Honda City Hybrid (Pt.1): Walkaround Review - 2 Years After Launch, But Still Relevant!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This Honda City test is at the request of our viewers. Although it is 2 years old, it is still a popular car. Built with Honda's Man Maximum, Machine Minimum, the City maximises the utility of space. Fuel consumption is excellent and the combination of engine and hybrid motor power gives it plenty of get-up-and-go!
It has 4 airbags, VSA, (Vehicle Stability Assist) HSA ( Hill Start Assist) and ESS ( Emergency Stop Signal)

    sam kong @YS Khong Driving My family own this 2 car. First we bought the ioniq 6 month later my wife bought City hybrid consider 10K lower in price. Now City is just 2 year old. The ioniq is belong to my sis in law . She stayed in my house. So I often drive this 2 car. Although I own a 9 year old starex. City only win the infotainment head unit and the boot space. 1 major problem with City is the main battery capacity and hybrid electric motor power. The battery capacity is just 50% of the ioniq. So the City more often to use the engine for drive main it's fuel efficiency is lower than ioniq. For cheras to Shan alam work day drive ioniq can achieve 25-27km/L. City only achieve 20-21km/L. Ioniq also lower maintenance fee then city coz ioniq's service intervel is 15K km. And city hybrid is 10K km. And Hyundai Malaysia provide more free services change and free lubricant then Honda If we recosider to choose. Definitely will not buy the city hybrid.

    I currently own the city hybrid 2019. Although the city hybrid is not at the highest spec but the driving pleasure is really to another level compared to the petrol version hybrid. The only issue I have is during the DCT gear interchange from the first gear to the second gear. It seems like the car always struggles to choose between utilising the petrol or the battery during the first and second gear interchange. In regards to the infortaiment, its definitely a real let down, but I managed to resolve that but forking out a little bit money to upgrade it to a android car play and also adding in additional bass. As for the rest, I am pretty happy with everything especially the torque when it comes to over taking on the highway.

    I currently own a City for 3 years, and I still enjoy driving it. I think the City still looks great although they have not gone through any major changes for some years. As for Honda's hybrid lineup, my main complain is the lack of a full spec version. Have to chose between full spec model or hybrid/DCT

    Uncle, what's ur advice on the possible maintenance, repairing, replacement cost of the hybrid system (eg. battery and inverter etc)? Will it ultimately offset all the penny saved from the low fuel consumption (or even more)??

  • @YSKhongDriving

    @YSKhongDriving

    I think only battery needs changing and price at moment is RM6k+. Battery prices are going down by the month, but in 6 to 8 years, I donno how much it will really go down. If an average person drives 20 k Kms a year, he may save about 5 k km, at normal consumption of 10 km per litre, he would have saved 500 litres of fuel or RM1k a year. You buy a hybrid to save the earth, and if you look at the price versus the standard unit, yes you save a little, or at lease enough to cough it out for a new battery after 6 years. If it stretches to 8 years, you save 2 k.

    I personally own the 2018 honda city hybrid. Very satisfied with the performance and comfort of the car. Though the infotainment system is a letdown. Great value for money and a good overall car in it's segment. The lowest fuel consumption recorded for me is 16.7km/l when i find myself driving in a start stop traffic in KL. Having said that, i sometimes wish that i bought the hyundai ioniq.
