OKAY BUT LISTEN When a fusion becomes unstable, it ceases to exist, like how when Garnet unfused because of Ruby and Sapphire disagreeing, or when she almost unfused because she saw the forced fusions. What if, when Steven's shape doesn't change to a larger size or something more "offensive", those "bursts" are his body and gem trying to unfuse, causing these weird distortions on his body because the gem can't simply rip itself apart from his body? I mean, at the end of CYM he fused with himself, so in one way or another, he IS a fusion.

literally rose says in the video that when hes happy that is her loving him and loving being him. he lost that love for himself from all the trauma hes been through. i'm sure the rejuvenation really caused damage to that harmony. i doubt it is corruption, but hes no longer let these thoughts be just thoughts and let them go like garnet taught Steven and Connie. Steven is the fusion between rose and Greg . there's is so much going on inside him that conflicts with how rose felt about Steven its causing all sorts of issues.

I think that could be what's going on! Adding onto that theory, I think Steven might have warped somewhere else and somehow had a talk with his gem half without actually removing his gem and Steven gets convinced by Pink Steven that he can't be fixed and their fusion becomes harmonious again but because Steven relinquishes control to Pink Steven and turns into the kaiju.

I think she was so concerned for Steven, that she couldn't do anything but helplessly watch him go to Homeworld. In a way... she felt GUILTY for accidentally causing the training with Steven go way too far! Sure it was a good idea for Steven to let out his frustration over everything that's happened, but she realized that it was for the wrong reason! seeing steven look so mentally destroyed from shattering her gave her remorse.

Theory: Steven is becoming what Pink Diamond would have become if she never became 'Rose Quartz'. Pink would have lost herself to her darker side, and would have tried to shatter her fellow Diamonds for how they mistreated her. But instead, she left her home and became a better person over the years. Greg also left home and became a better person over the years as well. But Steven, who started out as a good person, is giving into his dark side and taking out all of his anger and frustrations on those who are trying to help him. Pink didn't want to look back on the past, only the future. But Steven keeps looking back on the past and is not moving towards the future. Learning from the past and moving on from it seems to be the main message in this series.

A couple things you missed! The diamonds still treat him like he’s a kid (like pink diamond), and none of them really listened to what he was saying. (As people have pointed out, he wasn’t clear on what he wanted them to help with) They did what they knew, assuming it was what’s best. Yellow kept changing his form as he was getting frustrated with her, Blue kept pushing the clouds onto him even though he responded to them with disgust. White praised his abilities as he was saying how scared he was of them. When Steven was talking to white, she poked his chest, to which he responded by nervously pushing her finger away. Definitely a bit of ptsd from his gem being ripped out. As Steven ran away from spinel in the hallway, he was standing on the pink diamond of the diamond insignia. Another shot showed him stepping on the pink diamond as his form grew again. A small detail, but very telling! Hope you see this, can’t wait for the next breakdown!! ^^

White Diamond -> Mental Health Blue Diamomd -> Emotional Health Yellow Diamond -> Physical Health Pink Diamond/Steven -> Spiritual Health I feel that these connections were exacerbated through the Diamonds' new abilities. Yellow Diamond can disrupt and repair a gem's physical form. Blue Diamond can repress and enhance one's emotions. Meanwhile, White Diamond can channel and deflect someone's inner thoughts. And Steven... All of his powers are related to change- the thing his mother though she was incapable of doing, and what brought back his powers in the movie. I find that Steven and the Pink Diamond gem best represent spiritual health for this reason. Spirituality isn't just about religion; it places heavy emphasis on finding your place and sense of identity in the world. It also focuses on connectivity with others, optimism for the future, and contributions to society. Perhaps Steven's pink aura in Reunited is reminscent of this theme, as he used it to show Blue and Yellow that he was CONNECTED/RELATED to them. Now, Steven has lost his sense of purpose. His powers are flaring in a negative manner because of his spiritual state of mind, which in turn affects all of the other areas of his health. As his health is declining, his powers are becoming more destructive, just like how Blue Diamond made those around her cry, how Yellow Diamond destabilized gems, and how White Diamond controlled others' minds. It's also why I believe that the Diamonds would never understand Steven, as much as he wants them to. His trauma is completely different than theirs. I had these same thoughts as watching! I also felt as if Spinel acted as the all too common mistake when trying to get someone's help. Her lack of knowledge of Steven's problems mixed with Steven's lack of clarity or attempt to specify caused her to try and offer Steven these forms of help with poor results. We see clearly in the episode Steven has some sort of trigger from the Diamonds, but this mirrors when people going into forms of therapy trying to tackle these forms of health and they aren't wholly prepared aware of what they need to tackle. We see Steven proceed to (presumably) isolate himself as he feels as if he's broken and irreparable. I feel as if it's inescapable that the internalized/externalized destruction and anger as you mentioned that manifested in Steven will once again manifest itself as the kaiju form. His lack of awareness of himself and his issues is restricting him to his constant fight or flight response. And if his destruction, lack of self-awareness, and fight or flight response were taken to the extreme there is really no other description more fitting of an angry kaiju.

