Haha yeah. I remember in 2013 i went to the new Sam ash store in NYC which had Frank Bello and David Ellefson in the event. I was trying to find the line for the autographs then suddenly a guy patted my back gently saying "excuse me sir" im like sure turned around almost freak out because that was David Ellefson who patted my back 😂

I live up the block from this bar. That night I was walking home from work and I saw a big crowd of people outside but I didn't think too much of it. Bands are always playing there so there's always people loitering outside in between sets. Found out the next day that it was fucking megadeth and I was furious with myself

I'm glad Metallica kicked him out, we'd never have had Mustane's music.

@@vagdirts2891 based on Jason's experience, the creative side was majority James and Lars and screw you if you think otherwise. That's why he left.

I cant get over how fast they play those fills in the main riff. They're like on another level of speed. Megadeth is like the perfect example of Metal.

This tuning makes this song sound a lot different. Especially the solos

I think it was a change that made because after Dave's neck surgery it's been harder for him to sing in the key of E so they tuned to D standard I think

2:49 One of the best guitar metal riffs ever. Legendary!

What other band stops half way through their song to thank the audience and introduce new band members whilst also singing with throat cancer. And this is why Megadeth will forever reign supreme

I dusted this one off and gave it a listen after not hearing it in many years. Was recently going down the Anthrax 40th vids, and this popped into my recommended vids. Such a great version, so tight, after all these years. Was lucky enough to catch them back in the spring of 1993.

This drummer. Holy fuck. Great recording of this tune

Dirk and Nick are the tightest drummers to play for Megadeth. I love that Dirk plays Nick's parts exactly the way Nick recorded them. Great respect.

Dave may not be the singer he once was and that's okay. He beat throat cancer... Regardless, the real reason people listen to megadeth is the musicianship and that's still there which is incredibly impressive for their age. I remember I read once about it and Dave was talking about how bringing in new blood always encourages him to keep up with their talents and abiltiies. This is showcased on dystopia because Dave uses some bizarre (I say bizarre but not really that bizarre) scales on some of the solos. Nothing mind-bending, but he went out his comfort zone and mimicked kiko on some of the songs. I'll have to go back to it and listen and point out the singles, but they're there. I'd be listening and think... wait, that's Dave and not Kiko!? Megadeth... best band ever.

Funny thing is, apparently deaf people going to metal shows is a thing. They like being able to feel the rhythms, and big shows often have sign-language interpreters so that they can understand the lyrics. @Raym Janjua Beethoven, but yes. However, he wasn't deaf from birth, so he had an opportunity to acquire musical skills normally. In his later years after he went deaf, he had a metal rod attached to his piano. He'd bite it so that the sound would conduct through his jaw instead, which let him hear what he was playing.

Only at 60'years old, you know how to be Young.... ☆

I love this live performance, my favorite of holy wars. Dave was doin real good, Dirk was killin it, Kiko was amazing, and David was doing great too. Just a great performance of this song.

I’m quite late to loving this song, but glad to see ol Dave is still at it. Yeah his voice might not be what it used to be, but Dave never wanted to be a singer to begin with. I find it inspiring, and f*ckin awesome.

The musicality here is just amazing. The main reason I was ever drawn to megadeth were songs like this. Absolutely magnificent with the changes, the different time signatures and just overall bad ass musicianship.
