Bought a gen 1 97 model just over a year ago, one of the nicest, most comfortable and fast bikes I've ridden, quality is outstanding!

I bought a '02 XX back then, had it for two years and sold it ... I regretted it deeply, but by chance I had the opportunity to buy it back so I did, it's been with me since then, great bike, best one I owned so far, not letting her go anymore.

My 01 red bird has only 50000kms on... Still love it... Parked in my lounge room.. 😊

Just scored a really clean 1998 XX with 29k miles for the crazy low price of $1,300USD from a co-worker in Utah. Amazing bike... I'm still riding it like I stole it.... because for that price I kind of did. Rode a Vmax for about 13 years (a while back), good to be back into a capable bike again. It made the 2013 GW250 Suzuki I've been motoring around feel like a scooter.

I currently have a Blackbird and a vmax. Had a vtx1300 as well. Sold the vtx, now I can't decide which to sell so I still have them both. Probably selling the Blackbird only because I tend to go too fast through the open Idaho dessert. $1300 is a steal. I've been offered $3300 for mine

My '97 has been rejetted plus a full exhaust. 32 mpg. Get the rpm's up add full throttle it's shocking! Scary! It's a damn rocket! Way beyond my ability!

My 2003 made it to 163k miles. Cam chain just broke. Superb. Best motorcycle. Needs a refresh. Best sport bike on the sport side of sport touring. Hard to replace...

I HAVE A 2005 XX3 MODEL.AND CAN TELL YOU IT IS A MUCH BETTER MACHINE THAN THE HAYABUSA THAT I OWNED.

Bought very first 96 model with VIN code ending 00135 about 10 years ago. It is masterpiece of human engineering. Sporty, reliable and very comfortable. 58000km, great condition, only carbs require more maintenance otherwise it just runs.

Great review considering getting one of these sold my 2009 CBR 1000 RR Recently as I am getting older and these bikes I have heard are super comfortable to ride with the Honda reliability that I have gotten used too over the years.

I had a '99 with over 110k miles and it was as smooth as ever. I rode it for maybe 5 years and I regret selling it.

Love my 2003. All round excellent machines.

This review was very helpful as I can get one in mint condition for a really good price.

Carb model is imo the one to go for especially in very hot countries

Hi, just to clarify a common misunderstanding. From 2001 to 2007 Honda changes the correction factor for hp measuring, one is SAE 164 and the other is ECE, Euro. All of them, even the carburated ones brings around the same rear wheel hp numbers, around 135-140 rwhp (in stock form with no mods) .

Along the way there was also the introduction of a catalytic converter into the exhaust, which had an impact on power figures.

I have a very early carburettor Blackbird and everytime I ride it, it puts a smile on my face. The engineering is very impressive. Everything from the chassis to the engine is well thought out. The engine is ultra smooth. I can be in 6th gear at 25mph and even a slight twist of the throttle, the motorcycle is easily doing high speeds. Even at 100mph, it is bliss and the mirrors don't even vibrate. When Honda designed this motorcycle, they got it right. My only niggle is the poor fuel economy I am getting around town. Town riding I am only getting 28mpg. Is that normal?

In LA i was getting 24mpg on my 2003. I was ripping it up constantly though, on the highway just cruising at 70-100mph i get around 37 mpg. So around town i would say 28 is normal.

I am now using my one for motorway trips and just brimmed it with fuel as I have taken a new job further afield. I will see what mpg it now gets. I am thinking about getting a CBR300R but I just love the brutal power of the Blackbird too much but don't like the fuel bills. LOL. Also, I do love opening the throttle all the time which doesn't help either. LOL.

Thanks truly Hagbard for all your help so you do love the Single RS3 Yoshimura BEST of all and NOT stock OEM exhausts. My XX liked all CBR XX 1100 has the 6-speed gearbox on it so it is a Blackbird. It has two counter balancers as well. Recently I saw a Japan Web site for JDM Blackbirds and they also specifically mention SC42E as JDM Blackbird Engine No.

Carb or fuel injection? Who wins? Just wanna know , I want this bike but can not decide between the two lol help me out guys 🙏

Great video. I just bought myself a 2001 xx CBR super blackbird which I’m told is a Japan domestic model so is Restricted. My question is what would the BHP on mine be? Some say 140 bhp others say a ridiculous unbelievably low 110 bhp? Do guide and tell me the facts of what BHP my Japan restrictedXX actually is? Bless you Cyrus

Hello Hagbard very kind of you. My 2001 has Ebgine No SC42E1050328 and VIN SC351000328. I believe ONLY Japan Domestic XX has “SC42E” Engine Number Code. Does your Japan XX also gave SC42E Engine Number? Because in Europe or America all XX have SC35 Code both for VIN and Engine. I wanted to fit stock 4x2 dual OEM exhausts on my XX. Presently it has a Single 4x1 Yoshimura. I Request you to please email me your reply in cyrusrolls@gmail.com God bless u Cyrus

I mean will the 2001 Exhausts with Cat converter be good for my XX or the late 1999 FI unrestricted dual exhausts without catalytic converter be BEST for my 2001?
