Holzfforma G660 92cc chainsaw. What has gone bad after 6 months of use.

Just a new guy trying to get the hang of videos with limited video equipment and limited knowledge of the video equipment. This video was not a full review. Just the things that have gone wrong with my saw after 6 months of use.Yes it has only had 8 to 12 tanks of fuel through it. It is running better now than it did when it was new. A full review is coming along with reviews on other saws. I have a few saws on hand that need repairs. So hopefully we will be able to cover those in upcoming videos. Any questions drop it in the comments and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Since this video was made my videos have got better. Check out some of my other videos. Make sure to subscribe it doesn't cost you a thing.

I bought a G372 and the little Joncutter puppy. The 372 has 50+ tanks through it and it hasn't given me many issues aside from hard starting during break in, the compression release doesn't help so I've learned it's better to start without it.. The muffler bolts like to rattle loose, so they need high temp Loctite. The muffler came wide open, not restricted, and it even had a little pipe coming off of it. It's wearing a 28" bar and has plenty of power in two foot Ponderosa Pine. The Joncutter has easily 100 tanks through it, as I'm a Chainsaw Carver and it has run like a top. I really like the little guy. I also want to say that the Chinese chain is phenomenal, I just don't know how it holds an edge like it does. Frankly, I wasn't expecting these results, I was afraid the saws would blow up,in no time, but so far so good, even running standard 91 Octane, which in California has ethanol.

Nice video. Have about 25-30 tanks through the 660. Think I'm going to go over all the bolts as a safety check. 10-12 of the tanks were milling hickory and maple logs. So far so good. Recoil start is a little sloppy, and once in a while she seems to flood on first start. Almost think fuel is getting into carb when on its side filling it up. Again good presentation well done!

Never have any problems at all. My saw cuts hardwood soft wood exactly the same doesn't make a difference. Just bought a new stihl combo file and the chains like new everytime I sharpen it.

Good video. I have used the G660 for board splitting. 30 liter gas so far I guess. I like it. I have used 3% oil on it. Its heavy work with the splitting. I have leaned it out for more speed.. Its dangerous and must be done with care. That allso dratically reduces lubrication and increases heat.. I just got the muffler gasket issue, Repaired it with exhaust gum. The exhaust came loose. That seem like a common problem? I guess my increased rpm might have caused more vibrations, I might reduse RPM again. The specs says 13500rpm, but I doubt thats wise? I will adjust with a thaco next time to find out. So far the piston and cylinder looks good. I have a fix in mind for the exhaust if this problem persist. I think about long bolts in tubes inside the muffler. That can allow some stretch to the bolts. I made a cut inside the muffler, but doubt that mod. I guess people belive in it because it makes the engine a bit leaner? And a bit louder? Its better to adjust on the carb if you want more performance. I run cheap food oil with 10-20% mineral in it and max setting on the chain oil pump. Sword and chain looks fine. I have the 24 alaskan mill from hutzel. It work great. I have a 25 inch bar. Standard angle chain. It was very easy to change the angles on the standard chain. The hutzel looks like very good value for money. But you should have an ear for the engine sound, and know what you are doing. Best regards Halvor from Norway.

An honest vijayo. Warms my old heart. Suggestion. My newest saw, circa 1990's, drinks 70-1 amsoil ethanol free as does all the others in the fleet. Cut starting & running problems in half. Mechanical another story. You will find that less oil makes for longer life. Counterintuitive, but with me, true. 2 cents worth. Thanks

Vero, i motori dovrebbero girare con la minima quantità di olio possibile, prima di grippare: con gli olii sintetici si puo miscelare all'1%, quindi in teoria gia 50:1 non è poco

@@billbrown5853Synthetic vs conventional 2 cycle is an apples to oranges comparison. I use 2 cycle fuel daily. IMO if you're not willing to run a leaner ratio than 50:1 you're wasting your time and money with synthetic. It's harder to start, runs poorly, carbons up, fouls spark plugs quickly, floods easily. Best I've used is Amsoil Saber at 100:1. Gives me years of easy starts without changing spark plugs or fuel filters.

Just a suggestion for cinematography, I would take a look at tractor check channel and pattern your videos after him. I bought a Holzfforma G660 a couple months ago. Cut a couple cords of firewood with it and was on about my 7th tank of fuel. Still running a rich break in mix. Saw ran great right out of the box and I was liking it. Then it suddenly seized last week. I was curious and took it apart myself. The piston pin retaining clip broke and came out trashing the top end . The advertisement said 1 year warranty so I e-mailed Hutzl/Farmertec. I took the saw apart so I assume that kinda messes up the warranty? So far in corresponding and sending pictures to a representative from Hutzl/Farmertec, they told me they'd send me a new cylinder kit so I can repair it myself. A new cylinder kit and they'd also give me 300 points credit on my next purchase. Come to find out 300 points is only $3.00 US, and the cylinder kit only costs $23 on their website. A credit point of their's is only .01 cent. So $27.00 is what they give me and I spend 4 hours time with all the bullcrap this thing is pitting me through?Pretty shoddy if you ask me. I doubt there will be any more purchases from them. I'm still in negotiation with them, but my new cylinder kit still hasn't been sent. I should have just put the saw back together and requested a full refund and return. If they can't even temper a circlip right and it snaps in use, what other kind of pig iron is this thing made of? Think twice before wasting your money on this chinese crap.

