Actually removing the snorkel reduces the effectiveness of your airbox, the snorkel is there to help channel air into the box in a predictable way, without it the air is sucked in and bounces around causing issues with the airflow and most likely causing the bike to run richer, which is probably why your bike cut out when blipping throttle. more air would mean the bike would run leaner and burn fuel faster, its not good for your engine to run lean but I don't think it would have cut out under those circumstances, but you would need to tune the engine for it or risk damaging the engine. in reality what probably happened was that your bike was running too rich, got too much fuel too fast and cut out because it didn't have enough air to burn the fuel. if you really want to get induction sound and more airflow get the correct style of performance filter and tune the bike for the increased airflow so you don't damage it by running too lean. However saying that, unlike running too lean, running rich most likely wont damage your engine apart from increased risk of flooding the engine.

Very interesting... it’s not a mod I’ve seen elsewhere, and a zero cost, totally reversible mod is rare. I’m definitely trying this out for laughs as soon as UK weather permits. In November that’s a bit hit and miss, but I’ll let you know. Thanks for showing us this!

I’ve done it now. The sound is a lot bassier under power but unchanged off power. It might be psychological (almost certainly) but she feels a bit perkier in low revs, but ultimately there’s no extra power from this mod as far as I can tell. Definitely fun to try though.

More air more fuel = more power more air not enough fuel = hot engine no power Don’t do this on carb version unless u match the jetting and idleing

@@neuclearb0mb The JC34 is carbureted, the JC36 and JC50 are fuel injected, the version he is working on is a JC36.

Did you ever complete the exhaust mod on the 125?

Hi. The bike comes with it standard from the factory. If you dont have one then your best bet would be to look for a cbr that they are breaking up.

Should i put on an after market air filter or keep the stock one ?

I would keep the stock one.this is not a performance mod and wont give any power gains.this is just for sound thats all
