When I started dating my husband we used to go out for buffalo wings all the time. We'd talk over an order of wings we were just kids back then it seems like a lifetime ago but every time we order buffalo wings it reminds me of thoese times.

This place is on my Bucket List!

Welcome to our city. Hope you don't get caught in the monster snow storm that is coming tomorrow. Frank n Theresa were the original owners of the Anchor Bar. Story goes her sons had company so their mom Theresa fixed up a quick meal of Chicken Wings fried than coated with buttered hot sauce and thats how it got started.

I first tried this delicious creation in 1991 complete with the celery and blue cheese dressing. Prior to that I had never tasted blue cheese and didn’t know it was customarily served with the wings. All I knew was that my coworkers said I had to try the Buffalo wings that were served near where I lived at the time. This was before the proliferation of innumerable flavors that arose when restaurants began to cater to people who didn’t actually like Buffalo wings but wanted to participate in the trend. That’s also why ranch dressing became popular. Curiously, many didn’t like the delicious flavor of blue cheese dressing.

There was an anchor bar restaurant at an upscale mall in Richmond Virginia but it only stayed open couple months then closed unexpectedly. We ate there twice and it was very good. No explanation why they closed so quickly

That looked like a really neat place wings looked yummy 😋

I cannot believe you were in Buffalo. I live about 15 minutes away. Thank you for the accolades of the Anchor Bar.

That salad was very appealing and the wings superb!!! I'm a big wing lover and the more garlic there is the better!!! I could hear the crunch which you have to have!!! Glad you enjoyed your meal!!! You 2 had quite the road trip.

Buffalo has a lot of good food, but the anchor bar is were the tourists go. Best wings are at Gabriels Gate downtown.

Ah yes the big rivalry there in Buffalo NY, Anchor Bar vs Duffs Famous Wings. Eaten at both several times and VERY good wings. I like Duffs Famous wings a tad more than Anchor Bar. Both outstanding wings and very crunchy and tasty but I lean towards Duffs.

Great wings!! But if you do some research you'll find out that the buffalo wing wasn't really started at that bar. It actually came about from an african American gentleman in the same area. They stole his idea and took credit 😔 just some food for thought 😊

My jaw literally fell off, when I looked at their menu prices for wings! They want $122.99, for only 50, yes I got it right, only 50 wings, for $122.99!!! No thank you. That’s pretty greedy! That comes out to, $2.46 per wing! No thank you!

Anchor Bar is not the original they stole them from a black man named John Young do the research