So Steven is guilty of Trespassing Vandalism "Gemslaughter" Attempted murder Treason (Note that I haven't seen all the episodes so I may have missed a few)

There was no 'low key' for me. When he said "She should be the one afraid", there was pure, genuine terror. I don't like being scared of Steven. When he said "I have been holding back" in Fragments was the first time it happened, and this one was worse. This show got super stressful VERY quickly, and I miss our playful, happy boy. Okay changing ones appearance is a bad thing, sometimes its good to change things up. As far as Blue there is nothing wrong with wanting to fill happy, maybe her way is less natural but it was well intended. But I will say this her happy clouds are only a tempary solution once the person isn't with Blue. There is nothing to stop them from reverting back to before. As far as White she literally let the person voice their voice thier thought and problems letting them reflect on this. It lets them vent this is healthy. Release is healthy. To be honest the only one I can consider unhealthy is Blue's power. And even that is subjective. The use of stuff to make you happy itself isn't a bad thing. Reliance on it is.

Just some details I noticed: the diamonds shouting for steven at the end parallels garnet at the beginning. Also, when spinel takes over white diamond, her eyes match spinels with circular pupils, but when steven is in control, her eyes are diamonds.

She turns pink and gets diamond eyes because it's Stevens gem half that controls her, his human half has zero control over her, so she mirrored what his gem half looks like (at least when euther separated or his gem half takes control)

So, Steven's human half was trying to shatter White, and in shattering her, his connection to his gem. I think Steven is slowly becoming more unravelled as time goes on. His Human half is behaving like his Gem half and vice versa from CYM. Steven himself is going through a crisis that no one else, and everyone else, has gone through. He may be the first Human/Gem fusion, but he's at a point in time for humans to start going through an identity crisis. Where everything makes no sense, you don't understand who or what you stand for, and everything just brings out the worst in you. Idk, I'm just spitballing ideas to the wall.

The Diamonds have all now officially been redeemed, but I will say, Yellow's power to completely fix a gem, even if they are missing a fragment is awesome. Also, her mentioning doing it to the cluster in earth... I don't actually want that, just because I personally love that all the fragments are getting along. Plus, the cluster is super powerful, since it overpowered a diamond ship

When Steven lost his control over White, I heard the sound effect which is used for Enid (from Ok K.O.) when she turns into a log.

Five bucks says that all of Steven‘s friends are going to start singing parts of Steven’s song when he’s doing really bad, about how he helped them with his songs just like how he helped Spinel with change or Peridot with peace and love on the planet earth, Pearl with strong in the real way, and so much more

I think he went to the Diamonds expecting that they would know what his new powers were. He assumes that his new powers are because of some untapped Diamond part of him, and that if he confronts that he's a Diamond it'll explain why they're so dangerous. He saw the Diamonds as having evil powers, since that's mostly what they used against him in the past, so he thinks that Diamond = bad. He expected them to know what his evil powers were and tell him how to control them. So when he got to Homeworld, he was surprised by how they not only also had new powers they didn't know about, but that their new powers were good. What I think both frustrated and scared him the most was the realization that, no, being a Diamond isn't inherently bad, and it isn't the only cause of his new dangerous powers. What's actually happening is that all of the Diamonds' powers are influenced by emotion. They all gained a new power because they were happier than ever before, and had discovered a new, better part of themselves. That means that Steven's power isn't caused by his gem, it's caused by his feelings. Confronting that his powers are being caused by his own thoughts, depression, anxiety, and anger, probably made him panic and literally run away from having to make that realization.

Personally I think steven is warping home. And that's where we see that scene where everyone (Connie, greg, and the gems) is shocked to see that he's slowly turning into his mother. And he runs up stairs which then becomes the scene where he says "I don't hurt people, I help people"

OH. MY. GOD. SPINEL GOT EVEN MORE PRECIOUS! IT'S AMAZING! SHE'S AMAZING! It's so weird just seeing her in a normal episode, it's uncommon for movie characters. But it's very welcome!

