Home Espresso Machine Tour, Breville Barista Express Review, And Favorite Coffee Tools
Yes, I did carry my machine all the way outside to take this thumbnail photo. Anyways, here's everything I talked about in the video! I 100% recommend checking out any of these brands if you're in the market for any home coffee setup goods c:
Also, I'm not sponsored by any of these companies, just showing what I use!

Ahmed Refaat while there are many ways to brew coffee that are technically correct and/or “better”, I’m a big believer that people should just make it however they like. James and I both have very different audiences and purposes on KZread, both are equally important but different! ☺️

@@morgandrinkscoffee I really like you both! Sometimes I don't agree with one or another, but for me that's no reason to dislike. All the best!
I'm almost convinced your name is Morgan "Pretty Nifty" Coffee
I didn't know what to expect when I clicked on this video, but it was so nice to see someone so passionate and knowledgeable about something go through the process. Thank you.
I just recently moved into my own place and I’ve been loving your videos to help guide me through making coffee, esp during Quarantine! 💖 One of my local coffee shops made this Bananas Foster latté as a seasonal drink, and I’ve been thinking about it for months. I’d love to see your take on it!!
I think the first coffee videos I watched were from Seattle Coffee Gear. Now I watch James Hoffman, and I've just started watching you. I think the the thing I like best about your videos is your smile.
Watching your videos is always a pleasure and it eases my anxiety cause it’s so relaxing to watch a nice cup of coffee being made
Thank you so very much for reviewing your Breville Express! I have been struggling to dial mine in since I purchased it a few weeks ago. I think I finally found happy ground now, but it is still great to here from a professional. Much love!
Got my machine used like you. Love it, although I’m not very good. Have the same distributor/tamper and it has really helped with consistency. I don’t use the hopper, but find it is better when I dose each shot of beans. Nice video!
I bought this machine a few months ago and just love it! I’ve also added a distributor and awesome dosing funnel and measure my beans to 16.5 g. I just discovered this channel and love her videos, along with James Hoffman and Hoon’s Coffee - Hoon also uses this machine and has detailed videos on use and care of the machine.

A scale is a must for consistency. I measure 17g in a double, and use a 1:2 ratio aiming to extract around pressure at 1 o'clock, 34g out between 26-34 seconds including the pre infusion. Produces a great shot, but the distribution is so important, far more than the tamp which I don't bother with.
I use this machine too! I love making coffee myself and love watching your content on KZread! The crema pro tamper is super useful. I've been getting better extractions lately
Thanks Morgan! This was a beautifully done video and helped me to feel much better about my espresso making skills. Also, I always watche the ads so you can get more money lol. Keep up the good work and great videos!!
This is the first KZread channel i really like thanks for doing all this videos
Hey Morgan really want to thank you for your videos, I am opening a bar soon and plan on using espresso to enhance the menu. Your videos are indispensable keep em coming!
I love seeing this. I just recently got this machine and I love seeing how others use it so I can build up my knowledge. I'm defo going to check out the link to the pitchers. I really need a good one. :)
Last night I dreamt of being your apprentice.Hahah, I asked you to show me how to use an espresso machine and how to pour a latte. Now I learned it.I love coffee and I'm really interested in Barista stuff. Please keep making videos and of course fun Tiktoks, love you!
Everyone drinks coffee differently, my opinion is that so long as you enjoy it, it doesn't matter how you make it or what you add to it. Morgan: thanks for your tips and the lightness of the channel, I really appreciate what you do and I'm sure many others do also. (For the record I'm still using a blade grinder and moka pot for mine, I typically use James' tips on how to make a blade grinder work for you. Milk wise I use a breville "the Milk Cafe" cause others in the house like hot chocolates and chais, it is super easy for that - My coffees far surpass what I can get from most cafes)
enjoy your videos and the great tips watching you and another coffee youtuber (Hoon's Coffee ) convinced me to take the dive !! so I did and ordered the breville barister express !!
Love your videos Morgan. Keep up the good work and informative vids. From us down under in New Zealand
I have the same coffee machine, which I bought 6 years ago and have been using it every day since then and I love it , you can get a better flavor if you preheat the portafilter and the basket with a single shot, nice tour by the way ☕

How does heating up the portafilter and basket help with flavor?
Great video, we have the Sage Barista Express which is basically the same machine with European branding. It’s an excellent machine and having the burr grinder built in is so convenient. I’ve had the machine for about 4 months and it’s dialed in nicely. Now all that’s left is finding tips and learning how to get better with latte art.😀
Thanks for linking that distributor/tamper! When I first bought this machine a couple of years ago (which has since been passed down to my mother), they didn't have too many accessories for the 54mm portafilters.

