You're so right -- Home Free is a tough act to follow. With this anniversary remake of "Stand By Me" they've dang near reach that impossible perfection. What an arrangement! So sweet and smooth. I think Ben E. would be proud of his song. Thank you for sharing your reaction!

One of the songs I have been listening to for as long as I can remember. (I'm from 1963) First the LP, later I always had it on one of my cassette tapes, then I got the CD and in recent years I usually have it on one of my playlists. Although many versions had been released in the meantime, it was usually the version by Ben E. King or Otis Redding. But from now on it is the version of Home Free that is on my playlist and no other. Alternating the lead between Austin's powerful voice and Rob's silky soulful voice just sounds so beautiful and fantastic. Then the unparalleled vocal percussion, truly phenomenal. The incredible bass and beautiful background vocals/harmony are the finishing touch.❤

Rob is a superstar, man. I just can’t get enough of this cover of the Ben E. King classic. Everyone has covered this song but there’s something special about it when HF puts their stamp on it. Hell, you should make a cover. Why wouldn’t you? 🔥 I’m minding my bidness.

I absolutely love what Home Free did with this already awesome classic song! The bell tones in the background when Rob was singing, the dissonant chords that just sound so danged good... love seeing Adam singing, too (that's always a special treat)! Thank you for reacting to this, Michael! As always, love watching you feel the music and totally appreciating these fine gents' talent and incredible harmonies.

DSyde - I get it - I truly think Ben E King is smiling down from his cloud - these guys paid homage in such a way as not to try to emulate the original - only Ben E King could ever do that - but they took his song and presented it such a beautiful, dynamic way that even the "haters" and "naysayers" are left speechless, as I am. "Gospel" Rob's sweet velvety voice just "slayed the damn dragon" as far as I'm concerned. On the last chorus, Mr. Rupp's magical snare began and drove home the final nail and the beautiful ending harmonies placed a neatly tied bow of love - tied by our very own heartstrings!!! I love this! Loved the bell tones when Rob was singing. Loved the slowed down part with 5 part harmony. My goodness, those boy have exquisite harmonies. Adam killed it again. Brought the song new life for me. Good one as always DramaSydE!!! 🥰😄

Love this great classic song from Ben E. King back in 1961. The Home Free guys did an awesome version as always. Love their arrangement on this cover. Great vocal leads by Austin & Rob. Tim's bass really stands out for me in this one. And Adam's tasteful vocal percussion is on point.

They definitely upgraded the song from The Sing Off. It was Home Free and Shawn Stockman, Jewel, Nick Lachey and another guy I didn't know. Always enjoy watching your reaction to these guys.

man, the subtle percussion effects that Adam adds like the soft bass drum kicks etc...simply amazing, his dynamics and accuracy seem to constantly out due each other with every new release.

I love that fifth harmony from Adam Rupp during the breakdown and also on the last "Ooooo." It adds a lot to the arrangement. The handoffs between Austin and Rob are so smooth, too.

Soooo smooth. Just makes you want to sway and sing along. Special night for Home Free (11/08/23), first time walking the red carpet at the CMAs. (Saw a pic of them in coordinating black suits.) Austin mentioned on IG that he'd be walking it with the rest of the guys and then, again, with his wife, Amberly. He's had quite the year with his solo releases. Congrats to all of them!

Home Free took a classic song, which the original is wonderful, and made it a new classic, not taking away from the original. Wondering what Sing Off song will be released next week! Whichever it will be, I know they’ll do it justice and we’ll love it!

You aren't the first that I've heard comment on how they changed the tone of the song; the other commenters have said the original (and many other versions) were a bit slower and, by comparison, with a hint of sadness and longing in the tone. But HF did it in a lighter tone of sweetness.

HF often uses unexpected progressions - and I think that is part of their success.

Just thought I'd make mention of the fact that, for the last few days....every single reactor I listen to....no matter who or when it was recorded....has the exact same number of Likes on their video. Two days ago it was 373....yesterday and today it has been 565. Everyone....every time. Is that normal....and I'm just now noticing it? Or it this kinda hinky?😮 I knew you'd like this. That’s crazy

I have previously enjoyed your presentations of Home Free and I applaud their musicianship. But that was a long while ago as I don’t really have a strong appetite for A Capella. But as this song is well known I was intrigued to see what they’d do. Wonderful voices and musicianship again but I felt that they just lost contact with the lyrics. And if your version has got some grit, then please just go for it, we’d love to hear it and it’s not a competition anyway.
