Good presentation. I have been using this Fire TV app and Home Assistant integration for over a year and it is great. I use it for caller ID on our landline (we live in a rural area in the US and cellular can be a bit unreliable so we kept our landline). When we quit Dish Network caller ID on the TV was a feature my wife and I missed. Every time the phone rang we both looked at the TV and nothing... I added a cheap USB modem to my Home Assistant and created an automation to display the caller ID on all of our Fire TV sticks. We also have a driveway alarm I integrated with HA using an ESP 8266 and a camera pointed at our driveway. When the alarm goes off I trigger the camera to take a picture and display it on the TV. Keep up the good work.

I have the same type of thing working with my security cameras, but well done getting it working with ESP8266. Amazing platform that I’ll be putting some videos out shortly. Keep up the great work and pls share your project ideas so we can all come in the journey.

Yes it would be nice to see more information about the web os integration.

Hi @bobbyebenson7305, very much depends on the destination device, but as an example iOS can support a video stream, check out shorturl.ac/7cnag. I hope that helps.

good post, I have been trying to figure out how to send notifications on Samsung TV's for a while now, to no avail ... any ideas?

Depends on the TV and the year and model. If it’s based on an Android OS then the standard notifications for android TV should be the trick. Check my video from 2 weeks ago and follow those instructions. If that doesn’t work let me know and I’ll find you the instructions for your specific tv.

Mine says "Notifications for Android TV by Christian Fees isn't available on Google Play on this device. I'm assuming that's because I have an Android TV and not a Fire TV? My TV's settings UI looks a bit different from yours...

Are you trying to load direct from the Play Store or side loading as per the video? Also what make and model TV is it ?

I do the same except with a ROKU TV device. Works pretty much the same as yours does except the ROKU doesn't restrict you as much as the fire tv does as amazon has rivals that they do not support. ROKU is support by HA.

@@smart_home_australia Yes it is out of the box install and has SO many supported apps it makes fire stick/TV look like they hardly support anything. I can't remember the last time i hooked up the fire tv stick as roku even has a amazon supported app 😁

@@frankmthompson Send notifications? No, But i do send commands. For example if my nest doorbell camera sees a person, i have my roku ultra box pause playback if we are streaming something on it. Also i have it doing the same thing if one of our smartphones gets a call. This is done via the roku integration under devices and services. Then when creating an action i use call service then media player pause then pick your roku device as the entity. Hope this helps.

Good context, but the begging "subscribe" is very nagging. And the face of the talking guy is useless. Sorry, but that's a downvote.

Yep. Sorry about that. One of my first videos. Subscribes kept to a minimum, but that annoying talking guy is still there 😏

First time viewer. The subscribe animation is annoying and incredibly distracting. Couldn't finish watching. Earned you a thumbs down.

Thanks for the feedback, this was noted from a long time subscriber so we changed the production process so that the subscribe animation is kept to a minimum. Sorry for the distraction and hopefully later video are of a higher standard.
