One of my high school friends was from a very poor family. Her mom was divorced and worked in a factory. They didn’t have a hot water heater. They had to boil water to bathe and clean everything. Their home was immaculately clean, tidy and pretty (with simple things). That made a great impression on me. I saw gratitude and proper, healthy pride displayed by them. I have never forgot that.

Amy, as a mother of 28 and 26-year-old girls, I think it’s really important that we gently encourage one another to keep on keeping on. Especially as believers… Let us not grow weary in doing good for at the proper time we will receive a harvest, if we do not give up… Also on a much lighter note, could you please tell me how you put those really cool waves in your hair… This sounds like such a 2018 question, but my hair is finally gotten longer and I want to try those bigger waves…❤

I’ve learned to love washing dishes by hand at night. I turn on some guitar music, turn down the lights and really enjoying the motion of washing the cares of the day away. I think of homemaking as blessing my family. My home has been entrusted to my care. As long as I keep that in mind it always help me stay motivated.

Yup, great points! I always try to reset the house every night, especially in the kitchen. It also helps to have a place for everything. When my husband and I moved to our new apartment after marriage I took my time to unpack and declutter to ensure that every item had it’s own place to go. That’s a major help.

Thank you for this word Amy. So often I wish I could be a homemaker again. But I have to work outside the home. I do like my job of caring for little babies. But still I needed the reminder to think, instead of " I have to go to work and care for babies", say "I Get to go to work and care for precious babies." God has given me peace about this this past Sunday at church. So, I need to remember not to replace the peace God gave me with anxiety. Instead, I need to say to anxiety, " No God gave me peace over my work, I will focus on Jesus and the peace he gave me." ❤ It helped me yesterday. And your words of wisdom will help me today. " Peace I give to you, peace I leave you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled..."John 14:27

When my boys were growing up, it seemed like there were so many books written to help with homemaking. Maybe not so now. But I found keeping a rhythm for tasks was empowering. Mondays always kicked off laundry, even if it means one load in the washer before breakfast. And I always folded it warm from the dryer. Instead of piling it in a basket for later, fold it warm into the basket and send the basket to the drawers immediately. I see so many moms doing it all, convinced its easier that way. But I used to put daily post it notes on my boys bedroom doors with 2 or 3 tasks. Their allowances depended on doing these. They are all good house keeping help as married men now. Finally, love your home This is the refuge your family needs from the world outside. Beauty, gentle conversation, much physical touch, and faith in the God who loves us.

Thank you for the reminder to find ways every day to practice gratitude. So often I feel that we take things for granted or that we just overlook things or fall into a negative mindset. As believers and Christ followers we should find ways to be thankful and grateful. I am 58 (I will turn 59 in mid-January) and my husband is 59 (he will turn 60 in early April). I do not have kids of my own and my husband has a son who just turned 25 and who is attending the Delta Propel Flight Training Program in Vero Beach, Florida. So we don't naturally produce a lot of laundry (in comparison to someone who has small kids or teenagers), but I still do at least a couple of small loads of laundry on a daily basis. Personally I do not own a lot of clothes and so it is essential for me to keep what I have clean. I also go down and walk on the treadmill pretty much on a daily basis, so I don't like those sweaty clothes sitting in the laundry bins. I try to pair my laundry with at least one deeper cleaning task daily. We live in an 892 square foot, 1 bedroom + den apartment, so it is not a huge amount of space. But I have found that if I can break up my cleaning chores daily and rotate them on a daily basis, it makes things a lot easier for me and doesn't become so mentally daunting as if I instead would choose to just let things pile up and then I am needing to clean the entire apartment from top to bottom. It is easier for me to instead put my load of laundry in and then one day go and deep clean the bathroom and then one day strip the bedding and do an extra load of laundry and then vacuum the bedroom carpet and do any dusting in that room, etc.

I agree 100% on having mental clarity by creating habits. We are in the stages of building our last home (so thankful, tired of moving😅) and in that planning I am being very strategic about design. I’ve been working on the primary bedroom closet and have decided to have it built large enough to always have every single piece of clothing my husband and myself own, in that one space, whether hung or folded. Nothing will be in a bin or in another closet in a separate room. This has been my number 1 goal since starting this process. And Lord willing I’m going to follow through. 😂
@DH-qz2so

That is what we did as well when we built...with a few exceptions such as heavy winter coats (front foyer closet) and a few dirty work clothes (pegs in garage)...but all our clothes, are in our bedroom and our bedroom walk in closets...great way to see at a glance, what we have/don't wear!

