Homemade Gesso Primer Recipe
Ойын-сауық
Fed up of shelling out for gesso primer all the time so I decided to make my own and this is what I came up with. I use two to three coats, lightly sanding in between. Creates a great surface on my MDF panels for my oil and acrylic paintings.

It's a type of primer that artists use to seal their canvases or raw wooden panels. It basically stops the oil or acrylic paint from soaking straight in.

What amounts are we talking about here? Did I miss that somewhere? Also, what is ‘white emulsion’?

Hi, i didn’t give measurements as it depends how large your container is as to how much you make but I use equal measures of pva glue to talcum powder (approximately), then about double that amount of white emulsion paint. White emulsion is the type of paint you use to paint your walls with. Then just add enough water to your required consistency. I like mine a bit runnier than what I buy in the shops so it’s a personal choice. Hope that helps.
