Yep, most decor in our home I have thrifted. I’m like you-wood, baskets, pottery, tray pieces. Probably 75% of the pieces I have thrifted I have painted or redone on some way to fit our decor. Much of my holiday decor is thrifted as well. And a Senior citizen discount of 30% off on Wednesday helps too 😉

The two compartment dish is also a great idea to put pistachios in. One side for the pistachios, the other side for the empty shells!

Hi Kristin I hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! My name is Mary and I’m 73 years old. So I come from an era where we had crocheted doilies. I was watching you today using a blue placemat to make a Fluted shape. You used mod podge and water. But if you want to really do it right use starch, old fashion starch. And that’s how we got our shapes without doilies. I hope you try it.

I'm always on the lookout for sturdy furniture (including "homemade"). No problem making minor repairs and refinishing or painting, as long as the piece is basically in good shape. A second-hand bookcase or chest of drawers is great storage anywhere, even the garage.

I had two of the identical lamps I had since the 80's!!! Mine were (and still are) in pristine condition as I gave them to a bachelor friend of mine a few yrs. ago. He just loves them, and says he gets compliments after compliments on them. He placed them in his living room. His color palette is a lot of black - black leather sofa, etc., and wood. These lamps look gorgeous in his set up.

I love thrifting for crystal glassware and bowls…. I am a traditionalist and I don’t care if the glasses and dishes don’t match…. I just love finding expensive, heavy crystal for a thrifting price! I taught my kids that, “Any fool can pay full retail!”

The one flower bouquet oil painting in the gold frame could’ve been worth a LOT! Never pass up stuff like that!

Was an avid thrift/consignment shopper for decades. During many years of corporate work, the bulk of my wardrobe was secondhand. But ultimate finds were handmade or ready-made sweaters I could take apart, harvest the yarn to use on my own knit or crochet designs. Also liked to nab sturdy bed sheets (lots of yardage for cheap!) which were re-made into bathrobes, lounge pants, shirts, etc. One of my ultimate projects was replicating the look of the Pottery Barn Flax/Linen quilt....which runs about $300....using a creamy brushed cotton sateen for roughly $3, plus the time spent drawing and sewing all the quilting. Sadly, after years of daily use, it's starting to look bit shabby...and now beyond repair.

“One person’s trash is another person’s treasure” definitely rings true at the thrift store!! You found some great items! 🤩❤️

My favorite items to thrift are home decor, lamps, bookends, pottery, frames and books. Always a treasure hunt.

I love thrifting my Aunt took me one time and I been hooked every since 😊..I found 2 vintage lamps for 10 bucks the bottom have a globe etched design and they have night lights in them ..I cleaned them up and changed the hideous shades..they look so good ❤ I use every technique you suggested 😉

I have been thrifting for over 25 years but you have given me so much ideas to work with and things to look for the next time that I go to a thrift store. The craziest thing is that I get excited about thrift store shopping more than when I go into the other stores.

Wow the painting in that rediculously gorgeous frame at 10.56 is to die for!!!!!! Such a beauty!

I love looking at the books and seeing what’s under the covers to reveal the linen! My most resent thrift find was a jumpsuit and a shirt for my fiancé! Only a few dollars each. I normally don’t look at the clothing but this day I did and got the best bargain! 🙌🏻

I adore thrifting books. Not for decor, but for finding interesting new things to read. Also love thrifting mugs - I've found a few vintage tourism mugs like a pretty 30+ year old Banff travel mug.

Oh my god the bowls are PERFECT! I love thrifting ceramics, I have all blue ceramics in my kitchen so when I pick up blue bowls, plates, or mugs here and there and it all fits in my colour scheme. And tbh I love the mix and match look on my table

I always look for something for my sewing as fabrics, buttons and so on, but also books, clothing for me and my family or things I can fresh up, DIY is a passion. Baskets I look for, but dont buy to many, becouse lack of space.