I am getting the sage touch machine. I am so excited and started following you and hope to become as good as you are 😻
Cool, love watching people pull shots and make various coffee drinks. Glad I found your channel. 😬
This video just gave me a flash of nostalgia due to the 2007ish tutorial vibe of it, even though it came out 2020. I love it.
Just found your channel and enjoy the videos, I also got a refurbished barista express for Christmas, best thing ever!
This is brilliant! Love your vids, I've learnt a lot since following you on your various accounts. 😃
Just brought this machine i'm so excited :D your videos have helped heaps
Your videos are fun, informative and wonderfully done. Thank you

I love your videos on tiktok and here :) I really like how you give options for people without espresso machines I've started making more interesting drinks than just regular coffee :D
I have a similar espresso machine from Breville and I really love it, to practice some espresso based drinks at home and to make great latte art too!
Super Great! Your reviews are always good because I know youre a long time in the barista business ;)
I have the same machine. Great choice. It does a great job at that price point! Thanks for sharing.
Just got a Breville Barista pro and I love it so far! Pulled some really nice shots and there are some great roasters in my city.

I've yet to get one that looks how I want it to, but I can do some vague leaf shapes haha. I had a look at your videos, try swirling the milk around while the pitcher is sitting on the bench (easier this way) the milk should kind of stick to the sides of the pitcher (I think!) I'd say if it doesn't you need to incorporate more air into the milk. Also I find it's easier to do with shorter, bowl-shaped cups.

Joshua Stevenson thanks will try
Morgan, thank you for doing these...I've learned a lot from you! Question: why did you decide to go with a different milk pitcher than the one that came with the machine? I'm getting deep into the practice of latte art and am wondering if a different pitcher might help my efficiency. Thanks!
I'm excited to get mine ! Thanks for the videos !
Awesome video! You can also use the pucks to compost if u have a garden!
"Don't mind my hair". Morgan. I wish I could have your wonderful hair💜
This is the machine I am getting so I kind of love it. Makes, me happy doing the stuff myself
I had this machine for 3 years, it's awesome, I highly recommend removing the hopper and get a single dose bellow hopper to eject any residue grounds after each grind, accurate dosing really improve the consistency. That's only upgrade I did and I still happy with it.
I must say you have a bubbly personality Morgan 😃✌🏻 because chuckling in between video is kind of hard 👍🏻 but the videos was fabulous as usual 👌🏻
I have to thank youtube for showing me your videos
Well this was just a delight 👏🏻
I feel like everything is right with the world when I watch your videos.
I don't even like drinking coffee, but I always loved watching baristas work 😅 somehow I find their work really elegant! I hope someday I come to enjoy the taste of coffee like I enjoy the smell of it or the sight of people making it ;u;

i'm proud of my self seeing you useing the same machine i use yayy
If you know someone who gardens you can save the used coffee grounds for them in the knock box. Used grounds is good for adding nutrients to soil!
I bought the older version just last week. i got it for 260 has a few issues but nothing that cant be fixed. Im already in love with it.
I bought this machine for my birthday. Love it
Cool, this is the coffee machine I’ve got at home, I’ve got a thermometer for my brewing temperature. Thank you for the review
As someone struggling to figure out their new home espresso machine, THANK YOU
Our 5 year old BBE’s grinder switch just died 😕. Trying to figure out how to get a replacement switch and repair it. But, just discovered your page and videos. Great stuff.! 👊
waiting for another video... watching this video for the 3rd time :) ily
Straight to the point I like that Great Job Thank You.

