Oh, my! This has been such a treat, such an experience! To have such a kind mother-in-law who is so interesting, who has cultivated such a fascinating and inspiring home, who loves you and your children, is such a blessing. I feel I’ve known you for so many years, so to visit the home of your mother-in-law has been a bright spot in my day for sure. Thank you for posting this!🦋🦋🦋
Oh, how delightful! And the sound of your sweet Mother-in-law's voice is simply lovely. Please thank her for opening up her dear home to us! 💐
Absolute perfection. Your Mother in Law is being way too modest. I don't think most people could decorate so beautifully with all of the layers and textures without natural talent. I loved everything. The garden is so beautiful as well. Thank you to your Mother in Law for letting you video a tour.

Hi Jennifer, Thank you for inviting us into your mother-in-laws home; what a treat to see her beautiful, inviting home and gardens plus hear her perspective on decorating. I think of her often and pray for her as no doubt she is still missing her dear husband. Love, Julie 🌷

What a beautiful home tour! You have a most gracious and approachable mother-in-law!! How kind of her to share her home with us! What a lovely woman!🌼
Your mother in law is a gem. Please thank her for us for sharing her home.
I was most impressed with your mother-in-law. Of course her home is beautiful but she is so humble and honest. Her beauty and humor makes me feel hopeful and have a longing for more of the past.
Oh my goodness Jennifer! This was such a blessing to watch. It was like looking at a Victorian magazine in video form. That was the first thought that came to my mind. She has impeccable taste! Thank you and your lovely MIL so much for sharing her beautiful home, garden and interview with us all. It's so kind of you both.
Now she is a “mother in love” more than a mother in law. What a blessing 🩷✨ I have one of them too 🥹 I especially loved her tone of voice when you asked her if this look can be replicated on a small budget, “of course! Yard sales!” She is a gem, as are you. Have a beautiful day.

“Absorbing the life that we lead into our possessions and artwork.” This is the BEST description of how to approach decorating your home. I now must buy myself a journal and write it down. 😊
This was an absolute delight Jennifer. So appreciative of your MIL sharing her quintessential English home with us. As a Brit living in North America, this made me utterly home sick. The roses were spectacular as were the nature gardens. The maximalist style takes so much talent and your MIL has it created perfectly.
I believe that she was born with artistic/creative gifts that she developed over time. Very nice!
Oh that was such a treat, thank you to your MIL for opening up her gorgeous country home to us! Layers, color, texture, and comfort… that’s what makes a home! 💞

Thank you, Hilary! Much love ♥️♥️
This was absolutely wonderful. Your mother-in-law's home is a feast for the eyes. I showed my husband the beautiful room with the white sofa and blue throw - I said, "look at this beautiful room it has something in it that reminds me of our home". He looked and said it is a pretty room and then he started naming things, windows -no - table -no - he kept looking and all the while I knew he had not seen it. I finally said "look at the sofa" - he doubled over laughing when he saw the dog!!! We have a small dog who also likes to get on the back of one of our sofas just like your mother-in-law's dog!!! That house is a dream for this American who dreams of living in the British countryside!!! I'm sure your MIL is so happy to have her son, you and the children with her this summer! Thank you both of sharing this lovely video - now I'm going to watch it again. Hello from SC.
Your mother-in-law’s home and gardens look so beautiful and peaceful. I would never want to leave home if it was mine!!
What a treat! Your mother-in-law has such a beautiful home. I loved the words she used to describe her style: "comfort and welcoming, warm unchanging atmosphere ..." I feel relaxed and at peace just hearing those words. Her home certainly exemplifies that description.
You hit the mother-in-law jackpot. What a gracious and friendly lady. Her home is just beautiful.

