Home Made Speaker Driver
Ғылым және технология
Hello guys! In this episode I will explain how speaker drivers work. And I think the best way to do this, is to build one and explain everything while I build it.

I am 74 years old and have been working and playing with speakers all my life. I would never have believed someone could simply build components like you just did. Bravo.

Yeah. I made a diy speaker box from an aluminum soda can and some pillow stuffing, and sealed it with hot glue to the point of no air leaks. This is an acoustic suspension design, and the pillow stuffing makes those sound better. Used a typical small 10 watt full range speaker driver. (Not a woofer, nor a tweeter, but can do both.), which I had mounted on the end you usually drink from, which was removed with a can opener. I was surprised when it actually sounded good, not unlike this. Literally took me an hour and a spare speaker driver to make.

Speakers are rated in reactance resistance. So 5.6 ohms is generally 8 ohms on a speaker. Also if you put a metal ring or sleeve around the outside of the coil that would greatly increase the sensitivity as this would pull the magnetic field across the coil. Good job.
You are incredibly talented and resourceful. I enjoyed this video more than most I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing your talents.
Sorin, you're a goddamn electroninja. What a wonderful project! I enjoy your no-nonsense approach, and your use of real, accessible everyday objects. I have learned a lot from you. Thank you.
Un roman care chiar face ceva pe bune, wow, nu mă așteptam să aibe și bass

what a sick lad, he hearts all of the comments and its a good video that's anti-clickbait 4:04 "soda" thats what my teacher said
Some tips for speaker making: 1. If stifer the speaker the more power it needs to get the same loudnes as a non stiff speaker 2. Higher the speaker impedance harder to drive it to the max volume 3. If your voice coil has smaler air gaph beneth the magnet, the biger will be the sensiviti (80dB
Omg dude! You took some plastic, paper and copper wire and made it into a working speaker!!! This is mind blowing
You are a gift. You are making projects accessible to people who don't know the right questions to ask. Thank you.

dude made a entire bookshelf speaker by hand that is impressive
Incredibly creative! I've been constructing speakers for close to 40 years, but never tried building my own drivers. Now I will!!
At last when the bass hits the woofer that was the moment I realised how awesome it is bro none other like you great work hats off to you
Seven thumbs down from "audiophiles" lol. Thanks for the thorough explanation and the no-nonsense approach. I was expecting a mere proof-of-concept, gramophone-like sound-grinding... "something". But I was quite impressed by what you managed to get in the end. Great job! Thanks for sharing și ține-o tot așa!

Galing-galing! I will watch it again because I was watching in amazement I forgot the true details of your video. 👍👌. Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭...
Absolutely awesome project. I have always wanted to make a loudspeaker and I think the most difficult part when creating one DIY style is the frame/basket. Very ingenious solution. Very impressed that you also done the tweeter and enclosure. You have a new subscriber!
Best DIY speaker build that I've found so far, excellent descriptions and use of everyday materials. I just built an amp so naturally need self built speaker next :)
Romanian undercover, cool video 👍
I thought you were just gonna make a speaker thats not even good but then you proceed to explain how it works and actually makes a good quality homemade speaker with a tweeter, I'm impressed... I subscribed this is amazing

Sorin, I'm so impressed with the fearlessness with which you tackled this project. Excellent work, Sir!
That was awesome, still a great amount of bass for a diy speaker. Great video bro, i might even try it myself.

WELL DONE!!! everything is homemade, for the first time I see a person who did everything himself. respect
Oh man that was brilliant 😎 gonna save this video for a rainy day project, thanks.

your material sourcing is genius.
Praise the holy algorithm. This video really simplified every part of the process for me.
very well done ! well explained and executed. as its been said before, finally someone building a real speaker and putting in some effort, its a great build. enjoy your beer, oops i mean soda, its well deserved.
This is amazing, especially that the fact it’s fully diy. Amazing sound quality if you ask me!!
Absolutely outstanding work. I've looked at various diagrams without properly understanding it. Now I completely get it.Thank you Sorin! Modern manufacturing techniques mean even complex things can be manufactured extremely cheaply. Nothing here is hard to make in a modern factory, all the parts are so simple that Sorin was able to make a passable version out of literally nothing. I fully appreciate that speaker manufacturers use high grade materials to make really high performing drivers but, at its core, it's a very simple collection of parts. There must be plenty of profit to be made when selling a few of these drivers in a nicely built cabinet and charging £1k, 10k or even in excess of £100k in many cases. Anyway, Bravo Sir!
I leared lot today, found very practical video...thx for posting

Cool!!! it is necessary to make measurements with a "Measuring microphone"... I always thought it was difficult... especially (to choose an annular ferrite magnet, upper flange, thickness, inner diameter of the upper flange)... And with a neodymium core magnet, everything is simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!

finally! somebody who made a homemade speaker that doesn't suck!
that is one of the best sounding diy from scratch speakers ive ever heard
U should change the thumbnail
Best sounding 30 dollar speaker out there.
This is a WARNING to who want make this DIY Speaker. In all these videos of DIY Speaker all the people forgot to measure the voice coil impedance, that's critical to make the speaker work properly, too high impedance make the speaker less efficient and has low power as well, this speaker can burn out few types of amplifiers because higher indutance of the voice coil can cause ressonance on the LC filter and may exceed the limits of the component, causing them blow up. Besides the problems that can happen, the result was very nice and the design was very good.
Now that is dedication to a project. 👏👏👏
Unglaublich, Wahnsinn was du drauf hast! Greetings from Austria

Super cool actually sounds better than i expected
I thought it was just a single speaker built to proof of concept, but you made a woofer, tweeter, crossover filter and a speaker cabinet. Also it sounds better, nice work 👍
Quick though, not sure if someone has mentioned it yet or not, if so my apologies! Try using an oil ruber based contact glue to coat the paper cone!
Wow. You're the first person I've ever seen make a driver with no existing parts. Nice job
