Homeless Shelter Helps Malaysians Sleeping Rough In Singapore

On March 18, 2020, Malaysia’s Movement Control Order took effect to contain COVID-19. To keep their jobs in Singapore, some Malaysians who usually commute daily took to sleeping rough. Transit Point @ Margaret Drive, run by New Hope Community Services, opened its doors ahead of schedule and, with the help of church and public volunteers, reached out to those without a safe place to sleep.
*Footage was shot in mid-March.
Transit Point @ Margaret Drive is the third shelter run by New Hope Community Services, which has been housing rough sleepers for 16 years. To volunteer, register at bit.ly/lovingroughsleepers. Donations may be dropped off at 51 Margaret Drive between 9am and 7pm.

Deep respect for these volunteers & organisers. They are selfless and people with kind heart. While we hear scammers taking advantage of the crisis to cheat people's money and hoarders snatching up essential food supplies, it is heart-warming to know the good side of society through this video.

Yes, very grateful to Malaysia Airline to fly Sporeans back safely! Both Malaysia and Spore need each other, help and support each other all the times... Huge percentage of Sporeans have families in Malaysia, likewise. Not just for work.. Great appreciation for Malaysians able to come over to help up with their own difficulties to overcome. Help each other not pulled anyone down. And support both side Gov and just follow them positively. Its not easy, take alot of hardwork for all gov sectors and people to work together and dont expect miracle if we all go out and contract virus. If we overload and pulldown hospital med system till collapse then people will then really suffer. Our focus is our only worldwide enemy Covid 19. Please keep yourself safe at home.

Actually, Malaysian Government turned multipurpose hall to accommodate homeless. And NGO are feeding and housing all foreigner stranded at airports though. Because we have curfews now and no point to leave people outside exposed to covid.NGO also received fund from current economic pack by government. It is happening so don't judge without evidence. A person's kindness is not because of their nationality but because who they are.
