That tyre is 100% repairable take it to a good tyre fitter that does bike tyres and they will fit a proper mushroom repair plug it will be good for the life of the tyre .

I always take a puncture repair kit, the kit with the plugs and a small compressor. It does work. I remember being caught out on a biker trip and saved me waiting for the recovery guys to turn-up. I rode throughout the trip and it is still in the tyre. The puncture you have can be plugged.

I carry a puncture repair kit too. If you have tubeless tyres it's daft not to as it'll save you loads of time and grief if you get one out in the sticks. I have both the sticky string and screw type bungs in my kit, together with an airman pump, but even the CO2 mini cylinders can get you out of trouble if you don't have the space to carry a mini pump. They're inexpensive to buy on ebay too👍

I carry and Oxford T8 tail pack with repair kit, air cylinders, first aid kit and waterproofs. Would suit that Honda really we'll!

Same here. I have the sticky string, reamer, gunge and CO2 canisters. But I've also fitted Fobo 2 tyre pressure monitors. Recommended. I can see the pressures at any time via an app. on my phone. There's no way I'd throw away a tyre as good as that. The crosshead screw is easily extracted and will not have done much damage to the tyre, though it might have scratched the inside of the rim (depending on Mr Jay's weight!). Plenty of KZread videos maintain the sticky string botch will last the remaining life of the tyre. And safely. I would re-use the screw for a woodworking project. My second Honda is identical to Mr Jay's. I only use it for grass-tracking.

i agree 100%. my new bike doesnt have one and u can't get a 3rd party one to fit either, and neither are there tapped holes for bobbins for a paddock stand, but u can buy then as add-on replacements to the rear wheel chain tensioner thingy, so i paid £35 for a Ryde Motorycle Tyre Spinner on amazon to make oiling the chain & cleaning the wheels easier. it's a bit of a PIA but better than wheeling it back and forth. GL

Nice lawn mower, great looking country side quite busy though , fine day here in New Zealand time to get the Honda CB 1974 125s out for a wee ride.

I feel your pain. It's so easy to take things for granted. I Picked up the same screw as you yesterday by the looks, almost in the same part of the tyre.... I concur with those that have said to carry the rubber Strand style plug repair kit (easy goes under the seat), works a treat and helped me escape the Aldi carpark yesterday. It does require a fair amount of heft to push the buggers in mind so if you get chance to practice on an old tyre I would. Obviously you'd need to carry a mini compressor too. £40 to £60 well worth it.

@@WyreForestBiker FYI: i bought an UPBOOST Ultra | Smart Portable Tyre Inflator | 7800mAh Battery last year for £30 on amazon, great battery life, & does the job, does the car tyres easy as well as grandkids footballs etc but don't carry it on the bike. i saw a review recently on a tiny thing that looked great for spacesaving on bikes but it was over £100 lol, cant remember the name

like others i carry one of those sticky string/glue/reamer/CO2 kits but have been fortunate enough to never need it yet, (touch wood), but i still watch the odd vid on youtube how to use it properly, so i don't forget, and if all else fails i still have most of my 2 yr honda roadside assistance left. 'The book' seems to say that this type of repair is just for temporary get u home use, but ive heard that many ride 1,000's of miles on them without issue, so i think on a decent tyre as long as it wasn't obviously bad near the wall or something, i'd at least give it a shot & keep checking the pressure to see how it holds up first. GL

Punctures can really ruin days 😞 If you haven't already had a repair in that tyre it's worth popping it off and having a good look. It's definitely in a position that's repairable as long as it hasn't done any internal damage. I've repaired similar several times and never had any issues. My CB500X is running with a very similar hole repaired with a plug patch from the inside.

Just carry a repair kit and an inflator ( Ring do an excellent recharable one) with you at all times. Plenty of videos on utube about it .

I dread that as I still have tubed tyres! I think that I prefer the twin to the Honda single....

I don’t know why so many riders don’t carry a puncture repair kit. At very least just to get you home. Much quicker than sitting waiting on recovery. I’m also not sure why riders think their tyre is shot once it’s had a puncture. You wouldn’t throw away a perfectly good car tyre, you’d have it repaired.

Yes, I have two rope plugs in a back tyre and it holds air as well as the unpunctured front. Michael Neeves of MCN rode across half of Europe on a plugged rear tyre. Long gone are the days when I allowed bike shops into having me 'waste' a tyre.

