I had one of these. Now I have 2 Husqvarna's, a 2-stroke, and a lightweight adventure bike. As soon as these break I'll go back to the Honda again. Such fond memories of this little bike.

Perfect for the road but not off road at speed. That being said I've owned both 300l and the rally and if the LS version comes to Australia then I'll admit I'd buy another for the road.

Got mine from new October 2023, few upgrades done, absolutely love this bike, I'm out more on this than I am my Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Amazing looking trail, beware of those drop-offs, they look a long way down, I've already had the misfortune of coming off on the deep side, some minor damage to the bike that cost me £175 & bruises for souvenirs 😂, take care, looking forward to seeing more 👍

  • @Fromatic

What damage cost you £175? As I've dropped mine many times now on the lanes and even when it's rocky it's only been snapped front brake lever before I had hand guards, a bent rear brake lever and snapped indicators replaced now with micro LED ones all round, but all that must have only cost maybe £60 in replacement parts

@@mototripperuk wow surprisingly pricey, how did you break that bit out of interest? I did put the j-tech tail tidy on which may have helped keep things out the way, but you mentioning the plate does remind me on a recent Wales trip I went down and still ripped the plate off, replaced it with a flexible one from Flexi plates which adds another £15 to my replacement parts

I was on a trail that got smaller the further along it I went, there was a drop to the left and an incline to the right, it started to get too narrow and rocky to go any further, however I'm a novice at off road and don't have the skills to turn the bike round in such a small space, so had no choice but to go forward, the bike hit a rock and knocked me off on the drop to the left, bike was okay at this point, when I tried to get the bike up I couldn't due to its position, had to drag it round to face the way I came and that's when the damage occurred.

In response to mention of no skid plate. Even though you are not grinding over boulder's, log's etc. It is quite possible for the front tire to send a rock into the engine case and put you out of business. Looks like Castiac. There's also a cool ride off the N2 that I used to do that takes you to Lake Hughes. We'd ride out there and have lunch at the local biker bar and then ride back. As long as you weren't being stupid the local law was cool with you riding non-plated bikes into town. My wife would ride her DRZ125L and I'd ride my RM250. We'd have quads and a Honda Pilot 400 along as well. There's another route above Sunland that takes you to the east side of the mountains. Check in with the local ranger office and they'll give you the lock code for the gates up there. When I was living In Santa Clarita from '02-'05 very few people knew about it.

Suspension is too soft, but it's an easy fix . It's better than the Kawi due to how they both did their motors . Team Green just stroked their motor. Honda did their displacement but never touched the stroke . So the Honda motor is still cheap to upgrade the motor . But team green will cost you more motor wise . But Kawi gave you a better suspension in turn .

Man, what a nice place to ride. Wish we had mountains here in Florida. I am about to get a 300l on Sunday. Can't wait. By my job, there is a dirt bike and ATV park. But in other places, a lot of sand trails. But I also have Vtx1300c, MT-07, and a Grom. A little bit for everything.

These little fuel tanks need to go away. Stop buying them until they put 12 liter tanks on all these little dual sports

Is it worth it? It's dirt cheap, of course it is.

I had the crf250l and thought about getting the crf300l but when i found out it only has 286cc i felt like it wouldnt be worth the upgrade. I bought the mighty suzuki dr650 and love it. So glad i didnt buy the crf300l. Here is a link to my crf vs dr650 video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nn2g1qmHlbbZmso.htmlsi=SycaBSkHhTLhew12

That’s exactly why I bring up the actual measurement of the cylinder volume… because it’s not actually 300cc, and the fact they din’t say the actual number might cloud some people’s judgment in the case of an upgrade! I’ll watch your video on the DR650! I also have one!

They suck. Complete dog with no power and terrible suspension. It’s inexcusable for Honda to make that pig weigh as much as it does and the engine is completely gutless. The only thing that is good about these bikes is that they are cheap and available, that’s it.