That is the truth!
Thank you, Jennifer, and please thank your gracious mother-in-law for “inviting” us into her beautiful home! I enjoyed it so much! Wherever we look, we see beauty! But we can also feel a welcoming warmth, a comfortable coziness that is so inviting! I especially loved it when she said, very humbly, that she believes she doesn’t have a particular style: it made me smile, because even if I couldn’t name it myself, I could see similarities throughout the house in the way things were styled! So, to me, she does have a style, her very own artistic style, and it’s beautiful! What was as interesting as the visit itself was hearing you and your mother-in-law talk together. I felt a deep mutual respect, humor and sincere affection between the two of you! I will watch this video again and again as I want to be able to see all the details I may have missed!
I loved this so much! My husband and I have been married for 7 years, and we are just now finally decorating our home. So this video came at a very good time. And your mother-in-law is very charming! I'm sure she is enjoying having you all there. Thank you (and to her) for sharing!
What a treat! I can imagine walking around her home with her for hours talking about all her found treasures ❤
Lovely tour, thank you! It’s interesting to me that she doesn’t think she has a decorating style - it’s because she doesn’t follow anyone else. She is an artist and her style is her own creation. I love the things she said about filling your home with comfort and joy for yourself and your family, and not following trends. It’s also interesting that all her books and other things are out on tables rather than tucked away on bookcases and shelves.
Love the respect you two have for each other! You both have your own beautiful styles

A beautiful coffee table book with pictures of all the lovely rooms and gardens!
Thank you for opening your home to us. What’s not to love about your home & Garden. I think my take away was that “Layering” makes the home more inviting. When I tried a more minimalistic approach to decorating, I put my “pretties away. My home became a house. It didn’t feel like it was warm and inviting. I think some designers might label my style “Grandma Chic”. I’m not keen on labels, but, I love what I love and I’m no longer apologizing for it! Your home is lovely. I would spend time in the garden room for sure! I have a long haired dachshund and home wouldn’t be the same without her! 💜💜
TRADITION! what a great style, and lady, with loads of books! Mom In law in wonderland. Delightful.
Thank you Mrs. Winkworth for showing us your beautiful home and gardens. I love homes that are filled with love and memories.
It looks like a home out of an elegant film! Gorgeous!
Jenn I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this video. I feel as though I know your mother-in-law. You mentioned when you first visited my home in L.A., that it reminded you of your mother-in-law's, of course in a smaller version...much smaller. I take this as a high compliment. Thank both of you for allowing us into her home....It was. treat indeed.xoxoxo

Yes! You do have similar styles! I'm so glad you enjoyed this! ♥
I’ve studied this style for forty years. Heritage and tradition are important aspects of this style. It’s an eclectic style featuring mostly traditional, high-quality, inherited items and some comfortable new items, especially for seating. For my own home, I don’t add anything newer than about the WWI era, when modern styles began. MCM-style items, for example, don’t sit comfortably with this style. This style usually features an abundance of fine fabrics, other natural textures like leather, lots of books, plants and fresh flowers and traditional ornaments, including china (chinoiserie can be a significant element of this style as well). Modern art is sometimes juxtaposed against more the more traditional elements, as in this lady’s home. I began doing this in mine about ten years ago as well; this style can look stuffy without some freshness, as more modern art can bring. I also lightened up and simplified my window coverings at that time. Comfort and livability are really important, but nothing has to be super-casual, either. Thanks to both of you for the talk and tour.
What a beautiful beautiful home!!! The gardens are beyond... If I lived there I don't think I would ever leave. Thank you both for sharing the tour.
Oh what a beautiful home… thank you mother in law for allowing us into her home.
Jennifer, I absolutely adore your mother-in-law. Not only are her home and gardens fabulous, but when she said that she didn’t believe that less is more, but that more is more, I wanted to hug her and, maybe, nominate her for a knighthood! I’m sick to death of all these minimalists who keep droning on and on about “de-cluttering,” which they would seemingly define as disposing of anything beyond life’s essentials. I love my possessions, and I love surrounding myself and my family with beautiful things. Like Ben’s mother, I have inherited a great deal of my furniture and furnishings and acquired many others at estate sales. I enjoy all of them and have no desire to “simplify.” My house is full, but tidy, not as grand as hers, but still filled with beautiful things in a comfortable way. Bravo to your mother-in-law! Thank you for this tour. (And I love the Smythson bag she gave you for Christmas. What a charming family you married in to!)
Thank you for sharing such a nice and interesting vid. You are lucky to have a mother-in-law that you actually find something in common with.
Books make a room for me. I love her curated, collected look of her life. I too surround myself with things that mean something to me. I can put something on a wall or a table and live with it for years ,if it speaks to me. I also have been in my home for a long time. Fifty years this year!!!! I am also alone for the last 21. Her garden is a paradise. The roses and arbor into the pool, the river bank, the gorgeous mature trees. I am happy she has all those beautiful , loving dogs to fill her heart.
Absolutely delightful! 'I never throw anything away ', 'more is more, and 'layering', a woman after my own heart! ❤

