    @@nolimitracing9752....hey Dude. Very cool you did this. If you add some MEK or Meth or sum od the like, it will break down the rubber better. Im up here in CT and at 40° with 44° Road Temp and its suuuper sticky still. Ive ran 1.40 on a 40° dirty asphalt road 3 days ago. Ive played with all sorts of compounds myself. I also like a little Zanthum Gum in the mix, but it wont spray with the Gum mixed in. Alcohol will break down the rubber a little but not like the Meth or Zylene, or M.E.K. (MethylEthylKetone).

    The main ingredient in soda is high fructose corn syrup that is a more concentrated form of regular dollar store corn syrup. All you have to do is spray soda on your tires and let dry. It will be well sticky enough. But that has to be done after you prep your tires. Vht is sprayed on the track at the start line and gives the tires more grip as the hot tire comes in contact. I race a fwd car and all i do spray soda on my tires while i wait in line to race. By the time i pull up it has evaporated and im left with sticky corn syrup on my tires. This allows me to avoid tire prepping and do heads up racing. And it works great. Your method seems vary elaborate.

    @GocaKresic

    So you spray soda on the tire? And by the time you get to the line it evaporates? How much time is that approximately?

  • @vdubsterw2516

    @vdubsterw2516

    9 ай бұрын

    @GocaKresic i race in the summertime at sacramento raceway where the average temperature hits 95 to 100 degrees at 4 to 5 pm. The line can get long, so the wait time is around 35 to 45 minutes between passes. Before i bought drag radials, i would bring a bottle of cheap soda pop from the 99-cent store. I used to use any soda that was clear, like 7up or Sprite. You can even make your own by just buying a bottle of corn syrup and mixing it with water. Then i would put it in a spray bottle and bring it to the track. While i waited to race in line, i would spray it on my front tires, and because it was so hot outside, it would evaporate and leave the tires sticky. Then i would pull up around the water box and spin the tires briefly to throw the gravel off that was sticking to the tires from waiting in line.

    Here in Australia the drinks use cane sugar instead of corn syrup do you think it’ll work? or is there something with the corns viscosity like that with starch and water? I’m going to have to try and maybe add a little starch and see if it gains any more im thinking as I write it may not let fast enough adhesion in motion or maybe an abrasive but anything granular usually looses grip but if it were sharp enough maybe not? The peel test with the shoe I like lol but it’s not demonstrating the shear resistance needed I might set up a scale to drag a weight across it…or just do some rips

    I did try this. After a few minutes it's no longer sticky and is very wet. It's the hygroscopic nature of sugar sucking in moisture. Don't use this on the track, use it before the track in burnout area.

    I got a question for you, do you think I could substitute the 91% alcohol for denatured alcohol or WD -40 And do you think I could substitute the corn syrup with pure sugar mixed with the soda? I'm gonna make some track bite and I'd like to know.

  • @nolimitracing9752

    @nolimitracing9752

    4 жыл бұрын

    It's josh 907 denatured alcohol might work and you can try regular sugar but don’t use wd-40 it’s oil based and would make the formula react differently. it’ll also leave the ground slippery which could cause an accident. 91% isopropyl alcohol is cheap as dirt and burns good. If anything I would recommend experimenting with MEK instead as a substitute for alcohol