Many years ago i had a screw in the same position. Tbh i tightened the screw in and rode on it for the next 4 months. Never had a problem, it remained air tight right up to wearing out.

Bad luck David I tend to carry my own little compressor and repair kit to get me home worth doing as you never know and of course if I had happened passed I would have given you a hand with a repair as I am sure many would 😉👌👍

I carry a can of Fix A Flat. It has worked out in the past.

Bad luck David, but fortunate you had the other Honda to play on 😂😂😂😂. Mine are all tubed tyres so I started carrying a little electric tyre pump in the panniers so I could, hopefully, keep topping up if I ever got a puncture and try to get home or to a garage.

If you felt the wobble immediately as you say, then you should have stopped immediately not driven on while you thought about it, then you could have just PUSHED the bike home, as it is illegal to ride with under inflated tyre it can be very dangerous, if you had to swerve or brake in an emergency to avoid a child you would not have made it, as others have already said the tyre can be saved, have it checked at reputable garage, just in case you ruined it by riding it under inflated

Guilty here of not checking tyres/pressures, took my 95 V Max out the other day after it had sat six months (replaced the carb mounting rubbers over the winter), it felt a lot more wayward than a V Max usually does lol, got back home and the front tyre was soft, unforgivable as i must have left the house like that, fortunately it was only round the block.

Bit of a bummer Dave I popped in the Cafe at lunchtime for a bacon sarnie and it was rammed. I would definitely throw a plug in that tyre if it was me. I normally carry a plug kit with me on the GS but I'd be buggered on the Bonneville with tubed tyres which is my only major gripe with it.

Hi David l recently had a repair in exactly the same area on my Z1000Sx, cost me £40 with the wheel off at a motorcycle repair shop and it's been to France since two up with luggage no problem, hope your back on the road soon bud 👍

Never good when you are out. At least you could get it back home. I have a desert fox compressor wasn't cheap at over £40 but runs off the bike so will reinstate a completely flat tyre. I have a repair kit too. I did use a rechargeable compressor their longevity is not so good and sometimes struggle reininflating a tyre from flat. Hope it gets sorted if the sidewall isn't damaged it may be repairable

Replaced the rear tyre on my CMX500 at about 8000 miles, then got a puncture on the new tyre after less than 100 miles. Like yours it was in the centre of the tread. I couldn't find anyone willing to repair it.

What a frustrating thing ! I feel for you.

Any decent tyre repair place should be able to fix that for you no need to go to the expense of a new tyre.

A plug will sort that out, you don't even need to remove the wheel. I live 10 mins walk from you. I can help if you need.

I just hot my CL500 two days ago. It's my first bike. So it's not possible for me to compare to other heated grips. They need some time to get hot. My fingers couldn't feel any difference. But I enjoyed the heat at my palms ☺️

That tyre looks as if its repairable as the screw is in more of a central position than towards the sidewall, fingers crossed.🤔👍

Probably the soft tyre was the reason you cut every junction you pull in and out off ? any that will repair no problem,, carry a repair kit and tiny compressor and your on your way in minutes...

I always cut corners to save fuel and tire wear .... glad you spotted it.

Damn that sucks, I had the same thing happen to me over here just a week after I got my SCL from the dealer, a screw right in the sidewall! Luckily the stock tire (Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour) wasn't too expensive to replace , but it was just a headache to go through. I feel for you man.

I had a pinhole leak in a tube used my can of Fix A Flat, worked great and I got8,000 more miles out of the tire. On my URAL side car outfit lrun them bald. When they go flat l put a new tire

Pull the screw out, plug it, air it up and go! What’s the big deal? Oh not being prepared that’s it!

As mentioned ‘plug it’ you want the sticky pipe cleaner type. I have used them on many bikes and car too. Never replaced the tire nor gone down. That location is perfect for its use.

@@WyreForestBikermy new rebel cmx 500 got a screw in it , I noticed it when i got the bike out of the shed but it wasn’t flat as I noticed it when I was looking back at the bike , my bike only had 300 miles on it so I used the sticky string and it’s kept it’s 29 psi , I have done 3700 miles on it like that .

I find the roads quieter on Sunday and tend not to use the main ones. String puncture repair kit and that should see the tyre ok. 15 minute job. No need to replace it. But that didn't work for me once when the hole was too big and I had to ride 15 miles on a flat front. The faster I went (within reason)the better it handled. That wouldn't be the case with a back tyre though.
