Honda Crosstourer Side Panel removal (tutorial)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here's a quick Tutorial on how to remove the panels on the side of the Crosstourer.
I've started this one with the panels off so you can see what is underneath. Let me know if you have any questions.
Good luck.

Thanks for the video. Came in very handy for my radiator guard/bash plate/centre stand/K&N air filter installation. My every day ride is a 97 CBR1000F.. I thought with that bike Honda had reached their pinnacle of making DIY servicing on their bikes impossible. This 1200X just blew me away. Boy the Honda engineers have been busy since 1997. It makes the CBR1000F a dream bike to work on. I like their switch from hex bolt to 12mm bolt on the plastics. Genius. And the fact you can't remove the upper plastic with the crash guards still on the bike. No tank stand is also a great idea to make life difficult for road side problems. Brilliant Honda. I'd hate to be on the side of the road trying to pull out the air filter. I'm sure the engineers are laughing their collective arses off at my expense. A power commander and dyno run at ProCycles was required to get the fuel/air mix correct for the K&N and open slip on. She runs really well now and the 5HP gain was a nice bonus. 116HP at the rear wheel is excellent for a big chook chaser. Hopefully fuel consumption has improved as well. I've also added a fender extender and a rear hugga to keep the spray to a minimum. All ready for my trip from Brisbane to Karumba via a heap of back roads in 2 weeks :)

Thanks for this, very informative. My aftermarket crash bars block the bottom screw so they had to come off as well - that's another story. My bike is 7 years old (I've had it one year) and I'm pretty sure once I got to it that it was the original air fliter.

First thing I do with a new (to me) bike is service it so I know what’s what. FYI, You don’t need to remove the side covers to service the air box. Just unscrew them so you can lift the tank

Test ode the FA model last week and noticed the cooling fans came on pretty early on a cool day in Melbourne, does the Crosstourer emit much heat around the crutch, I really hate that feeling probably more than you hate the rain. How to you go with those valve adjustments, they quote $1200, for the FA model.

Hi Gili, i don't notice excessive heat from the clutch side nor does the fan come on much, unless I'm in the bush or really heavy traffic. As for the valves, I had mine done at 40k (by my mobile guy who is very good) for less than $500

Very helpful! I installed Honda OEM crash bars yesterday, your video helped me a lot. The instructions had an error in it, there are three rivets to take off on each side inside the fairing (top rivets), only two mentioned in the OEM instructions. Thanks for sharing all those great videos!