I also love to look for ceramics.

Thrifting books and removing the paper cover is one of my favourite things to do. I also always b line it to the pottery section where they have all the hand made pottery pieces. And lamps! Pretty much all home goods, let's be real 😆 I don't have a large vehicle so I don't often get furniture but if something is really worth it I will get it and pay a delivery person. I got an amazing pencil reed dresser for $50 (they sell online for thousands) and it's still my most unique favourite piece of furniture I have in my place.

Hi Kristen, thank you so much for all your fabulous videos, you're really awesome and I appreciate all your wonderful home decor ideas. The problem with thrift shop shopping for me is I'm afraid of bugs and their eggs that you pretty much can't see them because they are so tiny, all sorts. I wash every single thing I buy when I get home but I don't trust second hand stores any more ever since I had a bug infestation and again, I wash everything thoroughly but sometimes no matter how much you wash things, they just don't won't die. Thrift shop, second hand stores, Salvation Army stores, flea markets, stoop sales, I'm afraid of all of them and mind you, staff at these stores are suppose to clean and disinfect the items that they resell to the public but some places just don't take the time to clean them or bug proof them. Especially pillows and fabric items, wood etc. But thank you for the idea and you really were blessed with the items you found. Thank you again for sharing, and again, you're so amazing and inspirational. Keep them coming please! :) Happy Thanksgiving!!

The only suggestion for the brass lamp or any 'antique' style would be to use an Edison-style bulb just to keep in style of the lamp you're putting it in. I also don't buy any 'fabric' items second-hand that I can't run through the washer/dryer just because you don't know who's been using it before you got it. I love thrift shopping, actually more than going to rummage sales, everything is in one place without driving around as much ;) We lost our Savers store a few years ago here in Madison & I still miss it... I got so many good deals in there, including brand new Levi jeans, my favorite style & in my size, store tags still on them, one pair was $12. & another for $7., happy day for me ;)

I like finding storage containers, candle holders and vases/pottery at the thrift store. I would buy frames, baskets and lots of other things at our local thrift stored, but ours is always pretty well picked over. People don't donate nicer things here it seams. I actually enjoy thrifting more when we go out of town.

Happy Monday! I just found an awesome thrift store! Scored a modern handmade glass water pitcher for 2 bucks, a hand blown, small glass serving piece for 3 bucks and several wine glasses dirt cheap. Also found a massive mirror for 16.00. Loved the thrift shop.

Love your videos! I’ve been thrifting my entire life. I recently scored two ugly orange lamps for $4 that were good dupes of a Pottery Barn lamp that goes for $300. After some much needed spray paint and new shades, they look amazing. I get lots of compliments. I love that you style your finds because that’s where I have trouble.

I have found great art at thrift stores, I have even successfully painted the mats and they look great.

Love your Style Kristen! Your house is looking amazing. Needed a monitor stand. I was currently using stacks of dictionaries to get it to the right height. I went thrifting and I found the perfect stand that was hand made by a skilled woodworker. It has shelves for paper, stapler and even an in basket! It was only 9 dollars for a solid wood piece that matches the wood tones in the room. I was thrilled. There is nothing like going on a treasure hunt and coming home with the perfect treasures. I usually vacuum any baskets that I get at yard sales or thrift shops. You found some great items this time around.

I love thrifting! Those were some great finds and good ideas. I just want to caution about taking home textiles from thrift stores. Make sure you wash them. There is a chance they might have bed bugs. This happened to a friend of mine and it was a disaster.

Only complaint - never seems long enough. Always enjoy watching so much.

Seriously cannot get enough of thrifting!! I do the book trick ALLLLLLLLLL the time!!

I have white speckled bowls almost exactly like those shown that I bought in Soufflenheim, France when we lived in Germany, and they were definitely more costly than what you paid. Great bargain and I think they’re so rustic and sturdy looking. I love thrift shopping, as well. You’d really love the thrift stores in France.
