Cool video. I found my 72 CB750 chained to a clothes pole next door to a drug house. Did not run. The owner told me his brother was going to take it and dump it in a field out in the country. It had a clean title so I offered him $150.00. He took the offer. Got it home and after some work got it running. Pulled the engine out and cleaned everything up, replaced all wear out items, and 15 years later still riding it.

That is absolutely awesome brother! God bless you for taking an old Honda and getting it back on the road man! I really do love seeing people do things like this, and you totally saved it from being dumped in a field! who in the hell would do that to a classic Honda that has a damn title! thank God you were there brother, enjoy her infinitely brother!

Those 750's were the superbikes back in the day.

Just bulletproof, those classic Honda 4’s. Bike sounds amazing, given its previous inactivity.

I am 58 years old now but that old 750 brings me back some really fond memories they were relatively a simple design they had the single cam and adjustable tappets which made them easy to work on well to a point anything really serious the engine had to come out but even that wasn't really difficult but I had forgotten that they ran the oil tank but they are worth quite a few dollars now if you can find one.

Bro this is the first time I've ever been excited to comment on a youtube video! Thank you so much for doing this video. I've got a CB 750 that I've had for years. But just looking at it looks overwhelming. Thank you for showing/reminding me of how easy classic CB's are to work on. I am feeling inspired enough to go clear out space in the garage and get to work on it. Thanks again.

@Kerry C I just started doing this too. Got it all pulled apart. Cleaned the carbs, new oil and filter, new battery, tires aired up. It's been sitting for about 8 years and I don't know what's came over me.

me and my wife bought a 1980 CB 750 about 10 years ago. Sweet bike

Wow had the 1972 CB750 when I was a teen and loved that bike. It was stolen in 1975 and the frame was found stripped in Memphis. I never got another bike and bought a car. Glad you got it running I was excited to hear it fire up and run brought back memories.

My cb750k was sitting 12 years when I purchased it 6 years ago. Basically done the same thing that was done here. Fast forward to today. Electronic ignition, 4 into one. Complete carb rebuild and re-jet. Tuff side seat and it’s FINALLY looking good and running awesome!! They want to run!!!

The SOHC 750 fours are testament to Hondas' reliable nature. The fact that its sat for an undisclosed time before you began troubleshooting it says a lot about how easily they can be put back in running trim. I hope the next owner enjoys it.

People (not Bikers) buy motorcycles on a whim, ride them a few times a year, and at some point have a near death experience due to their poor riding skills. That's when they walk away from them.

My Dad had a cb750 when I was a kid. Unfortunately it got sold before he passed away. I really loved that bike and I hope to have one of my own someday.

This is something that l have been doing for years. I find old but desirable bikes and clean and repair them. It's a fun hobby, and l get to ride some very nice bikes for not much money. Good luck, and enjoyment in your hobby.

As clean as the carbs was could tell it was taken care of also no heavy pitting on the wheels or rust spots so who had it kept it inside a shed or garage most its life 😉 Would say that is a pretty good score 10/10 ⭐

Started riding street bikes on a 78 CB550K. Great little bikes. Sold it to a friend after I bought a 97 Suzuki. Someday I might just have to go with a 750 to restore.

Great to see these videos, takes me back to the seve;nties when I had a cb500 and cb550, and much later I an eighties honda 750. It's always those seventies Hondas I remember most fondly, they had something. You could actually work on them yourself, they had a distinct character I never felt with the later models. I had a cbx550 and it felt more like an appliance, never really bonded with it. Look forward to more videos

Right on CO, I just got an '82 KZ650 going a few weeks ago, it was/is in very similar shape. The seller included 2 sets of carbs, one was a pair of BS34's off of a KZ1000. I got the bike started and then threw the carbs on ebay, they sold for $300 a few days later! Half the bike is already paid for by just selling the carbs lol. Doing another draw-through turbo setup with a Garrett T25, bike will easily be a 150hp+ monster on low boost. Anyways glad to see you back on the old Honda's Taylor. I'm looking forward to the new build reveal. European?

I have a friend that’s offering me a slightly disassembled ss 750 for $250, I guess I’ll get it even though having 17 bikes I’m short on space.

Your carbs were much cleaner than mine, which I had been running for several years, amazing considering how it was found. These motors take a lot to stop them.

I had a 81 CB750 Custom back in 89 when I was 16. Paid $1800 for it. LOVED IT! Only had 26,000 on it. Traded it for a Motor Home in 99 and got $2500 for it. .. Well in 2022 Found another one. Had 26,000 on it. Even Came with a In Great Shape Color Matching Front Cowl/Fairing and Intact Windshield. Was on Facebook. Get Scammed. Owner treated it like a Dirt Bike and F'ed it up. Got it Running Just Good enough to Trick me. Paid $2200 for it. Got it home and Road it 4 Times before it went to Shit.. Brought it to a Repair Shop and Found out it needed the Engine Rebuilt, New Shocks and Exhaust ( still have to get but good enough for now ), Tires, Chain, New Brakes and Cylinder and some other things. Gas/Fuel Tank was Completely Rusty inside. 2yrs and $5,000 Later, It IS Ride-able and LOVE IT! Exhaust is Different from my first one. First one had the Single Hole but Four Pipes. This one has Multi Holes and Dual Exhaust and is a Bit Louder. Has a Wind thingy over the gauges.. Helps I guess. I can wear my FlexFit Baseball Cap up to 50mph and not worry about it coming off. Also had to get new mirrors... Got them from Amazon and are SHITE! Has the Back Rest and Rack like my first one also. Even the Same Blue Paint Scheme. Had to get a New Seat made.. Again it IS Ride-able As is and will have to get new shocks at one point and new exhaust pipes also.. Getting between 36 and 50 Miles per gallon. Depending on Type of gas I put in. And since only go back and forth into Town, I don't go over 50mph.. What I hate, is when you look them up, they show up as Fucking Cafe Racers... I DO and Don't mind the money I paid for it and to have it fixed.. I will NOT Get Rid of it.. May be a Bit of a Pain in the Ass and Legs to get on and off of it now adays that I am 50yrs old.. But just Feels Sooo good once on and riding.. As of Typing this, It only has 350 miles on the Fresh Rebuild. Thank You Father In Heaven...