What a wonderful interview! I was so enchanted by your mother in law’s charming voice and her direct but kind responses! Thank you, Jennifer for sharing a part of your personal life!
The “jungle room” stole my heart! I would be in there for hours daydreaming, sipping tea, and working on my fabulous next novel! Thank you both for sharing. Truly beautiful!
What a treat to see your mother-in-law's home and hear her talk. The home and gardens are beautiful.
Your mother-in-law's home is so dreamy! I am in awe of beauty. The garden room reminds me of my grandmother's home. She uses a mixture of silk and real plants. When we kids were little, we would take our toys and play in the plants, little hideouts for the fisher price little people. What a great place to make wonderful memories ❤️. Thank you for sharing!

What a treat! No. What a gift! How kind and generous of your mother in law and you to devote time to share such a lovely home and garden. Together they create a sanctuary for the soul. Please extend my gratitude and appreciation to your mother-in-law. Best wishes
What a delightful lady! Thank you for sharing with those of us who have challenges in decorating our homes. I’m 100% with her, more is more 😊 I just love her spirit❤
Soooo elegant and gorgeous! Thank you having her voice with it. Made it so special. She sounds like one classy, yet down to earth lady!!!
The books, the roses, the pillows, the dogs! So good.
I love her personality, she seemed so fun and down to earth. Her home and gardens are beautiful.
What a wonderful home. They don’t make them like that anymore. What a delightful mother-in-law you have. The Garden is just heaven on earth.
Oh my goodness! Appreciation to your mother-in-law. Where to begin - her lovely accent (to me), her style, the flowers, the textures and the furniture, the art, books and collectibles and her adorable dogs! I think I even sensed the aroma of all the flowers. This was so beautiful, thank you for sharing this with us Jennifer. I feel so refreshed what a palette cleaner for our world right now. So peaceful and wonderful. Spreading Gods beauty to all.
Hi Jennifer! Oh so much fun. I love the “Jungle Room”. Thank you for inviting us and to your gracious Mother in law for being so welcoming. Keep well 💖

This home is absolutely stunning. When I saw your first video of just the gardens I thought it was an inn or bed & breakfast where your family was staying. Thank you SO much for giving us a look inside such a beautiful property.
This video has made me rethink my minimalist style of decorating and living. There is something so comforting and calming in all of this abundance!
Very few people in England live like this. A home and garden so large and beautiful is not typical. What a privilege to spend time there.
This was so gracious of your mother-in-law to share her elegant and beautiful home. So inspiring.
Jennifer this was such a treat to see. What a spectacular home! Quintessentially English. Your mother-in-law is lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
Such a beautiful house, even unfurnished it is an amazing example of the Arts and Crafts style. Its wonderfully decorated. Love it. Lets not forget though that this is not the 'average' British house, your mother-in -law has the advantage of wealth that most of us can only dream of.Thank you Jane ,for allowing us to take a peek.

