Short shifting a civic si is the faster way around a racetrack. We live in strange times.

Just bought a 2020 civic si. I was cross shopping it with the civic hatch sport cvt. I test drove the hatch first and i wasn't impressed with the power. Even around 3k rpm i didnt feel much surge of power. It felt too much like my 2011 mazda 3 2.5 hatch in terms of power delivery. I test drove the Si right after and it is the first car i ever drove that made me giggle. Past 3k there is a shove and you really feel the torque pushing you into the seat. It really feels and sounds amazingly good. Clutch and transmission is amazing, i havent driven stick in many years and i picked it right back up. Looking at numbers it is not a big difference between Si and Sport hatch, but driving them back to back i know there is a huge difference in power. Its much closer to a Gti and Wrx

Dude the Si is barely faster than the Sport CVT. I drove them back to back, the Si might have a little more torque but you cannot shift it fast because of the awful rev hang. It's not really a good car because Honda didn't want it to be. They saved rev matching shifts for the Type R for marketing reasons, rev matching with fly by wire throttles is the easiest thing to implement.

Too be fair, FWD is inherently advantageous in poor weather conditions compared to RWD. Doesn't help that the BRZ is already undertired, especially when compared to the competition in this Lightning Lap. Hopefully the 2022 Lightning Lap gives us a more fair comparison with the new BRZ and Si.

Underpantsniper you're totally right! It only was 4 miles an hour slower then a porshe 911 in the straight, took a corner over 10 miles an hour faster then the new track tuned 1LE and destroyed the times of the focus st, fiesta st, s2000 cr, and wrx. In fact the only car that beat it in this segment was a wrx with full track package which includes suspension upgrades and brembo brakes. This car is sooo dull!!!

Well, you can't read it's okay I'll help you. Nowhere did I say this car had a higher top speed then the 911 it's more interesting that you googled the top speed for both cars but you couldn't bother opening the link right under this video and read the article where it says this "At the top, the Si hit 110.4 mph, which is 12.5 mph faster than an equally powerful BRZ and only 4.0 mph off the 580-hp 911 Turbo S." Again all you have to do is click this link www.caranddriver.com/LL2017 Then browse and read the article about the Si's lap AMAZING RIGHT READING IS FUN!!!!!!!

I didn't google top speeds, you can see them before braking for the 1st corner, AKA as "the straight". Top of the esses is NOT the STRAIGHT! Maybe you need to state your point better. But yeah, the Si did have good high speed stability, I'm a fan.
