Thank you for the information ma'am. I just started homeschooling my 4 year last week. She's an only child. I'm here because yes at some point I thought maybe I should take her back to public school (crèche) again as I was seeing most KZread videos of families homeschooling more than 1 child. I'm encouraged... Love from South Africa 🇿🇦

Same story as me, my two oldest went to public school. They are now adults living on there own. My youngest is ten, and this is our 3rd year. I wish i homeschooled all of them. I love it 💕

Thank you for this video. My husband and I have not been able to have children together we have my soon to be 5th grader and I want to homeschool. I wasn’t sure if I should or not but I’m encouraged at the possibility. My daughter is a social butterfly so I am nervous about it but I feel the need to homeschool in this day and age.

My tribe! 😍I cherish how we are such a "tight trio" after so many years of homeschooling. We genuinely enjoy one another's company. Yet, I also agree with the importance of building in breaks and encouraging independent play. Balance is key.

Thank you for sharing. I'm homeschooling just my son (age 15), and I love learning alongside him. We used to get together with others quite a bit, but even that can become too much to keep up with, so I'm trying to find a healthy balance. BTW, I can relate to you regarding being an introvert. I'm currently reading a book called Introverted Mom by Jamie C. Martin...so far it's really good 😊.

HI. i have a 13 year old boy with adhd (ADD). I home-ed him on his own mainly. Even with just us, he dreams a lot. It is SO frustrating. It alll takes so long....I see schedules for younger kids and we can't get it all done. He can spend 25 mins on one day of fix-it....easily. we get through SO little that I always feel behind and panicked. I have to pull him back from somewhere in his head so often. Sometimes it's only once I raise my voice that he 'wakes up'. When he IS 'with' me we love learning together and he is actually very bright. He is creative and can solve difficult problems....but is mostly away with the fairies and often doesn't know what's going on. I can't let him watch any video lessons for eg as he won't 'remember' what was said in the session. Do you have advice, please? Even read-alouds can be frustrating. Help, please?

You are not alone. I completely understand your situation. Have you tried setting a timer? I have to do that with the other child I work with a few days a week. He goal is to finish before the timer goes off. Some days it helps. As far as listening to a read aloud, we usually stop after 2 paragraphs and recall what was read. If I go straight through, my son has no idea about what happened. My suggestion is to keep everything short, 10-15 minutes at a time. If I notice my son daydreaming, I encourage him to get up and walk around for a minute. That sometimes helps to get him back on track.

@@HomeSweetHomeschoolLife thank you. it’s so great to know it’s not just us. I watch KZread and it’s like people are sitting for an hour doing a basket and then getting whole pages of maths done. My son hates timers. He gets too stressed. It’s good to know you can also just read a bit at a time. I really love working and learning when it goes well. I just dream 😴 f it being a bit smoother and quicker I guess. I have started LMaths Fast. I think it was you who said it worked well. It does feel as though we are getting somewhere now. I also started rights start level h. He really loves it. It has geometry, trigonometry etc but all hands on. Thank you again. I will keep watching and hopefully it will help me with my patience. Thank you so much. X
