Thanks for watching! This is my first time setting up a theater room, so let me know any tips you have for my set up. As long as you don’t say I have TOO many light strips...

Wonder if my comment in one of your previous videos might have helped prioritize this video? 🙂 Regardless, looking forward to watching through this video. Back in about 9 minutes. 😀

Liked your use of the LED lights - will plan to re-watch for ideas when we are at that stage in our own home theater. Plus since our HT is in basement, planning to use Hue (or appropriate addressable LEDs on stairs coming downstairs from main level.

One suggestion I would make is to raise your center channel. The ideal spot would be where your UST projector is sitting but since that is not an option it looks like you have space just underneath it in your media cabinet. One other suggestion would be to purchase an ALR specifically designed for UST projectors. They do a great job of rejecting ambient light making for a nice bright image even with lights on in the room. While I like it pitch black for movies I do like some lights on for sports or gaming. Of course this would mean wrestling with another screen and trying to get it lined up properly. Something for a later project maybe…

Which is best projector for 40 person capacity theatre? Thank you for amezing smart theatre tour 👍☺️
I've watched quite a few of your videos, and I've noticed that while you include your children fairly often, it seems you're very mindful to never mention their names or let their faces be seen by the camera. Good on you for being a conscientious parent.
8:23 I knew the end scene won’t dissapoint me😂
As a Govee Ambassador, I have been waiting for good footage of the Lyra for a while. I'm so excited for it to be released. Great video!

Thanks! Yeah I was surprised at how much I liked the Lyra.
A room like this is my life goal. Beautiful!
I'm Blown Away with your Home Theater Reed. I'm Very Impressed. 😍🎥🍿
That was the best closing scene yet. That is exactly what my toddler did the other day to get into her big brothers room that is blocked by a gate.
Love it!!! That’s got to be so much fun for you and your family!!! Great job!!👍😀
Some of those automations are well thought out! You can tell that you're experienced at this
Damn that Gove Lamp is fire 🔥
This was AWESOME! I'm in the process of turning my garage into a "convertible" theater (my other theater is about to become the nursery), and I just ordered those light strip diffusers, awesome idea. Love the theater!
Excellent video again by Reed. Just the best at smart home. Good job Reed continue the good work.

I appreciate it Theena! Glad to hear you liked the video!
Great setup, Reed! Your Smart Theater is a term I need to use more often 😉 I'm very much into automation, RGB lights and utilizing our shared space as an all-in-one room for hosting, big movie sound and the conveniences and comforts of home - we even have a wet bar and bar table behind the main seating in common! We have very similar spaces and I look forward to coming back to this video for reminders of what I need to add to our space. Cheers!

Thanks! Wow that sounds like a great set up!
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen! I'm so jealous! Congrats on an awesome job mate!
Moving your center channel out of that cabinet or at least higher up pointed towards the listening position will help a lot. The center channel is the most used speaker in any movie and you are stuffing it inside a box on the floor.

that's a real challenge with short throw projectors,
Give us a guide on where lights look good and where they should never go pls
man, you took it to another level. I loved the chairs
One day I hope to afford a house with a media room, and I'm stealing all these ideas when I do. Great job, that looks super amazing!
Awesome Valencia Tuscanys look great. Love my red ones too! Great reviews
Thanks for inspiration man... have been watching your other videos too... loved it....
So good!! Thanks for some inspiration. When you mentioned the govee floor lamp I immediately went to the website ahaha gotta get one of those when they’re out 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Wow your house is going to be absolutely amazing 😁that is just awesome
I would put the center speaker on the shelve above the one it’s currently one, so it’s closer to ear level. And maybe angle it up a bit towards your ears
@SmartHomeSolver

I would have liked to put it higher but it wouldn't fit on that top shelf. Putting it on an angle is a good idea though.
What an amazing set up!!!
Really nice setup! Congratulations!
I am 10 year old and I also enjoy the smart home cinema of my house. Your video gave me some idea when I implemented mine. Thank you for sharing.
Love your media cabinet!
This is an epic setup! Love the fine details like the light up candy cabinet along with a kid proof automation…and you can never have too many light strips! 😂

Thanks Ron! Glad you liked it!
Awesome theater, Reed! You’ve definitely inspired me! You have to put on a RomCom for your wife so that she’ll watch. But then you’ll go to sleep!🙂
I was given an 8" sub awhile back. Put it behind my theater seating and kept the 10" sub up front. Adding the 2nd sub really fills the room better, don't have to push the other sub as hard and adds a little more oomph to the couch. Just this week received a monster 15" klipsch sub. Can't wait to check that out. BTW, very nice theater, nice video. Very happy to see you're not all homekit all the time as I had feared when you moved into your new house.

