Couldn't be happier. $2,000 bucks. I actually watch your videos to learn how to take care of it, so this one is right up my alley. I traded my '78 Dodge RV that I lived in for 7 years before trading it for a Class A Dodge motor home that I lived in for another 3 years, saving a ton of money by not having to rent. Sold that RV for $1000 and bought another Dodge RV for $2000, which I lived in while having my home built on 5 acres. Sold that RV to a friend for $1500 (a steal of a deal for him). He and his family use it often. There's a little known secret on escaping rent by owning an RV...an easy and safe way to avoid having to rent. Hint: It's called security. There are thousands of businesses, especially in commercial lots, that will provide you with electricity, water, and sometimes even a key to their building for the use of their bathroom IF you agree to be on their site every night for security. I lived behind a rock and roll club in California for years. Long story but it can be done if you're willing to live small.

If you can afford a plot of land and have the money to purchase an RV, you're on your way to rent-free self-sufficiency. Whenever I visit Hawaii, I always buy a camper van and live in it while vacationing. I then sell it when ready to return to the mainland. I'm actually surprised more people don't do this. I like how Ford, Chevy and Dodge used to make these -- like you showed with the easy access to the most common parts of the engine that may need maintenance / repair. Modern ones are all tucked up in the engine compartment now and you basically have to remove the engine in some cases, just to work on them (and removing the engine usually means at least taking off the grille, and in some models, even the fenders).

Being an RV technician. That awning is manual and probably needs replaced. The ends at the bottom might also be ready to break. I've had many break on older units and replacements are difficult to find. Could easily convert to electric with that age of camper. Might want to upgrade some of the components inside just because of difficulty to get replacement parts. I'd change out the fridge for a norcold 12 volt or a furrion 12 volt off grid just to eliminate the gas hazard. It will be a nice project vehicle and a decent purchase for $5k.

These respond very well to the replacement of the carburetor with a throttle body fuel injection system. My neighbor picked up 2-3 mpg (depending on terrain) on regular gas with his Class-C RV about that size. Another 1-2 mpg can be obtained by making it 48 state legal by eliminating the CARB equipment if legal in your state, too. Keep highway speed at 60 or below, and 8-9 mpg is possible on fairly flat roads. Good video. Thanks!

Hitting the starter with a hammer used to be a thing with the Ford Taurus because Ford put it's cheapest starter on them. This '77 Dodge on the other hand is just old, it needs a new starter, a good tune-up and some TLC to make it like new again.

I bought a 1981 RV 25ft had a 350 with a Rochester 4 barrel carb. It was on a Chevy chassis G30 one-ton. Drove and lived in it for 4 years. Replaced tires twice Carrier Bering had to replace them. Flushed Radiator, Front wheel bearings. Turned over-odometer Engine had been rebuilt before I bought it. 6 miles to the gallon 32 Gallon fuel tank. Drove to Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and back up to Washington State. Did all my own repairs I saved a ton of money. Thanks, Scotty great review of that old RV. Forgot to mention I towed my 1994 Chevy Silverado 4x4 extended cab pickup truck too.

Here in the UK I fancy a couple are living in one. They turn up in our village now and again, I last saw them a few days ago. I considered doing the same in between houses but bought a caravan instead, you can't stop off on the sly anymore, only at proper campsites. Too expensive, too much moving around.

Oil changes or battery maintenance is near impossible to access either! They are both directly under the front passenger dash and required an panel to get at. I change my oil INSIDE the rig.

A white paint pen is an essential piece of equipment. One use is labeling all those power adapters that come with electronics devices. But there are a million and one other uses. Reminds me of an article in Road & Track magazine around 1970 when they road tested a "GT" (Garbage Truck). Did all the diagrams and specifications and performance runs just like they put the latest Maserati through. The best way to get a mileage on that scow is radio carbon dating.
