    I just finished the Mongolia Monkey Run riding a 49cc Skyteam ST50-8a. Very similar trails/tracks to this in parts. It's a real work out and the bikes hate soft sand and big rocks. It would have been a real blast with 125cc. Great video.

    Just got my Monkey last month. Found a great bunch of trails here in northern Michigan and love the maps on OnX Offroad. I also found out the Monkey hates deep sand. I was running with full pressure in my tires and just couldn't control it. Had a couple good falls and found out why people wear supportive boots. I thought I wouldn't get the bike off me for a while. My foot was twisted around under that darn air box. I'm kinda glad to hear your comments on the sand also. It makes me feel a bit better. We were down on the BR Parkway just a couple months ago though in a car. It's a beautiful place to ride.

    Great vid guys- Ive got a TW myself and have fooled around on that trail up near the campsites but can't imagine running that whole trail from the bottom on the bike- just too rocky to truely enjoy unless you love super technical. I'll stick to my FJ for that one and those mud puddles. Anyways kudos- great job conquering that trail on those bikes- especially the Monkey! enjoyed the ride

    Jeremy should stand up on the bike to get over stuff like the rock ledge - it allows for better balance. When you sit you get jerked around too much which throws off your balance! Looks like fun though 👍🏼😁

    I find watching someone conquer rough terrain like this on a bike we all wonder "Will it make it?! " so much more intriguing vs someone on a full sized ADV bike cruising on through it effortlessly. You going where no man has gone before on a lil' yellow fellow makes for a much more exciting viewer experience. Look forward to watching your adventures every time and it makes our day. And makes me want to call out sick to go ride my Monkey too 🤧🐒🛵🤠

    If I could make a suggestion, I really want to see you, on the Monkey tackling terrain like this.. I appreciate the helmet cam footage but I find it much more enjoyable to visualize you riding from a 3 person point of view. Again, this is simply just my opinion and I, too, understand that would be much harder to film.

    As long as he bring friend that exclusively to record him, I think he can do it. Problem is, bringing friend to have some fun together can be different with a friend to record his journey. His filming friend need to have better bike for this kind of situation, better equipment, and must well prepared too. Which is, leading to more budget to spend. But, if he can do that, it will be amazing!

    With the complaints of the smaller rims and tires would you suggest waiting for the Cub trail 125?

  • @UncleVoodoo

    @UncleVoodoo

    4 жыл бұрын

    yes and no. the CT125 will have a few advantages over the Monkey (wheel size, rack and intake) but it also has a couple of downsides where the Monkey will leave it for dead (auto clutch and low top speed). it will come down to the rider's needs as to which one would be better for the task at hand. while the wheel size advantage would've helped with the rocks here, the auto clutch would've led to having to push/drag/walk the bike in more situations (steep climbs and mud for example). clutch finesse is a very useful capability to have off road. plus the high 40s /low 50s top speed might limit whether id be willing to make the journey to reach a trail like this as well. its a double edged sword.

    R Miller I’m still curious about it myself. These are just my uninformed musings based upon what I can gather thus far. It’s pluses will surely outweigh the minuses depending what someone intends to do with it. I actually hope I’m wrong about the top speed.

  • @findingneutral

    I just rewatched 'Honda CT125 Standard Top Speed'. The average top speed for the most part on his GPS read 82-86ish KM = 50 to 52ish MPH? And my brain recalls something I read where it was said the CT125 was geared for more slower torquey riding and sacrificed some top end speed to do so. It will still be a very cool mini moto, but as you said the Monkey prevails as a better all arounder in that arena.