Im working on a 73 CB 750, I've got alot to do, I have a complete engine that turns bobber frame, no complete wiring, I have the coils.... the wires are torn out, no carbs, engine is rough, all the fun

The internals were perfect bar one idle jet , clean the points add gas ,so nice when you get an easy one

@Classic Octane I purchased a beautiful old Honda bike that wasn’t running when I got it. I purchased the bike after watching many of your videos a few years back. The gas tank was in perfect condition. Sadly I never put an effort into that amazing bike and sold it. Watching these videos again makes me wish I would have put even the slightest effort into trying to get it running. It was a stupid clean and fully assembled bike. Just needed the love to get it going. I am strongly regretting getting rid of it. 😭😭😭

Back in the mid 70s I had a K2 750 full Dunstall kit, bored to 920, lumpy cam, went like a rocket in a straight line but very heavy in the corners. Not as scary as hitting corners on my Mach IV or Mach III Kawasaki though, 😂😂😂. Thanks for posting 👏👏👏 👋👋👋 🇦🇺

I had a ‘69 CB750 about 50 years ago and worked on it quite a bit. I noticed that when you were testing the coils you said, correctly, that one coil sparks cylinders 1,4, the other sparks 2,3. Points are on the crankshaft, not camshaft, so each cylinder sparks at every revolution, with a waste spark at the end of the exhaust stroke. Each pair of plugs is in series with one coil, neither end of the coil is grounded. This means that when testing for spark on, say, cyl #1 plug lead, you should have cyl #4 lead connected to its spark plug, screwed in or otherwise grounded. You should see sparks on both plugs at the same time. Watching for a spark with the opposite lead disconnected doesn’t make sense. Maybe you’ll see a spark, but you shouldn’t expect to. IanB

That's why we love the vintage Hondas....they wanna run, no matter how long they've been sitting. I didn't see any funky smoke coming out of the exhaust at all. What year is it? Looked like it had brass floats...or were they plastic floats covered in yellowish gas varnish dust?.

Heh. As soon as you looked into the oil tank and decided to add oil, I knew it could be messy. My high-mileage K5 also wet-sumps and empties the oil tank after a few months of idleness.

I'll predict that, of course it will run, it's a Honda! Let's see if I'm correct.

Don't think this have just been pulled in from a scrap situation as the video suggests, the Front disk brake is far too clean for that, no corrosion at all.

Your videos inspired me to get my 82 cb900 back on the road. It had been sitting for about eight years but started fairly easily. When it was stored the carbs and tank were drained dry, therefore no real rebuild of the fuel system was necessary. The front brake caliper needs rebuilding. What is a good source of honda parts?

Should have added wash your mouth out with soap but problably better to use it to wash the bike, the soap that is.

If you know, this about the points and boots, Dont you think the first place to go ,Would be the clean the Points no matter what. then check spark again. Thats always been, the way, I know everyone does it, for a bike thats been sitting, thats the first place I checked , Even on cars with Points.

I had 2 different CB-750's Second one turned out to be a Chopper, had problems with the carbs getting loose and falling off!

750 Hodads made some angry choppers back in the day.

Damn yo! Solid find - I'm working on an F0 right now that needed a new battery, oil change, fuel tank clean, full carb rebuild, starter clutch rebuild, and a whole bunch of other shit, but it's coming together. I don't see any smoke coming out of the exhaust which is amazing! I'm getting white smoke constantly out of the pipes which leads me to think it needs new rings, maybe more... Question for you - what's the secret to getting the carbs on and off easily? I bought new boots and clips because the old ones were shot, and still had a hell of a time putting the carbs back on after I rebuilt them.

Wish you were closer I've got a cb750 with a turbo I had gifted to me. Needs ran thru just like that bike!

Good video. Do you normally try and start an engine to hear how it sounds before getting into a leak down or compression test? Have you found that leak down tests can give misleading results to an engines condition?

That must be a pretty early version of the CB750 with the carb linkage and bales holding on the bowls. What year/model is it? K0 or a K1?

Awesome to see this classic start up. Have you considered budgeting for an exhaust extraction system? Nederman is the standard in the fire service in the US, though several companies make them. I’m pretty sure they offer a single exhaust system for small shops though you might need to fabricate adapters for motorcycle / dual exhausts. Breathing in byproducts of combustion is not a great thing for your long term health.

Rebuilding my first cb750C with my nephew as a project to get him to college next week. I build 2 and 4 stroke PWC motors but have never been through a motorcycle. The shop manual shows that it is quite similar except for small things that make sense. One question for you on this one...what is the stock compression supposed to be for the 750? He bought new pistons etc but I want to make sure we are not re-inventing the wheel tomorrow (8/17/2022) unnecessarily if compression is good already. It has sat around like the one in this video for ???? period of time. Thanks in advance!

Should hear one as a Cobra Stage III engine. Built mine in 91 and she now has 418,000 miles on her after 3 from the ground up rebuilds. It's a crazy bike with 130hp at the rear wheel sitting in Tracy Designs body work. I've had her since 77 after the first owner was killed after just 966 miles. She is a 75 CB 750F with a 915cc+ engine. I call it a TD 1020.

2:20 Is that oil or just water seeping out of the gaiter and down the fork? With how clean it is I'd say it's just water, but you never know.