Thank you, Jennifer. What a beautiful home and the garden !!!! Your MIL was very kind to allow us into her home and to share her design tips with us , love the dogs too!
Her home is so beautiful but also looks comfortable! It’s not like some large homes that make you feel like you can’t touch anything. I was actually surprised by how down to earth her style is yet put together in such a stunning manner. My house has a lot of color, I don’t get rid of my things just because I may not be using it at the moment, company feels at home but also loves to look at all my pictures and things. Her garden is to die for yet so simple that many people can plant David Austin roses and get that same feel. What a special video, thank you to her for allowing you to share with all of us. Now I understand why you love going to England!
Aloha from Hawaii to Ms. Winkworth and Jennifer, This home is absolutely magnificent and filled with warmth and beauty. Thank you for your kindness and generosity to allow us a glimpse into such a special place. Simply stunning!
Jennifer please thank your mother in law for the lovely house tour, she must be such a hoot. I would love to hear more from her. I love to hear the wise words of older and bolder women.😊😊💕💕🌻🌻🦘🦘
Thank your mother-in-law for sharing her beautiful home. She may not be a professional designer but she definitely has a natural ability to create and curate an environment of beauty, comfort, warmth, practicality and history. It is true that your home is a reflection of the homeowner...lovely!
I am speechless...almost! What a classic English country home that could be featured in Victoria magazine! Your mother-in-law was charming and so humble regarding her obvious talent for exhibiting beauty in every corner...and who wouldn't want to spend a good part of the day in those gardens!
Absolutely gorgeous home and garden! Delightful to hear your mother-in-law describe her decorating process. This was a such a treat. Thank you! ❤ 🐶 🌸
GORGEOUS! And yes, it does look so comfortable. I’m going to tell my husband we need a few dogs now. 😊
Your mother in law is delightful! Thanks for sharing both her and her beautiful home!
Wow Jennifer! Thank you so much for sharing your mother-in-law and her story and her house with us! I hope she's doing allright, grieving the loss of her husband. The house is very grand and beautiful! I can imagine with a house this big she needs a housekeeper as you recently mentioned.
How lovely! My Mother is British and I do believe I have absorbed this style. It is so comfortable. To note: as an interior designer and florist I see that Madame has very good instincts. I think too, that people overlook the tactile....having cozy thick throws to cuddle in. Look also for pretty frames.....an important part of this look...you can always switch out the print to what you like. Well done Madame.
Thank you for sharing, that was such a beautiful house, particularly the garden house and garden, you and your mother in law have a very good rapport 🌹
Just beautiful. Thank you to your mother-in-law for sharing her home and beautiful gardens with us.
Oh my gosh, what a treat! And what a delightful woman! I am not a maximalist, but your mother-in-law's home is so inviting. I absolutely love it! Thank you so much to both of you.
Please pass on my thanks to your mother in law for the insight into her home. It’s beautiful and I love the artwork on the walls. As your mother in law mentioned, there is an antiques centre near to where I live. It’s a converted very old building (I don’t know how old) that’s about three floors high. Creaky floors, subtle scent of dust! It’s absolutely packed with bygone memorabilia, it’s like a museum. They have so much beautiful china in pristine condition and really delicate. They don’t charge an extortionate price for it either. I may go in again for some of it.
How kind of your mother in law to show us her stunning English home. It was as wonderful as I anticipated. I love English style and try to incorporate the look as much as possible in my very small home. It was such a pleasure to see her home and gardens. Love! Please thank her for us.
I love the greens used in her home as well as the stacked books & magazines. Beautiful.
I absolutely adore how adamant your mother-in-law was that you can certainly decorate on a budget. How encouraging. ❤️ She sounds like such a lovely woman. Thank you for sharing!

I very much agree with your mom, that we don't have to spend so much money to make our home classy, we have to use our creativity and understanding of the right combinations and appointments of each piece.
I LOVE ALL OF THIS! My favorite thing is probably how the tv is not a focal point in the living room, and hardly noticeable. I would just like to know how this works logistically for a family to watch together. My wish is that we could get a tour of other rooms, like bathrooms and kitchen!

Her home is a DREAM! I love how she layers textures and objects and materials. Definitely going to take some tips away from this video for my own home.🥰
Spectacular! Please thank your mother in law again for sharing. This was so special.
Oh my goodness those puppies 😭😭😭 What a lovely and liveable home!
I love how the British are unapologetic in their choices, honest while remaining not braggy and they fashion living spaces around their lifestyle. I love this house and decor style. Timeless elegance with a sweet nod to muddy puppy paws and a built in jungle for small children to chanel their inner George of the jungle sipping tea in a parlor. 😂
My favorite video. Your mother-in-law’s house and garden are beautiful. She was very gracious and humble in describing her home and was down to earth explaining how she decorated with comfort in mind and people and the dogs. I loved her choice of color and placement of everything. Her home was welcoming. What a treat for me and I’m sure many others. Thank you Jenifer for sharing.🥰. …GraceHolly from Ohio

It’s funny because I am such a minimalist but I love to visit my friends who decorate this way. It’s absolutely beautiful and so warm and welcoming. I have to admit, it was funny to see a fire going in the fireplace. Most of us in the U.S. are cooking right now. You have a lovely mother-in-law, Jennifer and she has great style!

What an absolute treat this has been. Your mother-in-law is a jewel and you fit into that family perfectly
Love how the home has been created with use in mind. Its not started by a design idea but by how they will use the space.
