    Works great. Not one word on the welder. .This video is totally useless. If I want to watch somebody spot weld batteries I can go to my local Batteries Pus store. If you made this welder, give us a look at the welder, not just a demo of it working.

    +Jean Beauregard The so-called 6000 mah batteries are usually more like 600 mah - as stated above, the highest capacity ever reached in 18650 batteries is around 3500-3600 mah.

    +Michael Schalk I have the same problem. I found pulsing it for .5-1sec works ok. My transformer has 3 turns of 4awg welding lead and is putting out 3v 1000a. I'm using a foot pedal from ebay that works great. I've got maybe $20 in my build.

  • @thingsdemystified

    @thingsdemystified

    10 жыл бұрын

    zloben9000 That's a good idea. That will also ensure that you won't overheat the battery. How did you arrive at that capacitance? I assume it depends on how thick the strips are.

  • @zloben9000

    @zloben9000

  • @thingsdemystified

    @thingsdemystified

    10 жыл бұрын

    zloben9000 I happen to have four 250,000 uF caps laying around. I'm going to wire them in series and charge them up to around 48V to see what happens. If that doesn't work, I'll get a couple of those 2,000,000 uF car audio caps and wire them in series.

  • @valveman12

    @valveman12

    9 жыл бұрын

    ThingsDemystified Why would you wire them in series? You will loose capacity. 4 250,000uF Caps wired in series will drop you capacity to 0.063F. Sure you can get to 48V but very low capacity. Maybe wire them in parallel to increase capacity to 1F. Yes you may only get 12V but lots of capacity.

  • @thingsdemystified

    @thingsdemystified

    9 жыл бұрын

    valveman12 I will try it to see. I don't think wiring them in parallel will produce enough voltage to make it hot enough. Capacity isn't the issue. We'll see.

    I have absolutely had it with people posting "how-to" videos that have no audio and give little or no instructions for how to do something! I'm trying to actually learn something and I have to waste time weeding through all these videos like this one! If someone wants to post a video just for shits and giggles then that's fine but it should be somehow marked so they can be bypassed by people who are actually trying to get some useful info.

    Battery spot welding machine is mainly used for 18650 cylinder call pack welding, it can weld Nickel tab thickness from 0.02-0.2 mm with good welding effect. The pneumatic model is with smaller volume and weight, easy for international shipping. click on www.tobmachine.com/18650-Battery-Spot-Welding-Machine_p766.html, view more.

  • @paintballthieupwns

    +Brian B. it's not so much the amps but the total energy discharged in that faction of a second. Think of it like a capacitor discharging. During the faction of a second a large cap discharges the amps are probably well above 1000 for the smallest amount of time. This forces the current not only to path through the electrode to the tab but also jump down to the battery and then back up through the tab then back to the other electrode. Either his setup has a cap or a bank of caps in it or has a monster supply capable of massive instant discharge rates.

    I made a battery tab spot welder with the same type of microwave transformer. Output 2.33v ac 1 Awg wire for the secondary. Two welding rod electrodes but it won't go throught the metal and weld the strip to the battery. it just weld the nickel strip and the electrodes together. I tried to use the momentry switch to act as a timer, but it still not success. What's wrong with it?

    Andreas Christodoulou your problem is the amp rating use car battery terminal directly to the copper electrodes... The microwave thing put lots of amp to the secondary enough to get it melted to point of burned off... Try car battery or any other battery with higher amp. batteries have enough amp for your work on your li ion battery
