That helped me more than you realize. I'm on the hunt for my first car and the HR-V has been my favorite for a while now. A lot of people I see reviewing them tend to either shame the car and make it look like a waste of money OR they make it seem like it's perfect with no flaws (and c'mon, everything has its flaws). But you gave the highs lows and everything in between which gave me the reassurance I needed. I also didn't even consider getting a broker. Dealers try getting over on me (female and 22) so that would definitely help me. Ah, I've said too much, I'm sorry. But thank you so so SO much for this review, you are greatly appreciated!!!

The AC is amazing in this car, turning radius is great. If you get performance tires you will feel every bump on the road. If you get a chance just get the comfy tires. When you put your car in D for drive. Put it in S, that’s suppose to give it a more sporty drive.

Just purchased an HRV sport, also murdered out. I used to be a big GTI guy, so i used to go back and forth between Volkswagen group cars and Hondas. Loving the car so much. This thing will be going reliabily after your old Audi is giving someone else headaches. I actually find it peppier than the power would have you believe. The 1.5 turbo would have been fun, but this k20 in the HRV is just bulletproof.

I loved your comments about the HRV EX L. I am thinking about buying an HRV Sport. I have a 2020 Honda Civic now. Thank you. 14:40

When I get mine, same trim, Im buying two lumbar cushions for both front seats. I will use the sport placement, to merge, or get up to speed, then go to normal, when I am up to speed. I test drove this model, three days ago and fell in love! It might be "slow", but it'll be slow 15-20 years from my purchase date! Love that back seat room. Rear Vents? Hey, Im the driver, lol. I love those Roof Rails, mines getting a mid size basket! Even if I never use it, I love that utilitarian look! I love the stereo and Safety features! I love its size! My current car, a Chevy Sonic 2013 is labled "slow". I have never had a problem in merging. I know, hill climbing will get noisy, but its either Lexus, Toyota, Mazda, Honda. The HR-V is the roomiest, of the 4, and that front dash! Feels Majestic and Well thought out!

Beautiful little car my wife just got a new CRV 2024 she loves it and wouldn’t get any different brand.

I was set on getting the HRV until I saw this video. I’ve always been loyal to Honda (owned 3 so far) despite some complaints but the slowness that everyone talks about is what deterred me from getting this. The CRV trim that I preferred was out of my budget so I’m now a proud owner of a Mazda CX5. I think Mazda will raise their car prices once they get a larger fanbase similar to Honda and Toyota so check them out if youre in the market for a midsized SUV. This isn’t an ad. I’m just genuinely surprised with how I’ve never looked into Mazdas until recently.

Thank you for this video. I got my used Audi A3 in 2022 and looking to trade it in but need to pay it down more within the next year so I still have positive equity on the car. Looking to go back to Honda again...either that or Mazda CX-5 because like you, I just want to put my money somewhere else and save/focus on other things. This video helped a lot!

Excellent review! Thank you. I'm in the market for a new car but don't need one right away. I haven't tested this car yet, it's my #1 choice, but I'm really concerned about it being too slow, everyone says that. I'm an older woman, not exactly a speed demon, but I want the acceleration when merging onto highways and turnpikes and this sounds almost dangerous!! On the other hand, turbo engines can be a lot of trouble as opposed to this much more reliable engine and I don't lease, I buy, and want it to last.

Yes this car is slow and I completely agree and understand where your coming from with the acceleration on highways etc, that’s when I put it in sport mode because if not it’s not moving much lol. I highly recommend you go test drive one at your local dealer to get a better in person feel for it🫶🏽 the speed is by far the biggest issue/flaw. Other than that it’s a beautiful car and extremely reliable.

Nice. I wish they can put the sport wheels with the EXLs

i apparently have way different speed standards than most lol. this is so much faster than all my other vehicles like the 05 accord, 15 pilot, or any truck i had too lol i was happy as shit at how zippy this car is