You know what my friend Morgan.. You are my motivation why I do love more coffee hahaha love you too.. Love your content.. Keep going.. Hope someday I'm going to taste your coffee, BTW I do love macchiato haha
Just started getting into the coffee world more and I’ve been enjoying learning things from your videos. What espresso machine would you recommend for a coffee push cart? Or what brands would you recommend? Thanks
Thank you for this I have been looking for a really good grinder and espresso machine combo at a value for money price that pulls good shots, and consistent grind for espresso. This maybe the one :D
I'm a cyclist and I looooove coffee especially your channel!
Hmm my girlfriend wants the Smeg coffee machine + smeg grinder. I prefer this one I think for quality. What to pick? Nice video btw! Your voice is amazing
That little giggle at the end~ haha
I love this coffee maschine. :D My first one was the Gastroback - well it is the same maschine with a different name - but it lasted 8 years of heavy duty coffee making :) But then it broke down of a pump issue. So lovely greetings from austria. By the way I love your fancy hair. :) But these days within the corona crisis we all have our own hairy issues, haha.
I am impressed with your enthusiam and the skill of your presentation. There is a huge learning curve in making perfect espresso. It took me a long time to be consistently acceptable. You didn't show the entire pull but I suspect it was way too fast. Just like the steaming process where you stated the need to slow down the process. I noticed that you had a wet puck when you put it in your knock box. This is not unusual as it plagues all baristas from time to time. I would suggest that you grind e finer and start counting the time when the first drop hits the cup. Typically the goal is to stop the shot between 25 and 35 seconds. Also, I tried the Barista oat milk and to my palate it affected the taste too much. As with anything it is what you get used to. I have subscribed to your videos and look forward to them.
I am in love, in each of your video😍
Great video. I bought the same machine more than one year ago in Germany. There it has a different brand name from a company called Gastroback. I especially like your barista oat milk. Haven‘t seen that in Germany yet. Definitely need to check it!

Found the barista oat or soy milk in the supermarket yesterday and tried it out this morning. Fantastic taste! 😊 I need more practicing on the right texture of the milk. I think the Breville is a little weak regarding the steam. 😅
Close to the heart is beautiful and creative
Loving your vids!
You had me at the Star Wars Posters 👍
I love your videos! Where did you get the mat for tamping/distributing?
Didn’t know the 2 in 1 tamp existed. Thanks!!!!
I like it so much ,good job!!! 👍
I love this job 😍🥰
Great descriptive video. Thx
I just found this video and you are wearing a button up… 😍 I love it! Not black turtleneck.
The barista express is fantastic. Got it on a discount and it punches way above its weight for it´s price!
Love all your videos,
Wow I remember your videos when you had a few thousand views (or was it hundreds) well done you.
a lot of your videos are very helpful.. i do have a question though.. how do you calibrate the heights of the distributor and tamp tool?
I enjoyed your video Morgan.
Awesome job 👏
Love it! Thanks!!!
Hi Morgan. Can you do a tutorial on how you choose grind size for the coffee? How do you decide the the amount of coffee (since you’re not using any scales). Thanks.
This made me want to buy an espresso machine ughhhhh.😭😭 still love it though!😂

Good advice is to invest in a brew scale with a built-in timer so that you can learn to tailor your shots based on weight and time rather than volumetrically.
Excelent video!
Hi Morgan! Question, how is the grinder quality on the Breville? I'm assuming it's good enough that you use it for espresso, but I'd still like your opinion on the grinder. Thanks!
This machine we use at my church's coffee cafe and it's a godsend. I've never been a barista before but the machine was so easy to use!

Haha "church" and "godsend"
Thank for the demo! Where do you get that cool mat from for the distributor etc to go on?
I just bought that machine, arrived this week and so far I'm diggin' it. I will say I am looking for a better milk jug because the one that came with the machine is super small and narrow. Thanks for the suggestions. Where did you get your apron from?
Thanks for another great video. Congratulations on getting your degree.
super cool ! I would love to have a setup like this but Im poor and generally I like to keep things small and practical, I'll probably just get an aeropress and maybe a cafe compresso in the future, they dont make proper espresso but its close enough for my likeing :)
I love this machine. It's definitely a great starter machine that is very capable of pulling good shots. The best thing, though, is that it allows you to step foot into the espresso world without having to invest >$2,000 for a decent setup, which you can always upgrade to later (although I will say that this machine coupled with a good grinder is the way to go). Overall, a great video for taking the mystique and stress out of at-home espresso!
Hello Morgan! I have a smeg espresso machine and was wondering do you have recommendations for a standalone coffee bean grinder and any additional equipment for tamping? Also, which setting number would you recommend for the grind size based on the grinder you recommend?
Morgan i use the breville barista touch and its really good
I have Bialetti and I make my coffee with that. Recently, I got a grinder too, but I don't know the appropriate size of grinding. Can you make a video explaining the right size of the grind?