I watched quite a few reactions of the episode myself, and bunched together a small note myself. When steven gets bigger and pink/ white diamond grows smaller, from what i understand its his personalities separating. His diamond half inside white and his human half taking the controlling of pink/white diamond. Him forcing white to smash her own head in was just in his head, but the connection broke just as he was about to force her to do it. From what i can understand, white isnt forcibly controlled; she can cut the connection anytime she feels is necessary. He feels like his gem has been holding him back from being completely human or having a normal life, and in that sense he just wanted to get rid of it. When he has his flashback to white taking his gem out, yes he did experience the fear and want revenge, but he also realized that if he didnt have a gem; especially it being a diamond, he would have had a better life. And he says "this is for everything that youve put me through!" and yes, like i said before revenge on white would play a big part, but he might also be referring to how having his gem, being known as rose quartz, being attacked and almost killed multiple times, or being known as pink diamond and having to endure identitiy issues through both of these makes him want to shatter his own gem. who knows.. this is just my interpretation of it please dont attack me for what i think might be happening

What if Worny boi is actually how Steven sees his mother, a monster, and him calling his new powers "Diamond powers" and Jas calling him "my Diamond" could also be making Steven think he's becoming like his mother, a monster. Maybe he needs to rethink how he thinks of his mother in the end.

But pink isnt a monster....she just made a lot of bad decisions in her life. Steven is the real monster here shattering japer and trying to do so with white. Steven is causing himself to be greatly affected by his and his mother's past trauma and didnt even try to let anyone help him through it, instead he complained and cut off everyone that didnt do what HE wanted. The Gems tried so hard to reach out to him begging him to talk to them about whats bothering him instead he pushed them away. Greg tried to be there for his son and help him out but all steven did was complain about him not having normal life like going to school like normal kids, or having curfew (which in fact couldve made things worse if greg was that kind of overprotective parent to criticize everything steven did and didnt let him be who he wanted to be) and almost killed greg in a car accident even the diamonds tried to help him yet it wasnt what he wanted them to do so He went off on them. He needs to learn to forgive and let go and LET PEOPLE HELP HIM.

A small theory i just thought of: Yellow makes steven big, PInk diamond type big, but it makes him feel mroe as a siamond and he starts to corrupt because of how much he hates this aspect of himself, swelling up and becomming huge wormy boi Steven, white tries to channel his thoughts to see is she can see a way to help him, but Steven ends up taking full control of white (Explaining the slightly diffrent color palette) Idk, thats just my idea :p

Ya know what I do like this answer,because corruption was the way of what happened during the war, and we’ve seen when his mind and how he feels about himself represented into himself, say for when he turned older because he felt older and almost grew too old because he in his mind felt that way. Maybe that's why his hair gets more and more like Pink's. He is starting to think of himself as his mother, Pink Diamond.

I think Steven is either going to the garden or the his mom's room. All to trauma he faced at a young age plus his separation anxiety or "the need to be needed" is finally matching up to how Pink feel before she became Rose. He technically has three different personalities/lives inside him. Honestly I think his diamond can't handle all of the emotional changes either.

My dad watched this and, keep in mind he too has PTSD, said “someone tells Steven that shit happens.” I guess that means Steven needs to talk with others and himself to resolve this instead of shutting everyone out.

I think Spinel knew what the Rejuvenator(?) would do to Steven's gem or at least part of what could happen. What if Steven's gem is trying to turn him back into Pink because of being rejuvenated? We know that Steven can't stay shape shifted for a long time so what if his puffing up is his gem trying to force him to turn into Pink? Especially with the hair, size, and eyes?

Seeing this episode made me think of something that never clicked until now. Steven’s feelings towards the diamonds are worse than ever, but he still has to face the one diamond that, to him right now, is the cause of all of his pain and misery: Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz. He becomes so infuriated with her and sick of having her gem that he actually removes it and tries to shatter it. When this happens, Pink Steven will reform but start corrupting when he sees his other half trying to kill him. All of the negative emotions he kept bottled up will cause him to snap and turn into the giant wormy boi from the opening. I am also a fan of the corrupted Steven theory, but it just occurred to me that the Steven that gets corrupted is not the human, but the gem itself Edit: Wow, I don’t think any comment of mine has ever gotten this many likes. Good theory, but I’m pretty sure Steven would have to be at the point of suicide by the time that happens because he knows that separating too long from his other half would kill him. Shattering the gem would definitely destroy him with no power source to maintain his physical form. Also I don’t think that’s how corruption works

Koala Krys A valid point but considering Steven let his anger get the better of him and attempted to shatter White, I think it’s safe to say Steven’s mentality is nearing that point since he feels that no one can help him and those who try are just dismissed. Also remember when Steven went to the doctor that his body is reacting to a gem equivalent of cortisol. We have never actually seen a regular gem react to the kind of stress Steven has except for Spinel who was so distraught her form changed and that was from sorrow alone. We still don’t know a gem’s reaction to extreme stress so who can say for sure?