I was interested in a Boost Blue Pearl Civic Sport Hatchback until the HR-V came out, so I plan to get an Urban Grey Sport FWD, because it suits me even better fir what I want and need, even though I like the Civic. I think it's a little more classy and mature. The ribbed design on the lower doors and hatch area are cosmetic and to help reduce scuffs. The S on the shifter is the Sport mode, when you have your vehicle in Normal. The L is the low gear for when you need exta traction from stop and lower speeds. I found some nice leather srat covers online for $100 that I plan to get along with lots ots of OEM accessories like the weather/cargo mats and cover, rear seat back protectors, door sill trim and HPD front/rear bumper trim for looks and added scrape protection, and the exterior black emblems are a must. I'm so glad that the rear door and back glass is already gactory tinted. I just have to do the front door glass if I want to later. It's a common thing for cars here in Honolulu, Hi and we have one of the oldest and biest tinting shops in the nation. Maybe the first one. And I already know what aftermarket things I want to add, plus the $300 Pedal Commander to improve throttle response for better acceleration with lots of adjustment settings. The 2.0L is very reliable, with longevity and the engine power is adequate, but acceleration is slower that most people would like, hence my plan to address that. I wish they didnt delete the engine coolant temperature gauge and wish they also had a 12 volt outlet in the front, in addition to the one in the rear hatch. The ride is basically like the Civic with more body roll on sharper turns due to the higher ride height. Expect the Sport to have a slightly stiffer suspension tuning. For enthusiasts, getting the slightly lowered Eibach coil springs would probably address the issue with sharper handling and even a little more ride stiffness.I don't think I will need that. I don't drive fast much, never really did with faster cars in the past. The other gripe is thevwimpy horn. The College Hills Honda website had a CR-V horn upgrade that would probably work, but there are also aftermarket options. As far as your car, it looks really great all blacked out, like my Buick Grand National I had. The 18" wheels eould definitely look better, but the computer may have to be recalibrated for the bigger wheel diameter. It's great that you have the front/rear parking sensors with the EX-L., snd you got the extra bonuses for the down payment. I guess the lease works for you, especially with the lower monthly payment.

Hi! And I completely hear where your coming from. Yes coming from my V6 Q8 to this has been night and day. The ONLY issue and regret I have pertaining to this car is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT THE SPEED. It’s so slow, even when you put it in S, it makes so much noise and barely moves lol. I wish they offered a faster trim/package for this car because it would’ve made it unreal. But considering your in the same situation I was in I would really play out your pros and cons, to see what’s most important to you. Affordability and a very appealing modern interior and exterior is all this car has. Speed it lacks tremendously. I hit my first 5k miles on this car over the last weekend and I will be doing another updated review on it. But it’s just slow :( Like extremely slow lol

Yes I couldn’t agree more about the 18s” I looked into them but they wanted $2k from the dealership for them so I didn’t want to spend the money so I just decided powered coated the 17s it came with for $500

Did you change you change your rims to by 18 size?

CONGRATULATIONS 🥹😍 it’s the best. I had it wrapped! They charged me like $80 for that little piece at a local wrap shop. You can go on Yelp and “create a project” and send a picture to all your local wrap shops near you and they’ll send you quotes! And that’s how I found mine and went with the cheapest one🤍 and thank you so much!🫶🏽 I hope your enjoying your new baby😍

Yes that’s when it’s by far the slowest. But I put it in “S” mode and it is able to merge safely and efficiently. Looking back I would have personally gone with the CRV because of space. The HRV can feel a little small at times :/

@@Bill-ou4qq yes I was also extremely disappointed that they only offered the black rims on the sport trim. But yes there’s many options for your rims! You can have them vinyled, powder coated, or you can spray them with wheel paint that you can get from a local automotive shop. Powder coating is a little expensive but looks the best and will last the longest. The lowest quote I got was $500 and I went with that. On YELP you can “create a project for powder coating” and it’ll reach out to all the nearest automotive shops around you and they’ll send you quotes. :)

💯 AGREE on the seat comfort…the threads burn into my a$$ on a 40min drive…I use a cushion which is very frustrating…. I myself with a preferred cloth for the comfort that it provides… As for the speed, it takes a minute to get up to 60 miles an hour from the jump, but once it gets there, it really wants to go and keep going… I’m thinking about getting my rims “ powder coated” Thanks for letting me know. I can get that done. I have no idea. I thought you had to buy the car with them when I call “black” package….. as for the luggage rack on top, I don’t think it adds anything aesthetically to the outside. I think it kinda looks odd but that’s just my opinion and you said it yourself it’s each personal preference, I myself do not prefer that luck. It takes the sportiness away from the car I believe but I do love my car and it wasn’t 20,000 it was 35,000 and I put 10,000 down to purchase it and I still am financing 24,000.

Mom has an 18 accord and has screen freezing/bluetooth issues it may be the manufacturers that the brands are getting the new screens from

Nice overview, you sure it's leather or vinyl? I tried out the sport trim with cloth seats. They were comfy and the car is better than even some of the midsized cuvs I've been in. The ride quality and interior quality /finish and fit is also best in class for the price. Maybe Corolla cross is tied but I don't like the look of it. Did you consider a RAV4 at all???

It charges EXTREMELY slow I’ve never been able to get more that 10% out of it from using the charging pad😔 but when I plug in my wire to the usb or usbc outlet it charges super fast and I would say honestly like 30-1hr at most depending on the percentage your phone is already at. But I never use the charging pad it charges so slow that it’s a waste of time so definitely use the wire port!💕😍 for a quick charge

Thanks so much for the reply! Also have you experienced your rear window shattering on you? Ive been hearing alot of complaints from customers who owned the hrv saying there is a defect pertaining to the rear window. How is your car holding up, and problems or concerns? Thinking about getting one and just wanted to ask questions before purchasing. Is this car a auto start/stop? If so does it have a button to turn that feature off?

