The Rosary will make the virtues germinate and will also make its devotees obtain divine mercy; it will replace in men's hearts the love of the world with love for God and will elevate them to desire heavenly and eternal things. How many souls by this means will be sanctified!

SORROWFUL MYSTERIES
1. The Agony of our Lord Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
2. The Scourging of Jesus at the PIllar
3. The Crowning of Jesus with Thorns
4. The Carrying of the Cross by Jesus to Mt. Calvary
5. The Crucifixion and Death of our Lord, Jesus Christ
The Rosary is a Marian prayer that immediately centers our mind and heart on the Lord Jesus. This simple prayer introduces us into a meditative rhythm that puts us "in vital communion with Jesus through - we might say - the heart of his Mother". In each Our Father we pray with the words that Jesus himself taught us and by the action of the Spirit we unite ourselves to the voice of the Son himself; in each Hail Mary we recognize "the greatest miracle of history," the Incarnation of the Word, and we make our confession of faith of Elizabeth: "Blessed are you and blessed is the future of your womb, Jesus"; at the end of each decade we give glory to the Father through the Son in communion with the Holy Spirit.
On the other hand, the mysteries that we announce before each decade allow us to meditate on events in the life of the Reconciler by the hand of Our Lady. In the school of Mary, we become more in tune with the Lord Jesus.
