uP-Andre You’ve left the same comment in about 5 other places. Iowa is much heavier, darker, and more raw. When the band themselves backs that it up, it’s kind of indicative of the truth.

@uP-Andre….it's kind of close, but IOWA is clearly heavier. When Left Behind is the closest thing to a radio single you can get from Iowa, you know it's really heavy. They had to change My Plague to really get it radio success. lol. The first album has songs like Spit It Out, Tattered And Torn, Me Inside, Prosthetics, No Life, Diluted, and Only One and that's half of the record. They some heavy parts in them, but it's nothing like Iowa. The first album has it beat on weirdness for sure and it's still a really heavy record, but even the band said that they purposefully made Iowa heavier.

@uP-Andre I half agree with you. Self titled has seriously heavy songs but when you take the sound quality and over all production into account, Iowa has an over all heavier sound. I personally don't care regardless. Those two albums go hand in hand.

Glad you reacted to the actual song. Tired of people watching live versions and complaining about the lyrics.

I love that you can hear the emotion in his voice, Mainly because the album's producer, Ross Robinson, forces bands to get angry, cry or whatever. He famously threw plant pots at Joey Jordison while he recorded drums for Slipknot to piss him off and make him hit the drums harder, he made Jonathan Davis from Korn relive childhood abuse and bullying to make him sob mid-song and it just makes the whole thing sound so raw.

I get where you’re coming from man, but I just think the overall feeling of Iowa is really dark and heavy. The lyrical content especially. That said, Slipknot can do no wrong in my eyes brother, I love all their shit

When i was a teen in high school, Iowa, vol 3 and their self titled album helped me through a lot. A lot of anger and bad decisions were stopped thanks to corey taylor going off so i wouldnt have to. I will forever be a maggot, slipknot is god tier music.

Love the reaction! Great seeing someone listen to this album for the first time. Even if you don't react to it you should check out the London Disasterpieces live show 2002. That was them performing at their best!

I got this record a day before of the official release and listened it with my classmates at school... I feel we had some of the same reactions as you did. At 15 years old this record seems a bit much, but we took it all open chested and it's still one of my most beloved records ever. Glad to see new generations been completely destroyed by every riff, every bass line, every drum beat and every scream from the lyrics. It will go down as a masterpiece.