Im definitely getting a window cover cause that leather dont okay when the sun is out. 😢 It will probably help with the entertainment too.

Nice Ride!!! Kia and Hyundai offer more power and features on the Seltos (Kia) and Kona (Hyundai), BUT are they as reliable? Heck no! I'm actually looking at purchasing an HR-V EX-L at some point. My days of fast gas guzzlers are over.

Well this is my truth with my 2024 honda hrv. I purchased car 3 weeks ago and it's having vibration issues. When driving 40 to 70mph. Going on my 4th time to a different dealership to see what's going on. It's a brand new car should not be having issues. I hope nobody has this issue.

The s isn't for sport but it does give you more power for going up a steep hill or pulling something. Yes the L is for low speed and provides your engine with better breaking I would say for going down steep areas and sharp turns. It's in the maunual

Yes of course, I went on Yelp and submitted a project for “wheel powder coating” I got messages from local automotive shops and went with the cheapest being $500 for all 4 rims. There’s many options to paints rims powder coating is by far the most costly but last the longest in my experience 🫶🏽 please let me know if you have any other questions 🙏🏼

How do you sell a leased car? We have one due to be returned in a year?

Hi! So you have two options that I’m aware of you can sell it to carvana carmax vroom and all other smaller car buying companies etc, the only problem with that is you have to pay the sales tax on the car once it’s sold which can be a lot if the car was sold for a lot. But depending on which company you choose to sell it to sometimes they have ways around the sales tax and that way you profit/maximize your earnings OR you can sell it private party which in my experience this way requires more work to constantly have to show people the car but you pay off your car or let the buyer pay it off and then you receive your title and transfer everything to the other persons name. And you keep whatever amount you agreed to sell it for. And the difference goes back into your account or theirs.

Looking for an EXL. Tough to find. They are slow.

You said you waited 2 months..was that waiting for it to be built after you ordered/purchased it?

I waited two months for it to be delivered to California/the Honda dealership I got it from in LA so it was already a incoming car for that dealership. I just had reserved it by running my credit for that specific car/VIN. So yes, basically if you go to any dealership and inquire on any specific car they will look at their incoming car list and tell you what colors, trims, models etc are coming in and you can select from that list what you want to reserve before it even goes on Hondas car lot, website, etc. The reason I did it this way was because I had no other option. Every dealership I went to had no HRV’s available. So I had no choice pretty much.

I wanted the EX-L Nordic Forest Pearl w/grey interior and finally found one inbound to Sacramento so I reserved it.. and now we wait lol! But glad to know the 2 month ETA seems legit based on your experience :) your review was so helpful ❤

@@NicholasRedman I’m so happy you were able to find one! Those are extremely rare because of the color combo/interior. It’s by far the most beautiful and sought after one. I myself was looking for one of those but got impatient and frustrated because none were coming in anywhere near where I live. So I went with black on black which was second choice but Wow!That is so exciting! AND Congratulations sincerely your going to love it. Such beautiful reliable cars. And thank you so much for all the support🤍 but yes 2 months is definitely normal wait for these cars especially with the trim and interior your getting.

I’d like the roof rack too. I’m guessing the $300 was not for installation too?

Hi the roof racks are from honda I spray painted them black and installation was around $60 at some local automotive shop

First of all congratulations! This is perfect for a first car, it’s the perfect size and like I mentioned has every feature you could possibly want or need. I think you will absolutely love it, it’s sleek, modern, and absolutely beautiful inside and out. The interior is spacious and has so much to offer. Like I said your definitely going to love it I promise you that much!🙂

Leases are a total waste of money, buy it outright and keep it for several years! You could have saved a few thousand and bought this car for less monthly! You could have put the 8K down on this car and owned it for the same payment!!

Thank you and I completely hear where your coming from but it works for me, and I personally prefer it over purchasing. I change cars every 1/2 years so leasing is the best option for me🫶🏽

I’m pretty sure she can write it off in her business taxes. Granted that is only if she has a business and did it through her business.

So you got the grey bumper wrapped, the rims powder coated, and the roof rack right? Taking notes I was about to replace my bmw x4 that got totaled out this won’t be as fast but it’s cute enough

Yes, correct. I spray painted the roof racks black because honda only makes them in silver but the racks can be wrapped which I definitely recommend because the paint is already chipping from things hitting it on the freeway on my previous car. I had the racks wrapped and they lasted me almost 3 years, so I would definitely recommend that over painting them how I did. And I’m sorry to hear about ur x4 🙏🏼 yes it’ll be a lot slower but it’s very cute 🥰

Are those cross bars detachable? Or are they bolted to the car?

Also, did you ever find out the exact color you spray painted the bars? Still patently waiting for mine to be delivered. I want mine to look as close as yours in this video. It's exactly how I want mine!

Being on the same platform it needs the civics turbo engine.
