Honda B18 Engine Tear Down | Extremely Satisfying
BE WARNED; This video is filmed and edited in a way that it is extremely satisfying for the viewer. Today I COMPLETELY disassemble my Honda B-Series (B18B1) motor to get it ready for some stronger internals. It was a super fun and rewarding learning experience that I was lucky to share with my girlfriend. Also, I swear this video is not ASMR.

Ima be real, I don’t be supporting much content I see, but this was well made. All the camera angles, the edits and transitions, showing and hearing each bolt and getting rid of the unnecessary. Earned a sub forsure 👍
I have built countless B18s & B20s and I love this video a lot. It brings back such beautiful memories. It also reminds me of all the little spots I've bashed my hands against these motors. 😂 When he said "no way" when he cracked the crankshaft pulley bolt first try...I felt that on a spiritual level. Keep up the fantastic work!

do you have a instagram or anything to reach out on? if you could give me some advice on a oil leak that may be seeping through the pistons
This popped in my recommended and I’m glad it did. Alway cool to watch engine tear downs.

Same thing happened to haha
I did the same thing. started writing down every part needed for my build. pieced together all the little bits of info from forums. again another sweet video, hyped that you seem to be ramping up the build and going with the "do it nice or do it twice" mentality, you'll thank yourself later

Make sure when removing or installing head you follow the recommended sequence. On my GM ecotec motor I’m taking apart there is a different removal and installation sequence. Great video and amazing GF for helping you!

BULLI KID For Honda engines it’s just a backwards sequence from torquing down. Shouldn’t matter much here since he’s getting everything machined and will use ARP head studs for the rebuild.
@clemsondriver9214
4 жыл бұрын
@@SlowDelSol If what is shown on the video is exactly how he did it (since the removal was edited with a lot of video cuts at that part) he wasn't doing that either though. Torque down sequence is center then alternating left center and right center moving outwards till you reach the ends. So removal is to start at the far end, alternate to the other far end and alternating until you reach the center. And it would matter if he plans on reusing those camshafts. Because the reason you remove cam cap bolts in the correct order is so that you don't potentially warp or bend the cams.
@MarcusPin
4 жыл бұрын
@@clemsondriver9214 technically for removing the cams as long as you move from the center outward you will be fine, but for removing the head its kinda the same? not too sure as ive the whole "fuckin send it" approach to be the same results as "carefully remove according to Honda specs"
@MTMTULCEApefir
Жыл бұрын
The idea of removing the head bolts in the right way is not to warp your head, by the tension is in it.
Enjoyed! A true car enthusiast should tear down and rebuild an engine at least once in life, it's an immensely satisfying experience.

Probably one of the best tear down videos out👌🏻💯

I always love it when using a hammer and ‘punch’ the show change from it is in place bottoms out that solid sound or from the solid sound to it is about to fall lol. That’s awesome. Not many car guys can say there been that deep in to a motor and fewer get it running again. Thank you for taking us along great video

6 min in you finally got further in than I ever did on my B17 Integra motor. She was getting a little tired of the boost when I sold her but still running fine. Brings back memories. Looks so much easier on an engine stand instead of a cramped enginebay.

Classic Chicago rusty bolts. Nice teardown. Will follow the build 👍
This video helped me solve how to get the crankshaft off and pistons out, which because of the engine condition, took an hour with one of the best hammers you can buy and just beating the shit out of it. Thank you
I hope you’re saving for a breaker bar👌🏽 because I did the same thing you were doing. Taking a long pipe from a jack and put that on the wrench to make it a breaker bar and my wrench broke😭
Enjoyed the video. Quick tip when using those blue towels they can leave behind lint so make sure you thoroughly clean before assembly

do the crankshaft main cap bolts (right before the block meets the oil pan), do they have to go back to it's original hole it came out of? i got a b18c1 that was torn down to send into for CSS and a buddy recommended a rebuild if the bolts weren't labeled to go back to where they belong.

Get your self a whole lot of nut sand rubber bands ,when I take a part off I put the bolt in the correct hole and put a painted nut on so it is not lost. Rubber band around the bolts also work.
I’m about to tackle this job to drop a b18b1 in a 91 EF hatch. I don’t know the history on the engine I picked up so I want to rebuild it for hobby purposes. Got a parts list? The rebuild kits I’m finding don’t have stellar reviews. I’m not trying to do anything crazy, just pep up an old car and give it some more zip.
how meny cost new engine?
