I love how this video ended with Aaron Rodgers saying to Brett Favre “Put er in the ol vice”.

The toughest quarterback to ever play the game. Nobody and I mean nobody can take a hit like this guy. Not rodgers, not montana, not manning, not brady, not brees, not marino. No quarterback in NFL history could take a sack like this guy and still get back up week after week. This man dealt with the saints bountygate incident and still got back up after every hit. His quarterback toughness was genuinely ridiculous and will always be unparalleled.

Steve Young was pretty tough. Montana was tough to and played with broken ribs. I have seen those guys take hits and still play.

I grew up watching Bart Starr play. I even learned to hold and throw the football the way he did. When he retired the light went out in Green Bay and didn’t turn on again until Brett Favre arrived. I remember watching the Cincinnati vs Green Bay game when Brett threw the winning touchdown on a rope and thinking I had never seen such a throw. Seeing Bart Starr walking out to greet Brett that special Thanksgiving brought tears to my eyes and made me realize how much the Green Bay Packers have a part of my sixty seven years. I know this video is dated and everyone has moved on, but I am happy this video is here to take it out from time to time and remember where we journeyed together.

very nice sentiments, Sir. Respect. I was born in WI in 1971, and named after Lombardi. A fond memory I have is Don Majowski in 89 (or 90?) leading the Pack back to relevance and winning, and challenging Montana for the NFC MVP in the process. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be for the Majic Man. Fate seemed utterly cruel when he damaged his shoulder the following season. And then, the rest was history..

His and Peytons retirements made me tear up, so many of the greats I’ve watched and grew up idolizing are putting their cleats away for the last time. The old gunslinger will never be forgotten he is one of the greatest to ever play the game.

His actual retirement, as a die hard football fan and a living football encyclopedia I could tell those first ones weren’t real you could’ve realized from his body language plus it’s Favre he was the ultimate Ironman who played like we all did in our backyards he just had fun. Yes I know Drew is gone we still Tom, Aaron, and Big Ben who respectively have been in the league only 3 and 4 years less than Tom.

The irony is that Aaron Rodgers is following in the footsteps of Favre at almost the exact same point in his career. All the way down to the Packers drafting a replacement in the 1st round and Rodgers putting on circus displays in the offseason, the chances of him leaving. If Rodgers went to the Bears or Lions or something, it would not surprise me on bit at all. Favre may have not tried to mentor him at all, but Rodgers has picked it up through osmosis.

Umm during the video when "Packer Fans" saying we want Brett an they was more or less saying Rodgers wasn't any good without giving him a chance an umm Favre started it between himself an the Packers front office one day he's retired then the next day he changed his mind an then he got his feelings hurt when the front office said u have to earn ur starting spot well he knew deep down that it was time for Rodgers to take over

Aaron Rodgers is certainly one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in my opinion. I believe if he can’t win the Super Bowl at Green Bay that he will move to another team in an effort to win the Super Bowl there. I would definitely like to see him win at Green Bay. But either way, I want to see him get that ring!

I'll never forget the game after his dad died. I'm a diehard Cowboy, and Brett was awesome to watch.

I just love the guy. Loved in Wisconsin my whole life. 45. He is what made me excited from day to day when times sucked on the job or family was a pain in the ass (rightfully so), but I sure looked forward to seeing my PACK come Sunday and because of Brett we were able to feel that way. Thank you Brett Favre. #4 forever

I was at the return home at Lambeau. Sat out there in a brutally hot stadium just to watch him come out and wave to the crowd and say a few words. It was well worth it. It will always be a special moment for me for the rest of my life.

This man, and along with Reggie white, took a team from the absolute dumpster and made it iconic again. No one wanted to play in Green Bay. He Reggie and Ron wolf made it cool to play here again. I'm a born and raised Texan...Texan through and through, but NOBODY will replace my favorite football player of all time, Brett Favre. I've been to Lambeau Field one time, took my entire family there in 2019 to watch the Packers beat "Da Bears" in 13 degree weather. As spiritual of an event that was for us, it could only have been topped by watching Brett play instead of Aaron (no disrespect to Aaron). Brett Favre did for football, what Muhammad Ali did for boxing, what Tiger Woods did for golf, and what Michael Jordon did for basketball. Brett will forever be a packer, and I will forever be a Favre fan.

Favre = Packers, Montana = 49er, Manning = Colts, Brady = Patriots, Rivers = Chargers Edit: Meant to say QBs that leave their original team after long success, will be remember where they first played. That's why I didn't add Roethlisberger, Eli, Brees, Mario, Aikman, Elway. They all played for one team.

