I was bit on my boob while picking up sticks in SE Michigan on my 4 acre parcel. I didn't feel a thing while working outside. After I took a shower I noticed that my boob looked like it grew another boob and it was flaming red and purple in the center. I went to see my doctor at University of Michigan Hospital. He sent me to Urgent Care. This happened years back when U of M and Univ of Denver were 2 places that had Brown Spider specialists. They were so excited! The venom of the spider usually liquefies the surrounding tissue. I didn't get any of that because I was on steroids for my asthma. I told the docs that nothing could kill me because of the meds for the asthma!

Haha nice me too actually
I used to live in an apartment infested with them. The traps I set out used to look exactly like that one he showed. I feared even going to sleep at night because I thought one would crawl into bed with me after I saw how many were glued to the trap under my bed. The only thing that helped a bit was constantly using glue traps, having nothing for them to hide under or behind (I was poor and had little furniture or junk anyways) and using TONS of desiccants along with running the AC frequently. Keeping the environment dry seemed to greatly deter them for some reason, although it made my skin feel horrible. Thank God I don't live in that shithole anymore.

I manage an apartment complex in Southern Illinois and we have had a recluse problem for years. I found a very good exterminator several years back, but he retired. Sadly, the guy I have now isn't that great, so I'm always on the lookout for something that kills these little buggers on the spot...having used Easy-Off, straight ammonia, spray paint, etc., but they just shake it off and run away. Recently I was cleaning an apartment and was using Mr. Clean Clean Freak mist, yellow bottle, and saw a recluse in the tub. I gave it a shot of that stuff and it curled up and died instantly. I was so thrilled. I showed my bug guy how well it worked when he was here and he was amazed. Don't know what's in it, but it really works. So much easier to squirt this on them than to try chasing them around and stomping on them.

Vinegar kills them too. They don't like the smell of peppermint, cinnamon & lemon. Ants & other bugs don't like it either it's good to go ahead and spray it or even make something you can spray it with and place around your home, like under your bed so they'll at least go to another area away from you because they don't like the smell.

You do a really good job, Dan, i'm impressed! I'm currently battling brown recluse spiders. I need to get some of the products you're using. On a off-note, one thing that blew my mind is they have SOOO much stuff (a lot of it nice), but have sheets on the windows as curtains. Sell some (or a LOT!) of that stuff and buy some decent curtains. Doesn't matter how nice your stuff is if you're going to kill the room with sheets for curtains.

Whether you’re self employed or not. The law is the law. Some states are stricter than others but every state has rules and regulations that must be followed or there will be disciplinary or fines. PPE is not a thing to be lazy on, your health matters the most and for someone who’s career it is to spray toxic chemicals all day, it shouldn’t be taken lightly. This stuff can cause serious health problems in the long run. Hi Dan: Need someone who is good in Tennessee, Nashville area. Also, how long do you have to be out of the house, and also, what about small children and pets being in the house afterwards?
We moved into our house 2 years ago, since day 1 we have had countless spiders. And not the small type, but giant house spiders and brown recluse‘s alike. And in my bedroom specifically, since it used to be an old garage I have had the most. My bedroom has a door to the outside that I leave open quite often because it gets really hot and humid in my room plus when it’s shut it doesn’t seal properly and there’s quite a few gaps spiders can easily get through. The wall is also old and has many cracks and gaps in it as well, my room is also kind of used as storage so it’s always cluttered and has lots of shelving. I’ve tried getting the exterminator out quite a few times ( he is coming to my house again in a week ) and it’s only ever temporary got rid of the problem, I frequently vacuum and mop my room and try to keep it picked up. I have 4 spider traps in my room that always fill up in just a few weeks.I also use essential oil bug spray. And yet I still see multiple spiders a week in just my room! I’m begging someone to give me advice and a solution to my problem help I’m freaking scared the shit of spiders. I’m going to commit die. Show less