I’d definitely fall asleep in the first 10 minutes😜 Once again awesome job!

the final is amazing!!!!"))))
Amazing set up! You should upgrade those movie posters to some smart light boxes to light those up for that movie theater feel.
I love your Home Theater setup! We have ours mostly setup, but we are still waiting for that 75 inch Hue Gradient strip before we do a video on it...

I'm looking every day for that too, Brayden.
cool little room sir well done!
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing! I have a few questions as I'm working on a floor plan for a similar sized area, hoping you wouldn't mind answering them. 1) How tall is your ceiling? 2) How much space is between the top of the projector and the screen? 3) How far away are your seats from the screen?
WOW.. you rock! amazing cinema room.

i love it
youve literally thought of everything! Your kids are soo lucky and they probably don't even realise haha
Great Video once again. I've been trying to find someone that has automated the lights on the chair. That's something I haven't figured out yet. Also, you can flip the LED lights on the bottom on the chair to point away from the screen so you won't get that glow when reclining.
Cool! I was thinking about getting optoma cinemax p2 but I decided to go with an lg long throw projector (lg hu810pw).
damn, that's a sweet setup, man!

I want that floor lamp now!!
Really nice setup man! One small suggestion would be to get that center channel a little closer to the screen
underrated channel
Look into an AC Infinity aircom T8 to get rid of the hot air from the receiver on top when there is not much clearance above. Nice room!

I have 2 ac afinity fans on top of my receiver and thy work wonders, really gold brand
Need to replace that baby gate with a velvet rope. Just like a real theater LOL. Great looking setup!
Some acoustic panels and boom, sound will intensify!!!
I use an Nvidia Shield and with Home Assistant you can get the state, and app it's using. I use this for various things, change the lights to Brewers colors during Brewers games (including the hyperion lights behind the tv), as well as when something is playing it will dim down lights, or when idle or paused for 30 seconds turn lights back up. I also have the state for changing hyperion between some cool idle spinning colors or when playing it will sync to the tv. Pretty neat, Home Assistant is amazing. I also use the state of this to check if lights should be turned down dim at night or if someone is still there.
Looks great! I hope to be purchasing an Optoma CinemaX ultra short throw projector in the coming months. Have you posted review on it? Does it remember the same input at power-up, or do you need select it every time? Does the white projector distract or stand out when watching movies? I'm torn between the P2 and the black Pro (slightly higher lumens/contrast) ...also more expensive. Can you watch anything with the lights on and blinds open? I noticed the screen you're using doesn't appear to be ALR or oriented for UST projectors.
Very nice

