HOMEMADE SPANISH STYLE SARDINES

Sharing my version of homemade spanish-style sardines in which the fish is slow cooked in olive oil with carrots, garlic, olives, whole black peppercorn, and spicy chili over very low heat to achieve a desired fish softness and flovor.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/4kg medium sardines ( tamban )
- 1 medium carrots, cut into flower
- 8 big cloves garlic, pelled and sliced
- 1/2 cup ( 75g ) olives, seedless
- 1 1/2 tbsp salt, adjust according to your taste
- 1 tbsp whole black peppercorn
- 3 dried bay leaves
- 3 pieces red spicy chili or chili flakes, add more or less depending on the desired level of spiciness
- 1 1/2 cups olive oil
- 1/2 cup water
* Slow cook over very low heat for 2-3 hours

Naku mare ang sarap lalo na kapag nagtagal na mas nanunuot yung lasa ng sardinas.

Malambot po pero hindi naman kasing lambot ng sardinas sa lata dahil ginagamitan na yon ng commercial / industrial pressure cooker.

Hi Mark, olive oil adds a nice flavor but you can also use other oil like corn oil or vegetable oil.

Sardinas po ang tawag sa isda na yan dito sa Spain. Sa Pinas isdang tamban ang ginagawang sardinas.
Di po spicy? Para po kasi sa mga bata salamat
Anong klase po ng olive oil? Ung extra virgin po ba or pure? Salamat po.

It will last days or even week lagay mo lang sa ref. To prolong life, use sterilized jar.

Olive oil kasi give a nice flavor sa spanish sardines pero kung wala talagang olive oil maari kang gumamit ng corn oil or vegetable oil.
