    I’ve synced my HomePod Mini that’s in my kitchen with my AppleTV, so I can go get a drink from the fridge and not miss any dialogue (I can’t hit pause while watching with others remotely). That way I can keep hearing the show while I do what I need to do.

    My wife and I were upstairs and all of a sudden we heard an announcement come across the HomePod from my 4 year old downstairs saying “Hey Dad!”. Neither one of us specially taught him how to do it, and he just picked it up on his own. Thought that was pretty cool.

    One of the most comprehensive HomeKit videos I’ve seen so far in all my browsing. We seriously need more people to see your uploads bro! But then again, it’s up to Apple to step up their Home products capabilities. It’s frustrating because the potential is huge but the progress is slow. More people need to know about this, but people aren’t going to look for it unless Apple creates more HomeKit products and services. Chicken or the egg? 🐓 vs 🥚! Anyways, I’m a subscriber, so keep giving us good content bro. 👍🏾

Now I can play music and actually hear the lyrics without blasting my neighbors’ (don’t wanna be that guy) or my own eardrums. Before the recent iOS/iPadOS 15 updates, my five HomePod mini’s were useless bass thumper pods that I was never able to use effectively… all bass 🔊 no lyrics 🔇

    Thanks! I don’t think iHeart radio has added support for this yet (hopefully they will). The 3rd party app needs to add support and there should be an option in that app when the do. For example, in the Pandora app, there is an option in the settings to “connect with HomePod.” Once this is done, you can change the default service in the Home app to Pandora.

    Unfortunately the best we can do with HomePods is combine them as a stereo pair, and use them for default audio through the Apple TV. You cannot use them as rear speakers or in any other true surround sound configuration.

    Thanks Marike! Not sure if it's possible directly, but you might be able to get creative. You can probably setup a personal automation in the Shortcuts app triggered by a focus mode. Then choose your HomePod as a Home Accessory to control and select 'change volume only'. Then turn the volume all the way down to 0. Not sure how that will do with intercom, etc. but might be worth a shot.

    No, not using Apple Watch. You’d have to use motion or door sensors right now. Ultimately, that’s something I hope to see one day…in the smart home of the future. The HomePods and the Apple Watches, among other apple devices, containing the U1 chip could lead one to suspect that, just MAYBE, we could get there one day.

    Sometimes I get that too. That just happens when the homepod is unsure who is speaking. When you have Personal Request and “recognize my voice” turned on, this happens sometimes as Siri tries to recognize the voice in order to execute personal request. I would just say, make sure she has Siri enabled on her phone and turn on “recognize my voice” in the home app settings. Also, on each homepod you can select a “primary user” that the HomePod will default to when it receives a request that it doesn’t recognize a voice for.

    You think is possible to connect 4 home pods and use them on apple tv as a home theater? If so how to connect them all 4?

  • @ShaneCreates

    @ShaneCreates

    You can connect multiple HomePods via AirPlay, but this will not be true surround sound as you would want for a home theater. And you cannot connect more than 2 HomePods as "default audio" to an Apple TV.

    I have a question I was hoping you can help me with that I’m not able to find anywhere else. I’m using all HomeKit automation so far and I have HomePods in every room but when I go to automate different scenes anytime there are multiple homepods in the scene i’m only able to select an all or nothing feature when it comes to the speakers. Sometimes I want to turn off all of the speakers except for two in my bedroom and perhaps even take it a step further and have them switch audio to a different playlist. Is there anyway to achieve this?

  • @ShaneCreates

    @ShaneCreates

    I don’t think there is a way to turn off some and turn on others. Have you looked at creating a personal automation or shortcut? That might be the only way to go for something like this.

    Hey @Shane I has some questions. I'm thinking to get 6 or 8 Homepod 2 for my workplace. If we have a few speakers in the office, and people control the volume of the speaker nearest them independently? Also, can you play different songs in different rooms and zones? Or, only the same song? And finally, can people play different songs with their own phone? For example, can I play Song A on Conference rooms speakers from my phone, while a colleague plays Song B on "Accounting team" speakers in her area? I'm having trouble finding good answers on the web, but thought you must know since you have so many rooms and zones! CHeers! love your wife's dark side of the moon Pizza shirt

    I recently switched from Echo to Home Pod - love the integration as we are all Apple devices however I REALLY miss the "drop in" feature where we could effectively call another homepod and have a back/forth conversation. I coudl call my daughters room and say good morning, ask her how she's feeling and if she's ready for breakfast, etc. Intercom is working but sometimes I have a question that needs an answer and I don't want to walk upstairs. I can't believe we can't "call another homepod". Drop-in seems a bit anti-privacy, sure, but at least call one where they can answer the call??

    Preach! I don’t need to be told that lights are on. I can understand having a verbal response if the command fails, but not every time she successfully runs a shortcut or home lighting change. Also - give us “whisper mode”, a la Amazon Echo, or at very least manual, granular control of Siri volume setting.
