Honda CRV: No Power, VSA & Red Brake Light On

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I have a look at an older CRV that has a customer complaint of no power (won't go over 35mph) they also stated that the red brake light and VSA light was on. Are the problems related? Let's find out! -Enjoy!

Got a chance to meet Eric last week while I happened to be in the area and had a tire leaking. Great guy, super accommodating even though I caught him right as he was closing up. Thanks so much for taking care of the tire and being a cool guy to talk to for a few minutes! Love your channel keep these videos coming! I find them super helpful and enjoyable to watch!

A few years back a friend brought me a 10 yr old cr-v that was in Syracuse area and later southern Fl. Couldn’t believe how much corrosion it had on everything underneath. First issue was getting the wheels to come off the hubs. Then the caliper pins where nearly frozen. Put all new brake components on and got it all working again. The rust belt is so hard on vehicles. Love the videos and your teaching.

I really like how you show both common sense mechanical tests and investigations along with computer support to get a better picture of the problems going on. Unfortunately some newer mechanics rely solely on computer analysis which doesnt always give you the whole story. I also try to get as much history from the customer as I can. I like to solve the problem, not pass it on. Please keep teaching as you go. Great content!

I've had countless hours of empathy and soft skills training. None of those give you an easy way to tell a customer they made a silly mistake. "Somehow the car was out of brake juice. I've seen this happen before when mice drink the brake juice when you weren't paying attention. I've also seen it happen once when someone did a brake job and didn't refill the brake juice. Pretty sure this was a mouse incident." ??

My good friend, John B had the "plan C" happen to him in his 1973 Corvette. I was following him to Corvettes at Carlisle and kept seeing blue smoke from the exhaust. We stopped and checked engine oil a few times but it was always full. We never considered the master cylinder until the brakes failed. He was able to bring it to a safe stop but sure enough the master cylinder was empty. We replaced it and no more exhaust smoke.

I bought a 2003 CR-V (new) and failed to truly appreciate its ergonomics when I owned it. Thanks to the handbrake, dash shifter, and fold down center tray, my 6'5" frame fit nicely in it without banging knees against massive hard plastic center consoles that did nothing but suck up space. Also, oddly, I did notice that it had a very small brake fluid reservoir (as does my other Honda). I should have kept it as my daily, but I was short on parking at the time.
