and play. You do also have to run a separate wire to the coil to pickup the pulse for the RPM since that wasn't a stock function on the Monkey.
