Honda B100 carburetor replacement and engine startup! It runs!

Removing the old carb and installing a new one...this solves the no-idle issue as reported by the previous owner, and it runs great after the new carb is installed!

    Thanks for the Honda BF100 tutorials. You are the only one who has such nicely done tutorials on this motor, I just subscribed! Just one thing I wanted to call out is that I think your air intake on your carburetor is upside down, the vented screen should be facing downward according to the shop service manual. Thanks again and please keep the BF100 videos coming!

    Thanks Hot Tamale! I'll double check the intake...I don't think it can be flipped over as I'm pretty sure it only mounts one way, but thanks for point out, I'll look at it.

    Carburetor intake screen is upside down the way you have it installed. They are always facing down in all my engines.. It can be installed either way and that tell that somebody else had the carburetor off before you. If water were to ever get under the hood and splash, with the intake facing up, it will work as a water scoop and possibly hydrolock destroy the engine. It is supposed to face down so if water is splashed on it barely any will get into the engine. Thank you for your detailed video.

    Great series of vids! I own the 7.5 which looks mechanically the same as yours, and so far I keep taking it to the mechanic when something needs doing to it, but having watched these I feel inspired to have a go at it myself. It runs fine most of the time, but after it's been running for maybe an hour it slows down and dies. Seems like fuel starvation - squeeze the primer, pull the string and it's good to go again. Maybe a failing fuel pump, maybe a sticking float needle in the carb - time to man up and have a look at it myself I think! Keep up the good work sir...

    I believe I ordered the same carb for mine. And yes looks like one of the fuel filter attachments is facing the wrong way, glad to know I can rotate the bowl to fix this. I have been searching forever to find a new carb. They are extremely hard to come by here in Canada.

    I have the same motor, would you mind sharing a closeup of the shifter mech near the carb. Mine is running into the throttle cable and is steering to fray the strands. It’s hard to see the way yours is mounted.

    Hi There, I was looking to order a new Carb today when I checked you channel as I was going to message you and ask where you get parts from. New Carb on the way already thanks! Quick question for you if you don't mind.. Where did you find a manual for the engine? Mine is identical to yours, 1980 (I believe) but I am struggling to find any info about it. I gather it is the same as a BF? Many thanks, Tristan

    I haven't had reason to, so haven't done it. It doesn't look too difficult once the lower unit is off...4 bolts...maybe 5...and it should come off the lower part of the case.

    Does it make sense to change an entire carburetor for the sake of a gasket worth less than a dollar? Any carburetor needs maintenance by cleaning it easily. Also, placing the filter upside down...😮

  • @WiscoBoater

    @WiscoBoater

    7 ай бұрын

    Whether or not it makes sense is irrelevant. I replaced the carb because I wanted to. There are thousands of videos on cleaning a carb and how easy it is to do. The video was about replacing one. And yes, the screen is upside-down, covered by many comments already. I sold this engine several years ago, but thanks for watching anyway. 😎
