We used to drive over to see the display every year. It was beautiful. What the neighbors and 20/20 conveniently chose to leave out of their 'story' was that he collected donations, not for himself, but for children's charities. There was a person dressed as Santa Claus stationed at the peak of the circle accepting donations, and people gladly gave for the children. He started putting the display together in August, dedicating four to five months to creating a spectacular holiday light show. It may have been an inconvenience to the neighbors for a few weeks, but because of their small mindedness and lack of thinking of anything else but themselves, they now have a year long display that reflects their callousness right back in their faces. To have all that goodwill ripped out from under you must have been devastating to Mr. Ansell. And 20/20 should be ashamed of themselves for their shoddy, half assed reporting.

I get what you're saying, but instead of choosing to be so childish he could've tried to a different approach so his neighbors wouldn't be so bothered. Now the fact that he has the signs and other displays is not that big of an issue.....it is an issue when he tries blinding his neighbors with those bright lights and makes loud noises in the middle of the night to try to disturb their sleep.

I live near Bill. My wife grew up one street away from Bill. Bill had the most fantastic Christmas displays, and people would drive by just to see it. He had a collection box and people would donate money to the charity that Bill gave all the money to every year for many years. that all changed when the neighbors started complaining about the traffic jams of cars that drove on their street to see Bill‘s beautiful Christmas displays. They brought in thousands of donated dollars to charity… this report is painting bill as being the bad guy. But the neighbors all ganged up on him to try to get him to stop the Christmas display. They got the law on him. what has happened since, can only be answered by the phrase, no good deed goes unpunished..

@johnlocke445 actually if the display was to bright and loud then he was violating his neighbors right to peace and quiet after a certain time. Also if traffic made it to difficult for is Neighbors to get into their home then that is another violation right there. Just because someone is claiming that he was doing this for a children's hospital charity event does not give him the right to inconvenience his neighbors with the extra traffic and noise.

Go back to the beginning- the fantastic Christmas displays... Bill is an Electrician... and prior to what you see in this video, was one of the most fantastic Christmas displays on the PLANET. Christmas light displays require technical talent and skill. The villan here, is the neighborhood: They didn't like all the cars driving through to see the display, so They attacked BILL. They didn't like the season's cheer... all the cars driving by during the Christmas season. They did everything they could to treat him really bad, and this is what happens when people decide to gang up on a neighbor.

Did anyone try apologizing to this man??? There is obvious deep animosity ... I am just surprised that this level of hatred has gone on for such a long time. No one wins in this situation ... Clueless. He's shining floodlights into their homes at night, he's putting up personalised threatening signs in his yard with the aim of frightening people, he's hammering at 3 am when people are sleeping to delberately wake them up. He's deliberately leaving obscene trash in his yard to lower house values in the neighborhood. If this was happening to you and your family you wouldn't be so blaise about it when it's been happening 24/7 for YEARS.

Jan Juan He had a family-the photo in the video. Also someone mentioned they researched it and he lost visitation of his kids because his wife(ex) found out he molested them. He’s just a horrible person. Most people who say ‘it’s not against the law,it’s my right.’ especially with the attitude he did are bad people,I know from plenty of experience of being around those people.

He was being rather disruptive himself. That "display" was an eyesore. The neighbors had a right to complain. I have a neighbor who year round has obnoxious displays "celebrating" just about everything. I thought it was funny at first, but started to get old. She was finally told she had to tone it down. It's still really bad, and I'm sure it's affecting housing prices. She doesn't care, because she's old and her place was long paid for.

@Ren Helene Thanks for posting that link, I read through it & it seems to me that this man kinda "went over the edge" following his divorce & loss of visitation with his daughters & estrangement from them for over 10 years. His exwife accused him of molesting the girls but seems he was never prosecuted or charged with a crime for that, possibly only used as leverage by his ex, otherwise why wasn't he charged. Sad story really, like a descent into madness.

His was just beautiful looks like he enjoyed having beautiful display of lights. I'm really sorry for him that he left that one neighbor ruin it for him and all the other neighbors. He should have sold up and bought a house on a main road which was more accessible and he could have kept up the tradition of the display. A small cul-de-sac was never a suitable location for this type of display. It’s not just the decorations though. He’s shining extremely bright lights into their homes at all hours of the night purposefully pointed at their windows, blaring loud noises in the middle of the night to wake them up, hanging derogatory signs on his home about them, yelling at them, and more. It’s gone way beyond just some less than jolly decorations. Could the other neighbors have handled the original situation better? Yes. But this kind of a response is insane. Being considerate of your neighbors is part of owning a home in a subdivision. If you don’t want to deal with being considerate of your neighbors, find a different home that doesn’t have any neighbors around you. This is a majorly over the top and absolutely mental reaction that no sane person would do. If he truly had a love for his display, he should have taken the initiative to move somewhere else and acted like an adult. Two wrongs never make a right, and his reaction is way out of proportion to what the original issue was.

If it's too bright. Buy some black out curtains. As for any noise from traffic, get used to it. Where I live, every Friday night during Football season the school is actually setting off cannons (the sound). And I'm no where near the school and their fireworks light up the sky so much it looks like lightning in the distance. Then come Saturday, the racetrack starts and if you're super quiet, you can hear the thrum of the engines while inside. If it's not on your property and you don't like it, too bad. And even so where I live, few days after Thanksgiving I urged my husband to get the Christmas lights out and on, cause our street was dark. The majority of the people who did put out their lights moved. Now that our bill situation is better, I have "plans" next year for Christmas lights.

I live right near this house, and it did not start out this way. Colloquial story-My family moved to Pittsburgh in 1996 and this house was incredible…our first Christmas here my dad took us to see the amazing display. Driving by the house was a holiday tradition for many families; ppl looked forward to it each year. Ppl would leave donations to help w the Duquesne light bill…the community loved it. Then some neighbors complained so much about the traffic and whatnot that the township made him stop (via fines, I think?). It broke his heart and soul-this man lived for this. Then the display became what it did. I haven’t been by in years-this video is seven years old so I’m not sure if it’s still there. So sad-just all of it.

@@alexanderbjerkvik to me it just shows that most people in the comment section either A doesn't live next to somebody who does such elaborate displays B don't own a home ( because ironically the guy is making it so the neighbors he hates can't move out by selling or renting the homes) and C are sociopaths because even if this guy at one point was morally right he lost that when gloating about someone's wife's death after they tried to make peace supposably

Politicalandtheologicalstudy First off they said "pies" as in plural so who knows how many the gave him second we don't know how many attempts at making peace their were and if there were other peace offerings but ether way he lost any claim to moral superiority when he gloated over someones wife's death and really what he is doing makes no sense if you think in term of how much he hates his neighbors since now he has ensured he is stuck with them since no real person would move next to that property with its flood lights and next to some one that unstable that they would put up this display and threaten to shoot his neighbors ( which this all stems from seemingly one neighbor asking him to tone down the Christmas display on thanksgiving) for years and also he reduced the property value so low that they can't take the loss they would have to to sell. Where I live those places would sell for 300K-450K easy but with that guy they would be lucky to get 50-75K; granted NJ is more expensive but still there would be one hell of a price drop because of him.

Leave him some cookies and pray for him. Nothing more.

This woman is a true KAREN.