MGK Onslaught Fastcap.
Whenever I visit Nashville, I always take those sticky traps with me in case there are any Brown Recluses in my hotel room! I would love to see one in real life. I would also love to see a Black Widow. I did have a Kissing Bug (Assassin Bug) in my hotel room once, which I was not happy about, as they are way more dangerous than the Brown Recluse!
Question about this sort of scenario where that attic was FULL of bins. Would the dust make its away into the bins? Moreover, would you expect the brown recluses to nest or be in the bins, or do they typically stay out of enclosed enviornments like that due to the low food influx that would cross there path? Also, after a treatment like the one in this video, how long and how many subsequent visits would be expected to fully eradicate the brown recluse problem, if ever? Great videos btw, love ya :)
We have an infestation of brown recluse spiders. They aren’t in the attic though. They seem to be mainly under the drop ceiling in the basement and also in the return air ducts. We have sticky traps and have paid for monthly bug service for a season and now do pestie, but they aren’t going away. How do I get them out of my return air ducts and out of my drop ceiling? Can I fog those places?
Onslaught Fastcap is the undisputed champ or Spectre 2 SC for B.R. bcos they’re Scavengers. Non repellent for the secondary kill. Either one does an outstanding job in my opinion.
Man I'm currently dealing with these in sw missouri. Dozens in my closets I've got a huge basement and attic. What's the strongest stuff I can buy ? Thinking dust and spray
They say that direct sprays obviously work but residual sprays don’t work well for spiders. I’ve used that talstar for roaches before in restaurants and homes and that is a fantastic chemical. To get the professional products like you have southern states or agri-supply is a great place to get them.
I saw a couple inside my fiancé‘s house. He sprayed we put down sticky traps we bought diatomaceous earth and bug bombs (foggers). Also I did call an exterminator today and they will be coming out and spraying regularly. I really hope this works. I haven’t seen more than three on a sticky trap sometimes none on a sticky trap but I am scared😬. House is very old so i’m sure it’s never been sprayed before old guy lives there

I am also wondering why he had the house a year and a half and I have never seen anything until now. Remodeled the whole main level took out walls etc. and we never saw eggs or spiders. However we have just now started cleaning the old nasty mess filled basement so maybe that is why
Literally the most attractive bug guy I’ve ever seen. Just sayin.
I think you should be wearing your respirator and at least gloves while dealing with chemicals.
Want to know an epic trick ? If you have to goose out a large area with delta dust, or Diatomaceous earth, you use a milwaukee battery leaf blower and pour the container into the intake. You could do those whole areas you cant get to in 3 seconds. Literally.
Thank you so much. Great video. Everyone SHARE THIS.
Do you have to see the target in order for you to treat spiders and apply chemicals?
whats the best and quickest way to completely eradicate a brown recluse infestation in a storage unit and in a car in said storage unit
My apartment has them everywhere I put out glue traps like 15-20 and almost every trap has a spider on it. It's 4 apartments where I live and 3 apartment has brown recluse that I know of. How can I find out where there coming from I hate spiders and my 6yr old daughter is so scared of all bugs I need help.
There was an older woman maybe in her early to mid 60s that lived on my street when I was like 9-10 years old who got bitten by one. My mom told me at the time that she went to grab a can in her root cellar when it happened. She was actually in the hospital for like 2 weeks and lost part of her finger because she had such a severe reaction.
I found three brown recluse spiders in my apartment in the last couple of days. Save me Dan. No seriously, I’m freaked out
I live in Monroe, Louisiana and my brother was bitten 3 times by a brown recluse spider… twice on his right thigh area, once on the left thigh. He spent a month in the hospital, had two surgeries and numerous rounds of powerful antibiotics. He almost died. I have heard that if you are bitten by a brown recluse and the spider injects venom, if you do not kill the spider that bit you, it will come back the next day and time to “feed” where you were bitten. I always thought that to be a myth until that happened to my brother. This was in 2020 right around the Covid pandemic but he is alive and well today! We call him Spider-Man or “Spidey” now 😂 …. Thank you for sharing your videos and informative information Dan…. Knowledge is Power!!

We've lived in this house 17 years and last summer was the first time I have ever seen brown recluses here, but I have found them in almost every room of the house. I first saw them in the master bathroom upstairs and questioned if they were coming from the attic because the hatch is in the walk-in closet. I had just emptied the entire closet and painted it 6 months before and donated alot of clothing so the closet isn't cluttered. I now vacuum against the baseboards frequently as I've seen them there and have put the sticky traps literally everywhere. If I see one in the wild I smash it with my shoe. This whole thing has been very unnerving as I am a nurse and have seen the damage they can do. I'm contemplating caulking along the bottom of the door frames and where the quarter round meets the floor as I have seen them run up under there. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to seal that attic trap door with maybe the foam insulation caulk rope or something like that.

It's like that movie, Arachnophobia. You know, if you are going to shoot the bugs directly, you can use dish soap in a spray bottle. Way safer for you, the people and the environment. Gentrol is an absolute big no in areas where there is natural bodies of water, street drains, water run off of any kind, sprinkler systems, rain. Also, there is no way to know how it will effect other animals, but if it gets in the water imagine the horror to the fish stocks. It is bad! Actually all pesticides need to be used with caution with respect to water, rain, pets and people. I'm getting the glue boards and doing a set on Monday. Oh my gosh this place is a spider zone.
Wish you worked in Louisville. Know anyone good that works here? I just had one drop from my ceiling into my toilet while I was peeing 😳. I've found 6 in the last two months and I'm about to burn my house down 🤣