I finally got my cylinder kit delivered the other day as my warranty claim for the wrist pin clip failing and trashing the top end. The kit did NOT come with a base gasket and an e-mail sent to my seller was replied with "that gasket doesn't come with the kit." So I'm on my own for ordering the $1 gasket, but it will take a couple more weeks probably to recieve. I bought this saw from an Ebay seller called Devonosion, who claims to be a representative of a Farmertec Ebay store. But either way he was unwilling to send me the gasket, even though I am willing to fix this saw myself instead of returning the whole thing under their supposed 1 year warranty. When I get this thing going I will send updates as to what breaks next. I am also going to start my own channel for long term reviews of these saws. I had bought a G660, a G388, and 2 Husky 372XP clones. I bought the 372xp's as kits and just put my first one together but haven't tried it yet.

Not trying to sound like an a@% asking this but you got good fuel? If so start with spark and see if you got that. Easiest way to check. Pull the spark out. Put it back in the coil. Hold it against the cylinder. Give it a decent pull. May have a bad coil or spark plug. If you have spark. Move on to fuel. With the air cleaner off. Pour about a teaspoon of gas through the carb. Then try firing it up. If it wants to fire you may have a pinched or broken fuel line.

James Smith hey, have you checked it is or isn’t getting fuel ? The chances of it having no spark from the factory is very very slim ! These saws have electronic ignition not points too. My checks would be fuel or no fuel at the plug, spark ? If it’s getting spark and fuel but won’t fire it’s likely flooded, check the choke isn’t sticking. Very hard to diagnose over the interskreen but If it hasn’t fired it can’t be a major failure

288, 66, 162 and other old Husqvarna saws are seriously underpowered. Going back further in time to the Jonsered 621... just 56cc... but it pulls as hard and harder than anything but a few pro saws on the market today in that class. Poulan had the 5400 4000 3400 antivibe generation that were Excellent as well. McCullough had power to spare as did some olympiks and partner saws. Echo had some reliable models especially their John deere versions. Now I do love the ms 462 and the 500i is incredible. Husqvarna has had some misfires but the 395xp 372xp are among the best ever and a couple 5 series show promise. I just can't understand dismissing a tool because it's 30 or more years old. But it keeps the prices down on the old saws so that is great. I can't buy $1600 saws every time one goes down... many folks have way more saw than they need but can't sharpen a chain or tune a saw. If they could, they likely would find out a 55 Rancher or 61 white top at $250 max can do a great job and the $1.2k 576xp is overkill.

I shouldn't have said it that way. I would buy another but at this point in time I don't need a 2nd one. Much rather go with the g444 and the g111. The saw it's self is great. Just check all bolts, screws and the 2 nuts that hold the air filter base in place.

My 2 cents . I own a few china dolls , over time I have replaced parts here and there . i have a few OEM saws also . I’ve been cutting wood for manny years now . They can clone these saws just like what you buy at the OEM dealers shop . Same damn saw , maybe a little better . I’m not a fan of them really , but they work , depending on how you take care of your equipment post work I think is the key to longevity in any saw . But yeah I said it it’s the same as an OEM .

I added a like for you, because, well, ... it seems like you’re trying,...& at the very least it seems that you indicated this was yer first video. But did you honestly review and listen to yourself given the title of the video? & Listen, i’m Not trying to cut you down. Perhaps you were nervous, but you have so much extra “chit chat” that doesn’t allow the listener to get, “the Bigger Picture” with the 660. -: for instance,-Will the 660 leak fuel? Will the 660 rattle off the bar? Does the 660 allow for good lube flow over the course of let’s say 3 straight hours of prepping 2&1/2 foot diameter chunks? Does the 660’s clutch seem like it’s up to the task? Etc... With all saws, yes, shit is gonna rattle loose. We understand that. But, How is the saw after 6 months? What are the oddities you experienced. You say there are some but don’t get into it really. Yes, you did show that linkage rubbing. That was good. I’m thinking of buying this saw, but still need info, for which you only scratched the surface.

Pop open "the exhaust" - there's nothing inside. It's just a pretendey exhaust. Pop off the pull-start - it's just a pretendey pull-start. Then dive into the carb - the carbs rougher than any bears behind - even the roughest bear with the roughest behind. The jets are machined using a machete. First hint is how crap the pull-start handle is - it's majorly crap. Your knot will pull through - use a washer.. if you can still be bothered. 'cos they're chunk. Utter muck. Every time I pick the POS up, I regret it.