These are great tips! One thing I do when I dread doing a chore, I set a timer. For example, I tell myself, it should only take five minutes to make my bed and I try to beat that time. I do fold my clothes or making my homeschool schedule watching you, or Kristen Hoffman, Pine & Prsopect Home, or Robin Lane Lowe.

Thank you so much for this as a mom of a 23 year old a 20 year old and 17 year old things can get so mundane and out of control. I work from home and work in the home so it gets tough. I do find when I find gratitude and say a small prayer and light a candle it helps. When I can’t stand it and get really upset then I go on amazon and shop and thats ok for me. I do whatever I need to make it work. I am thinking of getting help at least the bathrooms maybe that will help since those get the most use in this home. Thanks for this video !!

As a mom of adult children, I've been homemaking for many years and I can say that all of your tips and spot on. I do them myself! I piggy-back tasks as a habit, and consolidate my trips. Organization is key!
Yup, great points! I always try to reset the house every night, especially in the kitchen. It also helps to have a place for everything. When my husband and I moved to our new apartment after marriage I took my time to unpack and declutter to ensure that every item had it’s own place to go. That’s a major help.

And I like your suggestion about pairing a chore you hate with something you love! I will listen to a podcast next time I clean my bathroom tub. I'm sure that will help. Thank you!❤
We are so blessed .....may we always recognize the small blessings that we have each day.

I love the idea of having a short list of non-negotiables! Personally, I get way more done because I feel less pressure knowing that those simple (but important) things will always just be out of the way... it's freeing!!
This was such a blessing and so practical! I never even thought to have a cleaner come 1-2 times a year! My thinking has always been that you’d get a regular cleaner which I’d never be able to spend the money on. Thank you so much for these tips! 🥰
Amy you are absolutely my favorite you tuber, such great advice...I am going to adopt the gratitude suggestion. Just wondering if you live near your mom? I would love to meet the lady that raised such a bedsheets daughter, a Q &A would be fun to see with you both or a shopping spree with you. Just a thought, think it would be so fun 😊not bedsheets, crazy spellcheck...beautiful daughter and smart daughter

I agree going through the seasons, keeps my home declutterred. My theory is if something comes in, something has to go out. Yes! When I need to wait on something, I go get the next task done while that 1st task is getting done. Totally agree on todays info.
Thank you for this beautiful boost of motivation on a Monday morning ! I love your inspiring and gratitude of for my mind of renewing my heart and mind ! Love and Prayers! Thank you dear sweet friend and sister for this beautiful Monday ! I love your beautiful home! 😇♥️
Thanks for your inspiration Amy!
Good morning Amy, you have such a great outlook on things and your absolutely right instead of saying oh I have to turn it around to I'm blessed to do these things. It takes a little time and a mind set to think different. Your right it makes a huge difference. Thank you so much for sharing this. This world is full of negative thinking and doing already so why add to it. Be blessed with what we have and what we get to do. ❤❤❤

Awesome video! So happy and grateful that I have a home to clean and clothing to wash! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you!❤️🥰
When my boys were growing up, it seemed like there were so many books written to help with homemaking.
Thank you Amy. I’m fairly organized, but posting to remind myself and help others. God bless you for the “gratitude” attitude adjustment. It makes all the difference. ❤

That is what we did as well when we built...with a few exceptions such as heavy winter coats (front foyer closet) and a few dirty work clothes (pegs in garage)...but all our clothes, are in our bedroom and our bedroom walk in closets...great way to see at a glance, what we have/don't wear!
Great video! So helpful will be rewatching because I’d love to get this ingrained. God bless you always Amy♥️You are such a good caring person!

Thank you SO much for this! I was procrastinating all day and between 4 and 7pm I got 2 loads of laundry completed fully, all my Christmas presents wrapped, dinner prepped and in the oven, and weeded out unused clothes and products from my dresser and closet. Thanks for the motivation! It's crazy what I can get done once I actually start haha!

As always, a great video, Amy. Plenty of great hacks and advice, whether you have a family or single, an empty nest , or just overwhelmed and need a place to start. When my children were little , I was thankful for our sunroom which became the play room...I could just close the doors pull the curtains and forget there was toys everywhere out there..the rest of the house was clean and tidy!

Great vlog Amy. Like many of your subscribers I also try to do a few tasks each day. Laundry first thing so that when I get home from the school run I can dry it. I definitely like folding laundry and ironing whilst listening to a pod cast. My non negotiable rule is to do the dishes and make sure the kitchen is clean before bed. Sometimes when we have been entertaining and it’s late I don’t feel like doing it but I would rather start the day with a clean kitchen and a calm head! Merry Christmas to all on this channel 🎄
