After snarky youth Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) loses track of his father at the airport, he mistakenly gets on a plane headed for New York City -- while the rest of the McCallisters fly to Florida. Now alone in the Big Apple, Kevin cons his way into a room at the Plaza Hotel and begins his usual antics. But when Kevin discovers that the Sticky Bandits (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) are on the loose, he struggles to stop them from robbing an elderly man's toy store just before Christmas.

I forget who said it, but somebody said that the second one is better because the stakes are higher. Kevin isn't defending his own house this time, he doesn't have neighbors or anything to back him up just in case, like he does back in Chicago, and New York City has a "gritty" vibe to it anyway. Plus, Harry and Marv already know what he looks like. Also, fairly or not, I argue he gets *himself* lost this time rather than his parents, by being so obsessed with the batteries for his Talkboy. So, he has much more to lose in the second one.

In case you're unaware, the Pigeon Lady is played by Irish actress Brenda Fricker, who won the Academy Award a couple years prior to this movie for playing Daniel Day-Lewis' mother in "My Left Foot". As is tradition at the Academy, she presented her future "Home Alone 2" co-star Joe Pesci with his Oscar the following year for "Goodfellas", where he famously just said, "It's my privilege, thank you" and walked offstage.

Interesting fact about the Trump cameo: he only shows up because at the time, he owned the Plaza, and he has a stipulation that if someone is going to film on his properties, he has to make a cameo. Typically when filmmakers agree to this, they usually film the cameo and conveniently come up with a reason to take it out. This time they legitimately forgot.

I'm sure you know this by now, but Kevin's brother, Fuller, is played by Macaulay Culkin's actual brother. Anyway, this was a terrific sequel. The third film is unrelated because it feels like an unnecessary reboot. 4 and 5 are the continuation of Kevin's story. Home alone 2 is better than the first for me it’s what every sequel should be it’s basically the same movie but x10 and I love it. My favorite scene is when that lady knocks out Marv & Harry she has crazy strength it cracks me up and the little nod she gives to Kevin afterward is the cherry on top

Kevin's dad had no right to get mad at Kevin for the money he spent on room service. He literally lost his kid for the 2nd Christmas in a row. He should be grateful he's not in jail for child negligence.

When my oldest was just a little girl, she was watching this movie, and she'd gotten to the age where everything and everyone had to have a name. I was talking to my sister and DD kept asking me what the pigeon lady's name was. Of course, she's never named, but this wasn't an acceptable answer to her. Finally, I got mildly exasperated and snapped, "Bird Poo Annie!!" DD found this hilarious (and didn't seem to realize I just made it up), and from then on that's what she called PL!

9 Harry's and 14 Marvs and required to finish Home Alone 1 and 2. This movie alone, each brick to the head is a kill shot, The bag of wrenches to the head, The Toilet Explosion, the Electrocution, the bag of cement, Marv's 2 story fall on his face, the pipe to the face, being crushed by that pipe, the 3 story fall at the end, and getting hit by the varnish cans after that fall. All death moments

"Gotta kind of love Marv" There was going to be a spinoff film about Marv actually a becoming an unlikely hero, but it was rewritten as an original story but still has Daniel Stern in the lead it's called "Bushwhacked" (1994) it would be fun to Tim and Clariss react to that 🤣

There is a movie in theaters right now called violent night. It's labeled as "die hard meets home alone" (it's because they make a bunch of home alone references plus there is a small segment where she is being pursued by bad guys and she sets some pretty gory traps for them

Honestly, every time I watch these movies I think of that old saying. “If you fool me once, shame on you. If you fool me twice, shame on me.” In the first movie, Kevin was left at home because his family wasn’t paying attention. In the second, he ended up in the wrong city because HE wasn’t paying attention. In the first movie, the family were all being mean to Kevin. In the second, he was being mean to them. Granted Buzz had no right to act the way he did but it was HIS fault, not the family’s.

Incredible well done and I love to reaction. I can’t wait to see more of your reactions. Keep on being amazing.

There’s a video out there. Someone did a “kill count” of sorts where they cataloged their injuries and said if they were fatal or non-fatal. Between these two movies I think they said it would take 14 Marv’s and 9 Harry’s to survive the films.

Everyone say that Kevin become a sadist in sequel, but on my opinion is that just because a Home Alone 2 is more "cartoonish" than the original. Actually not only this count to traps for bandits: gags, sound effects, characters (mainly the hotel consieour). It's like a old Looney Tunes or Animaniacs, but it's a real world. The original movie is more realistic. But actually this is not bad things for me: I like a both movies equally. I wouldn't say that sequel is bad. It's just different and I like it for that.

Thank you so much for this reaction Tim and Clariss! This is by far my absolute favorite Home Alone film out of the entire franchise! Again if you would’ve chosen to continued I would’ve just recommended the third film just for the entertainment and the sixth film for the callbacks to the first 2 films. If you wish, Daniel Stern has another film called Bushwhacked which is hilarious as well as the Home Alone films. Another amazing family comedy about kids kicking adults butts is the 3 Ninjas franchise which I highly recommend! 🧑🏼👨🏻‍🦲👨🏻‍🦱👩🏻‍🦰👵🏻 🏠✌️✈️🗽 💙💛❤️🤍

I like this movie slightly more than the original as the stakes seem higher due to the unknown environment of New York and I think the “pigeon lady” is a more emotional & interesting character than the “shovel slayer” so that part hits harder in the sequel. It’s not nearly as good yet I think an exception could be made for Home Alone 3 as I am one of the rare ones who enjoys it. While Kevin’s replacement isn’t as likable the traps are still hilarious and I also kinda like the criminals in the 3rd movie. They’re no Harry & Marv yet they’re… interesting.

Hey, did you notice this movie mistake? In the original "Home Alone", Kevin is 8 years old. "Lost in New York" takes place one year after the previous film's events, but somehow Kevin is 10. It's mathematically impossible for Kevin to jump from 8 years old to 10 years old in only one year, even if his birthday falls around Christmas time.