He always gave his all when he played. Greenbay was lucky to have what he did. I've been a Packe r fan virtually my whole life, and I got to cheer the last four for five years of the great Lombardi teams. My big secret is I'm a native Texan! To watch Bret Farve play was so much fun because he had so much fun doing it. He was a credit to football, and he just want to play as long as he could. Thank you Green bay fans for giving him a hug in the end.

Brett was the man in GREENBAY

I remember as a Giants fan in 07, our OT win against Favre and the Packers in the NFC Championship was great for me personally(we got a championship in New York because of it) but also a little bittersweet for football as a whole. You knew it was likely the end for Favre, at least as a Packer. I mean the speculation and stuff was already raging, after missing the playoffs two years in a row prior to 07, having an excellent prospect in Rodgers waiting for his opportunity behind him,his age and inconsistency, the whole 9 yards. I was not surprised to see him announce his retirement a couple months later after that loss. I didn't blame him at all. I didn't expect him to change his mind and goto a bitter division rival like Minnesota, but football was everything to Brett and it was obvious. And while many of the Packer faithful hated him for it, the fact is he came back and wanted to play again, the Packers were his first choice. Management declined, and wouldn't release his contract. Brett felt a certain way about that and wanted to stick it to them by playing for a division rival. Was ego involved? Definitely. Every QB in the NFL has an ego. And Favre earned the right to have his, as a future HOFer and super bowl champion. As a Giants fan, I was ecstatic to beat him. As a football fan, it was bittersweet because the guy is a legend. A household name, even non-football fans have heard of Brett Favre. You wanted to see him go out on top. You just want the best for a guy like that who has given so much to the sport of football and to so many fans around the world.

Correct .. an aging still viable player presents difficult waters to navigate. The wrong moves to make in that situation are bitterness, anger. Farve played for Green Bay for more years than Jr. High, High School, and College combined. Appreciate your Packer Family member for the 15 years he gave to you. If he wants to play beyond that let him do so without resentment.

I was raised in Chicago and am a DIEHARD bears fan. It was hard watching him beat up on us but I respect him so much and he’s become my favorite quarterback of all time. So much more class than Rodgers and way more humble. Says a lot if you’re own family doesn’t talk to you.. and as a recovering addict I respect him and relate even more.

1st.. I'm a lifelong New England Patriots fan. In 96, when Brett and the Packers (with a lot of help from Desmond Howard) outdooled our gunslinger, Drew Bledsoe in 1996.. it stung. After the pain went away I knew I'd always had a soft spot for #4 and if my team had to lose the Super Bowl to anyone I'd want it to be him. Brett Favre played football like it should be played. With all of the joy of a reckless child. There was NOTHING that man couldn't do with the football, even when he ACTUALLY COULDN'T do it! 😂 What can I say? I love Brett Favre. What a joy and a privilege it was to watch him play. That's exactly what he did in front of all of us. He joyfully played. He played as hard as he could until the wheels fell literally off. I mean, what the hell else could we have ever asked for? Thanks Brett.Forever #4

When I as a Brit picked an NFL team to follow in 1980 the Pack we're garbage , but I loved the history and the small-town team. Brett was amazing and helped transform the organization . 40 years later I still love my Packers , one day I'l get to Lambeau....respect ..

He also wanted to play for Minnesota just so he'd have the opportunity twice a season to beat the Pack. He felt the Packers treated him badly by not rolling out the red carpet for him when he unretired for the third or fourth time. This was after they had visited him at his home to try to get him to come back and he had said no. He was a selfish spoiled child. And a traitor. And the crap he pulled on his wife and Jenn Sterger still counts against his character. When someone shows very poor character it should not be tolerated just because that someone can throw a football.

Amazed to see how few jerseys have been retired with the Packers. Love that they are stingy that way:). As a Bears fan, I’m fine with admitting that as easy as it has always been to hate the Packers, it was always hard to hate Brett Favre. Green Bay is blessed to have had him. Fun guy to watch play.

Brett made the game fun to watch and there was no one in the NFL that had that quality, yes he was a gunslinger and the best in the NFL at that and historically I don't think there was anyone better at it. I started watching the game again just to see him play and I've been a Packers fan for 60 years. Very fortunate to have Aaron Rodgers follow him up, went from gunslinging to precision sharpshooter. In 29 years only two quarterbacks, no one can say that besides GB.

I was disappointed when he left to go to Minnesota but he belong on that wall with the rest of the great players we have in the stadium. You gave us hope when Magic went down. For that I thank you we started dominating again !!!