My Theory: There is no corruption involved. Everything that is going on and will continue to happen is just a manifestation of the same powers we saw way back in So Many Birthdays (Steven feels old, so he is old) and in Steven Floats. Steven feels weighed down and overwhelmed? His powers weigh him down. He feels confused and lost and not sure who he is? His form fluctuates and shifts and grows and changes. In Fragments, Steven felt like a Quartz soldier training with Jasper? He starts to look like one, imitating their size and musculature. In this episode, he felt like a Diamond? He starts to look like Pink Diamond. I don't think he is going to be corrupted. I think something at the beginning of I Am My Monster or end of Everything's Fine (that scene with the grass Steven's perhaps?) is the final straw in Steven feeling like he is a monster. And if Steven feels like a monster... his powers finally have something defined to latch on to and he becomes the monster from the intro. The solution isn't Diamond essence or Rose's Fountain... it's the gems, Connie, his dad, making him feel like Steven again. He has talked his way out of every conflict on this show... isn't it fitting if the last conflict is resolved by them talking to him? Of course, they can't tell Steven who he is though, only he can do that. Which is what leads to him leaving at the end to go find himself. Just some thoughts ✌

BritBri77 it makes more sense corruption i saw mote like a virus cause by the diamonds and jasper only got corrupted like an STD kinda so it make little sense for Steven yo be corrupted but him feeling like a monster word fit maybe more especially remembering cat fingers

i think that since he felt old and became old, like you said. That in the episode "I Am My Monster" Steven feels like a Monster so his power turns him into a monster just like how he turned old. (just my theory)

Remember how ``The diamonds reversed their powers?`` No wonder steven is struggling to focus his knew Diamond-like powers. It seemed that his ``Pink Diamond's powers`` reversed. ``Peace`` to ``War?``

After this episode I just have even more reasons for spinel being my fav gem😂 I absolutely love the adorable goofball

I believe that steven universe losing his shoe also represents steven having a cinderalla complex. He is afraid of becoming independent and unconciously was to be taken care of by others per definition.

If Steven/Pink can only heal a shattered, corrupted, and broken gemstone while Yellow heals a physical form of a gem which is based on a look, why can't just Steven go to Yellow rather than Shell to fix Pink Pearl's left eye.

Because her SHAPE/SIZE is not the problem, but rather the "aspect" (yes, double meaning) of the "damage" is inside her mind. -> Voleyball needed a concerted "treatment" involving Blue & White powers; while she talks to "Pink Steven" (after "extracting" him from human Steven, who should be put inmediatly on intensive care). The only one unnecesary here is precisely Yellow.

He didn't know she could or was doing that and didn't want to see her anyways plus what she needs is blue white and pink her issue was a mental scar probably made by a physical scar that stuck physically. That was why shell couldn't help. So she'd need to see white and blue and talk to either Pink or Steven or steven's gem half manifesting Pink about everything that happened. As oposed to her physical form the corruption scars are physical. Breaks in a gem are physical. Yellow and Pink healed mostly the physical aspects of beings. White and Blue are healing and working on the mental aspects. Though the reason they aren't directly helping is that blue's power forces hapiness which is nice when a gem just feels down but won't fix the underlying issue. It's like ignoring a problem to take a relaxing bubble bath. Which if it's a temporary stress that's easy to deal with works wonders. But not for something more permanent like Steven's trauma and Pink Pearl. And white gives them someone agreeable to listen to them and vent to or get their thoughts out and hear them and feel heard etc. Since she can share their worries but again like with Steven it doesn't fix and remove his worries and issues.

In Steven's defense though, these people did try and kill him first... I dont want him acting like this AT ALL. But let's be honest. Jasper almost killed him, Spinel almost killed him, the Diamonds almost killed. Like he was on the brink of death by these people....

His emotions are understandable and valid. Steven went through a lot a trauma, and recovery is not an easy thing at all, but I do want him to get better, because he is beginning to lose himself.

Didn't say Steven was in the right. Again, it's more that it's hard to feel for those that hurt Steven. Two wrong don't make a right, but it's not surprising that Steven's lashing out. Frankly it should have happened a long time ago.