Hello, Are the Govve floor light controlled by IFTTT? especially for the effects (To link it to Smartthings by Virtual Device) Thanks
Nice room but I would recommend moving the front speakers forward as they don't have any breathing room atm. You also might want to move the centre speaker up and tilt it towards ear hight. I think it would really improve the sound.
Can you do a new video on smart outdoor landscape/accent lighting? I’m looking for path lights, uplighting (spot lights) for the front view of the house, and something like a strip light or the mini spotlights like the Sylvania Garden Spots (discontinued?) for going along the backyard fence, all full color and fully customizable for automations and seasonal scenes. Seems like there aren’t a lot of reasonable options outside of Hue that can be reliably programmed with a Hub like Home Assistant (and I have managed to avoid Hue thus far!). I’d even be down for outdoor rated color smart bulbs for things like the path lights and house spotlights, to put into small outdoor garden lighting fixtures!
I use a power sensing outlet on my projector/amp to establish “movie time” mode. This way, if my wife turns on the Apple TV via the remote, The house will still turn on “movie time”. Higher WAF is always good! :)
One word: Noice!
Very cool setup. Seems like you worked out the smaller space for a nice theater setup. How do you have your living room setup in comparison to the movie room?
Hi ! Can you tell me what gadget are you using to turn on the projector with voice command ? Is it using hdmi cec ?
Great video; I’m going to incorporate some of the lighting into my home theater. Thank you. love the ending!!!! She is 2 cute.... uh no......
Reed i love your setup, i feel envy, in a good way i mean hehehe, God Bless you, your mind and your ideas, specially your family that Support you.... Now, can you tell me why you have Govee Lights and Kasa Light Strips and YeeLight, instead of having all of them from one brand, because Govee have lightstrips as well, i am just curious to know, i have the Govee Light Strips and the Govee Inmersion for the TV, i don't like to have a lot of products from different companies if one of them have everything or almost everything that i need. ANd thanks for your videos. Also i have some questions about ST Automatization and HA . Thanks in advance.
Cool man cave Reed 👍 If I may suggest, put the center channel speaker on the top shelf and aim it to your seating position using door wedges. Also, where are your back speakers?
@SmartHomeSolver
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Charlo! I would move up the center speaker but it doesn’t fit unfortunately. That’s where I originally wanted it. I have the rear speakers I just need to get some stands for them and connect it.
Hi, im curious how did u manage to get the lights to dim and or shut off/ turn on when you press the play button of the movie. What kind of software or device did you use. Great setup, grettings from Panama
We've gone from smarthome videos to straight up flexing on the middle class
Hmm, first video of yours I've come across, I dig it. I'd like to learn how to do automation things, are there videos that go in to details about setting up those routines? I haven't done anything with Alexa, heck I just setup a good night automation with the google assistant the other day lol. New space will be using govee strips, like the rgbic, my smart bulbs, I went GE C, because I didn't want to pay the Hue or Lifx premiums, but while they work fine with their own app and basic stuff like brightness and color with google, scenes and animations aren't really accessable it seems, least not that I've managed to sort out.
How do you turn on a Yeelight led strip based on a trigger from, what I assume, is a smart plug in the Smart Life / Tuya app?
3:03 how do I arrange the buttons to be side by side as you have arranged the Alexa movie preview and Alexa Routine movie
Hi, do you have an idea on how to animate the led strips with home assistant?
Although they can be a pain to install, I highly recommend a fiber optic starlight ceiling!
@SmartHomeSolver
3 жыл бұрын
Those are pretty sweet. Maybe one day.
Cool set-up Reed. What's the date for Influencer Movie Night?
Would love to know how did you achieve the lights the media cabinet with the contact sensor.
Hi! I have been trying to have HA control Alexa routines and have gotten a little frustrated because I don’t know how to set the trigger for it on HA and how to set it up on Alexa itself. Can you help me out?
Hi, great video, regarding the Govee floor lamp, are they zigbee or wifi? and are they compatible with Smartthings hub?
You should do reactive bias lighting around the border of your screen via Hyperion!
The Dashboard of the phone and tablet is on the Alexa app? I’m from mexico and the Alexa app looks different doesn’t have icons for movie preview , cinema eat .. etc
I've been wanting to buy light strips, specifically those from Philips Hue, but I'm not seeing a ZHA integration in Home Assistant, and I don't really wanna setup Z2M. Not sure what to do.
Move your center channel up to the top shelf. Right now it's pointed at your feet and while the extra foot up probably wont be enough it will sound better at least.
I would love to see an automation for raising some lights when pausing the movie. Bonus points if you could do it with a Harmony remote.
@davidgulbransen6801
3 жыл бұрын
I love my Harmony Remotes. RIP Harmony though, sadly. I can’t believe Logitech decided to kill them off now.
Hey Reed, I know its an old video, but I have the same projector as you, and HA... I wanted to know how you turn on the projector automatically?
What dashboard are you using at the 3:04 mark?
Where do you get that specific Govee floor lamp? All the ones I see have legs on the bottom. Yours has a unique base.
Hi ! Witch door sensor do you use in your TV stand ?
How did I miss this video
Which light strip brand do you use along the base boards?
what physical button did you use to connect the lightstrip?
Little late on this video looks great. Could you explain how to control my projector, receiver, and ps4 would really like to say turn on and off media room,
